The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center provides a broad range of year-round recreational, educational, social and cultural programs and activities. The facility is designed to attract and serve a variety of individuals and groups, including, but not limited to, the general public, youth, school and community groups, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Located on the Science and Technology Campus of George Mason University (formerly the Prince William Campus), our 110,000 square foot facility features two pools; a whirlpool; family locker rooms; a full gymnasium; cardio, aerobic and strength studios; racquetball courts; a child care center and a full range of adult and youth programming.

Ready to take the pool party up a notch? Enjoy the Wibit experience! The Wibit is an inflatable water sports park in our competition pool!

Freedom’s Chef will craft a cooking activity to entice your child’s taste buds! Participants will learn basic cooking skills and create a snack or meal to enjoy!

Cost: $300/Freedom Members; $350/non-members

Cost: $240 for up to 8 children*

All Star Sport Party

*Additional fee, between $50-$100, based on the food required for the chosen recipes. Additional 30 minutes may be added to the cooking portion for additional costs. Additional Instructor & supplies are required for 8+ children.

Ages 2 ½ and older - 1 hour activity, 1 hour in gymnasium Whether your child loves to shoot basketballs or throw footballs, the All Star Sports Party is for you! Our party coaches will design a party based on your child’s favorite sports and games! Options include soccer, basketball, flag football, dodge ball, tennis, floor hockey, kickball, volleyball, basketball and more! We always love to add a few awesome relay races, scooters and parachute games to wrap up the party! Cost: $240 for up to 10 children An additional instructor is required for 11+ children

The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center offers a wide variety of fun-packed programs to help children aged 2 to 17 discover a lifelong passion for recreation. Freedom Youth Sports and Fitness programs give children the opportunity to pursue new interests or improve skills in an age-appropriate and positive environment. Our experienced and enthusiastic instructors help youngsters develop group interaction and social skills while stressing the importance of teamwork and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle. We offer instructional classes in gymnastics, basketball, volleyball, tae kwon do, soccer, cheerleading, tennis, and many more activities! Freedom Arts and Education classes stimulate children’s creativity, through movement in our dance programs, imagination in our themed classes and preschool prep, or in the kitchen with Kinder Chefs, where kids both learn to cook and have the opportunity to enjoy eating their creations!

PARENT/YOUTH INTRODUCTION We have a new free service for our members. Children, who are members ages 12-15, are now able to utilize the cardio and strength training rooms! Youth members, with parent or guardian, are required to complete a Parent/Youth Introduction session offered by Freedom Fitness Staff (included in membership price). The Fitness Staff will guide both parent and child through rules and regulations, safe exercise guidelines for youth, and general fitness information. After completing this program the child is able to work out side by side with their parent or guardian. To schedule an appointment with a trainer call 703-993-8532.

Gymnastics Gymnastic programs allow parents to observe the first and last day of class. (With the exception to Tot Tumbling) Classes in between require parents to sit outside of the room. This is to ensure safety and participation.

Gymnastics Beginner Level 1 (Ages 3 ½- 13) In a structured setting, children will learn forward and backward rolls on the wedge mat and floor, bridges, headstands, handstands, and beginning cartwheel skills. Basic skills will be learned on the balance beam, single rail bar, vault, and trampoline.

Sports Basketball Bring your young basketball star to the Freedom courts to develop or polish basic to intermediate basketball skills! Participants will focus on improving individual skills and techniques required when working as a team. The fundamentals of passing, pivoting, ball handling, shooting and defense strategies will be covered. Instructors work on the development of personal goals and the importance of confidence, team work and sportsmanship. Participants will also continue work on balance, hand eye coordination, speed and agility!

Indoor Tennis – Beginner/Intermediate (Ages 5-15)

Participants will be exposed to basic skills and fundamentals of cheerleading. Class will focus on flexibility techniques, dance, cheers, optional jumps, basic tumbling, and moves for stunting. Participants will learn the importance of teamwork, motivation, and spirit!

Program participants will have the opportunity to excel as a tennis player in this indoor development program for novice and intermediate players. While learning proper grip, body position, and fundamental strokes, players will develop or polish basic hand-eye coordination and enjoy a variety of games and activities.

Soccer Gooal! This class provides the opportunity to develop and polish beginner/intermediate soccer skills in an indoor environment. Tae Kwon Do Tae Kwon Do (Ages 4-15) Introductory class for children with little or no experience. Through games and other activities, participants will develop balance, stamina & self-control while learning blocking, punching and kicking techniques. The instructor, Mr. Rosa, has over thirty years of experience in Martial Arts. All participants work towards completing 24 classes in order to test for skill levels, “no belt” to black belt. Uniforms are not required; however, are available to be purchased from instructor on first day of class. This class gives young children the opportunity to interact with others in an active environment while developing hand eye coordination, balance and gross motor skills. Parent and child will participate in a playful stationbased setting and begin to learn basics of several sports. Your mini athlete will begin to understand the concepts of kicking, throwing, catching and shooting a ball while participating in a variety of stations. Participants are offered the opportunity to participate in a swim program prior to or following the Home School PE class. Participants are divided based on skill once the program begins. While teaching your children how to swim skillfully and safely, instructors will follow the guidelines of the American Red Cross. Home School Swim is available for Thursdays if you would like it once a week, or Tuesday and Thursday if you would like it twice a week.

Freedom Center Preschool

(Ages 2 ½-3)

The Freedom Preschool is a half-day program for 3 and 4 year olds. Our program is designed to develop academic, social, fine and gross motor skills. Morning and afternoon classes are scheduled for both age groups. Information on the Preschool may be obtained from our website or you may contact the Preschool Director, Phyllis Malkiewicz at 703-993-8553.

Monday/ Thursday 9:30-11:30 Session 1 September 18-October 26 (12 classes) Fee: $200 Session 2 November 6-December 21 (13 classes) Fee: $215 No class on Nov. 23 This class is an excellent program to help young children prepare for preschool. In a small classroom setting, children engage in circle time activities, story time, and complete crafts daily. We work on basic preschool readiness skills, such as letter, number, color and shape identification, as well as social skills, like sharing and taking turns. Children must be able to separate from parent. Toilettrained not required. Please send your child with a small snack and drink.

Registration for 2017-2018 School Year Our school year is mid-September through May. Registration began February 1, 2017 and is ongoing until space becomes unavailable. School Year Camps Miss summer camp?! Keep your camper active during school breaks! Whether your camper attends one day or all throughout the fall…each day will be filled with exciting camp activities! Camp will include sports and recreation arts, crafts, swimming and loads of fun. Our summer showcase team, The Bobcats of Northern Virginia have done winter training at the Freedom Center for the past few years. We have been very happy with the trainers the program and the results. The first thing we hear from High School and College coaches is that the players must to get stronger and faster. The speed and agility training that the Freedom Center provides helps the players to get stronger and faster. We have seen the results on the field. Individual and Small Group Instruction (Ages 4-Adult) The Freedom Center offers one-on-one swimming instruction with our certified staff. Available dates and times are based on instructors’ availabilities outside of teaching their group classes. Each session of Individual lessons is exactly the same as the group lessons and are usually set up in groups of 5 to 10 lessons. Please call Josh at 703-993-8511 to see what times are available and to set up your lesson. Fee: $30/30 min. lesson.

Specialized Youth or Adult Groups Great for Scouts and other organizations with specific skill-related goals to accomplish. Groups can arrange for one of our instructors to assist your group with skills such as swimming, water safety, first aid, and CPR. There is a cost of $6 per person, per hour, with a $60 per hour minimum for the group. Please Call Josh at 703-993-8511 to schedule your group.

Swim Teams Adult Masters Swimming – Freedom Aquatic Club (Ages 18 and up) Freedom Center sponsored swim training for adults ages 18 and up geared toward improving fitness and performance. This is a great program for former competitive swimmers, triathletes, cross-trainers, and anyone looking for a rewarding physical challenge in a healthy social environment. By paying our monthly fee, you can attend as many of the practices as you’d like! Cost is $30.00 per month ($27.00 for members). Prerequisite: Practices take place in up to 13 feet of water depending on the set up of the pool being short course or long course. Participants must be comfortable in water over their head and able to swim the length of the pool without stopping. Swim Safely Safety Courses American Red Cross Lifeguard (Ages 15 and up)

American Red Cross Lifeguard Review (Ages 15 and Up)

This course covers the fundamental skills required to become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard. Students must pass a prerequisite swimming test on first day of the course in order to continue class and must be 15 years old by the last day of the class to become certified. Certification does not guarantee employment at our facility. However, seasonally there are openings for lifeguard positions at the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center. Participant must be able to attend all class dates and times.

The participant will have the opportunity to view video segments, practice and perform skills and scenarios for evaluation as well as completing final written exams. Participants must possess a current ARC Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Participant must have their own manual and pocket mask. . Participant must be able to attend all class dates and times.

Cost is $250.00 *There is a $50 cancellation fee if you wish to cancel the class within 2 weeks of the start date. December 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th Times: 9:00am-5:00pm each day

This is a Creative Writing, and Book Publishing course for aspiring authors. Students will brainstorm and create a short story, (less than 20 pages) leading to the publishing of their own book through student publishing. Includes one copy of book. (additional

books will be available for purchase)

Improv for Kids (Ages 8-14) Students will learn the basic rules of improv and put them into action by having fun playing multiple Improv games. Students will be given the opportunity to perform Improv in front of a local audience.

Audition Prep (Ages 8-14) Students will build public speaking skills that will allow them to have much confidence when presenting in front of an audience. In addition, they will memorize a monologue, prepare a song, and get a professional headshot. This audition preparation concludes with a final performance for family and friends.
