REÉS PART 2 ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT
CONTACT
PROFILE Growing up around individuals who introduced me to art and design from an early age fuelled my confidence to advance in a subject I have always been passionate about. Recently finishing my Part II studies in architecture showed me that I am able to critically analyse situations, find solutions for given circumstances and demands, and develop my ideas with hard work and determination with the task in hand. During my time in office, I have seen what I can achieve and how I can prevail. I am keen to advance further with my skills within all areas of design.

Ground Floor Plan
‘The Danube Centre’ proposal in Budapest, is a building to serve the continued research into the protection and conservation of the Danube River. It is stronghold, a place of gathering for all the countries together to pool their combined knowledge and research. Hungary being in the heart of the Danube, makes it a perfect symbol of unity for the Rivers countries. The Centre is aimed at the many organisations who are working towards the protection of the river, as well as encouraging the public to be more aware of the environment. Research hubs and conference rooms allow for carrying out works, and hold international conferences, which include all the countries of the river basin. The public program is about highlighting the importance of the Danube River, in Hungary and further afield.

Museum Experience
Concerned with real and symbolic space in regards to processions, parades and festivals, and how the spatial order and surrounding infrastructure adds to the festivity and the cities architecture to create the lively built environment. The main focus studied The Lord Mayor’s Show in the City of London. My proposal takes on the various networks, or supposed processions, of the city, whether festive, infrastructural, or the city commuter, and interlaces them to create a defined architecture in the form of a museum. ‘The People’s City Museum’ is an interactive design of urban space, architectural space, interior and landscaping offering architecture as an innovative way of (re)understanding the city.

Final design project at Kent University. Located in northern France, in the city of Lille, the idea was to create a new facility dedicated to the professionalism of Hip-Hop artists. Critical analysis of both the physical and cultural context was vital. I dedicated my project to the spectator. I strived to create a communal space, a social hub, that was comfortable for everybody, and fitting for the hip-hop culture to display their art form. This in turn had me designing an outdoor amphitheatre, which I found to be the perfect way in which to demonstrate the essence of hip-hop to the public, with a pleasant arrangement for spectators. My building qualities were largely based on open space, with the form and expression of the building creating a monumental feature that correlated with the surrounding pitched roofs, but has the spirit of the dance and music culture.

IB Dip. Zebra - Installation Concept
Physical model of concept design
On a trip to Kenya some years ago I was inspired by the way animals adapt to their environment. Their camouflage is based the nature they live in, and the shadow play within the vegetation around them. I came to study how light and shadow have an important role in the designing a building. Based on these ideas I developed a concept for an art installation, I simply called Zebra. I wanted to design a space where one could walk around between hanging and standing pieces, representative of the stripes of a zebra. These pieces would move and rotate within this lit space and create moving light and shadows, typical of that in a Kenyan savannah. Alexander Calder’s hanging mobiles where an inspiration for this project. Plan 1:50
