Summer Fun Festival Preschool Summer Fun Festival Ages 3yrs-5yrs An exciting two weeks for children who will enter either preschool or Kindergarten in the fall 2020 (must be three by September 30, 2020) – birth certificate required. Your child will play games, sing songs, hear stories, outdoor play, and tumble, enjoy arts and crafts and just have a lot of fun! Children must be fully pottytrained (no diapers or pull-ups permitted). Instructor: P & R Staff. Location: Hugh Mercer Elementary. July 13–July 24 Monday–Friday, 9:00am -12:00pm $100/$120 (residents/non-residents) ($10 off for 3rd child)

Summer Fun Festival

Ages 5yrs-11yrs (Grades K-5th based on ’19-‘20 school year) This is an exciting FULL day one week camp for children. They will explore new activities and themes each hour throughout the day. Children will rotate through at least five different topics throughout the day to include weird science, arts and crafts, playground games, sports, STEM, music, cooking, nature and more. Please pack lunch each day for your child along with drink, snack and sunblock for outdoor play. The last day of camp will include water play and pizza! Please dress camper accordingly. Campers are welcome to sign up for one week or both weeks. Activities will be different each week. Campers will be divided into smaller groups based on ages/grades. Pre-registration is required. Lacrosse Camp

Golf Camp

8yrs–11yrs and 12yrs-17yrs Learn the basic fundamentals of the golf swing at our Junior Golf Camp. Players will be taught in a casual and fun environment by utilizing games and drills to master and reinforce their new skills! As it introduces golfers from beginners to intermediate to the game, building confidence, developing the full swing, and golf etiquette. Kids clubs are available to borrow for use at the range. Inline Roller Hockey Camp

Junior Lifeguard Mini Camp

Ages 8yrs-14yrs Junior Lifeguard Camp will emphasize education, first aid, water safety with a mix of fun. Learn the skills necessary to save a life in an aquatic environment. Campers will learn basic rescues including CPR and First Aid. Campers will get time to shadow lifeguards to get hands on experiences. This is a great camp for children considering becoming lifeguards. Campers should bring a snack, bottled water and swim gear including a towel, suit, goggles, and sunscreen. Campers will receive a junior lifeguard t-shirt, whistle, and hat upon completion. Campers must pass a swim test prior to the start of camp. Swim test can be taken anytime at Doris. E. Horseback Riding Camp

Ages 6yrs-Adult Mount up and step into the wonderful world of the horse. We will learn safety around these majestic animals, how to communicate, groom, tack and ride with correct aids to enhance the relationship between horse and rider. We explore, bareback, western, English, trail riding and arena skills. We also do a segment on archery, roping and golf. There are horse related crafts and worksheets in our classroom. STEM Engineering with Robotics Camp

Ages 9yrs-11yrs Our Engineering with Robotics camp teaches students how to integrate software, electrical, and mechanical engineering into the STEM classroom. During this camp, participants will learn about the engineering design process, hardware/microcomputing, circuitry, and robotics. Robotics and engineering are hands-on disciplines, so this camp provides ample time to practice with Arduino micro-computers and Robolink robotics kits. In this camp, students will use engineering principles to design their own multi-function robots and learn how to use circuitry to light up LEDs, build a mouse robot that can navigate a maze, and code a line-following robot. By the end of the camp, each student will have experience with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering principles. This camp will enable them to think critically to decompose problems and solve everyday challenges! Pre-registration is required. Stars and Stripes Dance Camps

Ages 7yrs-10yrs and 11yrs-17yrs Stars and Stripes Dance Camp is a curtain call for all patriotic kids that love dance and theater! These are fun camps for all levels, set to an American theme. Your kids will learn original choreography paying tribute to America and its Militaries in a fun red, white and blue costumed event! The kids perform their pre-Independence Day excitement dancing to the fireworks music of the Boston Pops and Leonard Bernstein and Yankee Doodle Dandy! This performance camp has a structured daily dance class encouraging the kids in every step! Stars and Stripes Dance camp will advance your kid’s skills and confidence. Beginners to intermediate/advance routines are taught suited for age and level. Performance is Friday, June 26th at 2:00pm for your family and friends! Students will perform in supplied costumes. Youth Ballet/Dance Camp

Ages 7yrs–10yrs and 11yrs-15yrs This camp is designed to greatly inspire your young dancer’s confidence. Youth Ballet is a structured ballet class consisting of barre center across the floor, jumps turns, French terminology and working on fun fairytale variations with exciting modern classical choreography. Youth Ballet will have the opportunity to explore different dance forms in this camp featuring both classical and modern jazz. The students will learn and perform original choreography that is presented in an in house performance for all your family and friends on their last day of camp (Friday) at 1:00pm. This is a perfect camp for new dancers and those that have prior training. Students will also have ballet tales and craft time! Safety Town Camp

Ages 4yrs-6yrs Children are always pretending and wishing to be grown up. Safety Town will allow kids to act like grown-ups while learning basic safety precautions that will keep them healthy and safe. Campers will explore aspects of being in a town where they will learn about personal safety and traffic laws and will have a lot of fun learning what to do in an emergency. They will meet a Police Officer, tour a fire station and an ambulance. They will learn animal safety and care. Campers will visit the Doris E. Buffett Pool during camp week to learn water safety. Beginners Outdoorsmen Camp

Ages 7yrs-13 yrs This exciting camp will highlight beginner level outdoorsmen fun! Campers will explore and learn new skills in fishing, archery, camping, hiking, hunting, canoeing, etc. It is a great opportunities for children to learn about the outdoors and get into nature. Adventure Fishing Camp

Ages 7yrs-14yrs This week-long day camp, sponsored by Virginia Fishing Adventures (www. virginiaoutside.com), teaches the entire process of fishing from rigging rods, tying knots, canoeing, and baiting hooks, all while introducing campers to the great wealth of fishing in the area. Campers meet at the VA Outdoor Center, then head to a mixture of public and private ponds and local rivers. Campers will have the opportunity to go on several nice river floats with this camp. All equipment provided and scouts may earn their fishing badge. Info will be sent to all registrants. Pre-registration required. Location: Virginia Outdoor Center. Fishing Adventures 2-day Camp

Ages 7yrs-14yrs Campers learn about casting, fish species, different types of tackle, and may even get their hands dirty if they choose to search for their own bait before heading to the water in search of bluegill, bass, and anything else that will bite! Camper will also take time to play, explore and cool off from the hot Summer sun with daily activities such as creek exploring, other outdoor games, popsicle breaks and more! Instructor: VA Outside. Teen Campout

Ages 13yrs-17 yrs (Grades 7-11. ’19-’20 school year) Teens, get ready for an action-packed adventure! Our days at Motts Run Reservoir will be filled with team-building, swamping canoes, and showing off our skills at fire building, orienteering, and much more! At night, we will beccamping out under the stars. This three day, two night camp is one that you don’t want to miss. All meals/snacks included, but you must provide your own tent. Adaptive Camp Spirit

Ages 8yrs and older Let the Adventure Begin! This camp caters toward children and young adults diagnosed with an intellectual disability and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Campers will have fun walking/hiking, playing games, arts and crafts, swimming, and much more. Please dress accordingly and bring drink, snack, sunblock and bug spray. Pre-registration is required. Camp Information:

Summer Camp Refund Policy:

Individuals wishing to withdraw and/or requesting a refund must do so by contacting the Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events Department. Individuals must follow up their verbal cancellation request with a written refund request and submit it to Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events Department prior to cancellation deadlines. A 10% administrative fee will be charged on all refund requests for advanced cancellations. Cancellation requests less than two weeks (14 days) before camp start date are eligible for a 50% refund. And there are no refunds on cancellations less than 7 days before camp start date. There will be no refunds given to those who withdraw after program start date. Refunds will require 4 weeks for processing unless paid by credit card. Credit card refunds will take 5 business days to process.
