The Freeborn County Stars are working on their fancy footwork to raise money for the Freeborn County Red Cross. The 6th Annual Dancing with the Freeborn County Stars will be Saturday, March 17, 2012. Your evening will be filled with style and magic by this year’s dancers: Melanie Bloom and Rusty Dawkins; Angie and Seth Stadheim; Mary and Nathan Johnson; Mary Nelson and LaMar Staloch; Dr Tom and Linda Lang; Haley Allen and Sergio Chavez; Roxanne Ehrich and Roger Zeman; Kristen Dulas and Bryce Nelson. The dancers are vying for awards in three categories – Top Fundraisers Award, Audience Choice Award and the Star Award, which combines judges’ scores and the money attendees put in fishbowls that night. To support your favorite dancers please send your check to American Red Cross, Freeborn County Chapter, 1608 West Fountain Street, Albert Lea, MN 56007, give directly to your dancers or put in the fishbowl at the event. We are continuing the very popular silent auction along with the event. You’ll be able to shop as you enjoy refreshments in the commons area of the Albert Lea High School during the intermission. Tickets for this fantastic evening are on sale now. General admission tickets will be on sale for $10 at Hy-Vee, Ben’s Floral and Frame Designs and the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Reserved seating tickets ($15 or $20) will be available only at the Red Cross office, 1608 West Fountain Street, Albert Lea, MN 56007. The money raised will be used to provide Red Cross services to the residents of Freeborn County. TAX TIME Don't Panic You file your tax return online and wait for acknowledgement. It comes, but instead of being accepted, your return is rejected. What on earth are you going to do now? First off, don't panic. There could be any number of reasons why your return was rejected. In simple cases involving a misspelled name or mistyped birthdate, the problem can be easily fixed and the return sent back electronically. In more complicated cases, such as a person including a

dependent of yours on their tax return, you may have to file a paper return. For the best results, you should review your tax return carefully before submitting it online. All of the information on the return must match the information found in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) master file. Here are some common mistakes you should avoid • Using zeros in place of the letter "o" or vice versa. • Mistyping social security numbers or using invalid ones. • Mistyping birthdates, entering them in the incorrect format or using invalid ones. • Using names that have not been updated to reflect a divorce or marriage.

(You should use the name that appears on your tax return mailing label if you haven't yet updated your name.) • Using special characters or numbers in names or fields. • Using Roman numerals only. • Using invalid employer ID numbers or including special characters like dashes in them. • Using invalid state abbreviation codes and ZIP codes. • Using invalid employer identification numbers. • Depositing your refund into someone else's account. (Only one tax refund can be deposited into an account and the name on the account must be that of the taxpayer.)

If your tax return is rejected after the April 15th deadline, you have options to ensure it is not considered late. You may correct the return and resubmit it electronically before April 20, or you may correct it and mail a paper return by April 25. Just make sure you write on top of the form that it is a timely filed rejected electronic tax return.

Jo was cancer free for what seemed like a very brief time and then the cancer returned. TAX TIME Don't Panic You file your tax return online and wait for acknowledgement. It comes, but instead of being accepted, your return is rejected. What on earth are you going to do now? First off, don't panic. There could be any number of reasons why your return was rejected. In simple cases involving a misspelled name or mistyped birthdate, the problem can be easily fixed and the return sent back electronically. In more complicated cases, such as a person including a

dependent of yours on their tax return, you may have to file a paper return. For the best results, you should review your tax return carefully before submitting it online. All of the information on the return must match the information found in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) master file. Here are some common mistakes you should avoid • Using zeros in place of the letter "o" or vice versa. • Mistyping social security numbers or using invalid ones. • Mistyping birthdates, entering them in the incorrect format or using invalid ones. • Using names that have not been updated to reflect a divorce or marriage.

(You should use the name that appears on your tax return mailing label if you haven't yet updated your name.) • Using special characters or numbers in names or fields. • Using Roman numerals only. • Using invalid employer ID numbers or including special characters like dashes in them. • Using invalid state abbreviation codes and ZIP codes. • Using invalid employer identification numbers. • Depositing your refund into someone else's account. (Only one tax refund can be deposited into an account and the name on the account must be that of the taxpayer.)

If your tax return is rejected after the April 15th deadline, you have options to ensure it is not considered late. You may correct the return and resubmit it electronically before April 20, or you may correct it and mail a paper return by April 25. Just make sure you write on top of the form that it is a timely filed rejected electronic tax return.
