Sunset Colorway - Week 2 Cutting WOF = Width of Fabric; HST = Half Square Triangle Note: If you received the fabric for the entire quilt top at one time, first cut Fabrics A-N into strips 43⁄4” x WOF. Follow all further cutting instructions as listed. Fabrics A, C, E, G, I, K and M cut: (1) 43⁄4” (12.07cm) square

Instructions All seam allowances are 1⁄4” (.64cm) and pieces are sewn right sides together. Four Patch Blocks 1. Sew a 31⁄2” (8.89cm) Fabric O and P strip together along one long edge. Press towards Fabric P. Repeat to make a second strip set. Cut (24) 31⁄2” x 61⁄2” (8.89cm x 16.51cm) units. (Fig. 1)

Square in a Square Blocks 3. Sew a Fabric Q HST to 2 opposite sides of a 43⁄4” (12.07cm) Fabric A square, centering the triangles on the square. Press the seam allowances towards the triangles. Sew Fabric Q HSTs to the top and bottom of the Fabric A square to complete (1) Fabric A Square in a Square Block 1 (61⁄2” (16.51cm) Fig. 3 square). (Fig. 3) Fig. 3

Make 2 Strip Sets

(3) 31⁄2” x WOF (8.89cm x WOF) strips; set aside (1) strip for Week 4 2.

Fabric Q, cut: (1) 37⁄8” x WOF (9.84cm x WOF) strip; sub-cut (10) 37⁄8” (9.84cm) squares, From the partial strip set aside in Week 1; sub-cut (2) 37⁄8” (9.84cm) squares. Cut all along one diagonal into (24) HSTs.

Sew (2) 31⁄2” x 61⁄2” (8.89cm x 16.51cm) units together, rotating so fabrics alternate, matching the seams, and pressing the seam allowances to one side. Repeat to make (12) four patch blocks (61⁄2” (16.51cm) square). (Fig. 2) Fig. Fig.22

Fabric R, cut: (5) 37⁄8” x WOF (9.84cm x WOF) strips; sub-cut (36) 37⁄8” (9.84cm) squares, and cut along one diagonal into (72) HSTs. Set aside leftover strips for Week 4. Fabric S: From (1) 37⁄8” x WOF (9.84cm x WOF) strip set aside in Week 1; sub-cut (6) 37⁄8” (9.84cm) squares, and cut along one diagonal into (12) HSTs. Set aside leftover partial strip for Week 3. Repeat to make (6) Four Patch Rows (61⁄2” x 181⁄2” (16.51cm x 46.99cm)). 10. Sew the Fabric A Square in a Square Block 1 between the (2) Fabric B Square in a Square Block 2 to make Row 1 (61⁄2” x 181⁄2” (16.51cm x 46.99cm)). Press the seam allowances towards the Fabric A Block. 11. Sew the Fabric C Square in a Square Block 3 between the (2) Fabric D Square in a Square Block 1 to make Row 2 (61⁄2” x 181⁄2” (16.51cm x 46.99cm)). Press the seam allowances towards the Fabric C Block. 12. Sew the Fabric E Square in a Square Block 1 between the (2) Fabric F Square in a Square Block 1 to make Row 3 (61⁄2” x 181⁄2” (16.51cm x 46.99cm)). Press the seam allowances towards the Fabric E Block. 13. Repeat Step 11 with Fabric G and H Blocks for Row 4 and Fabric K and L Blocks for Row 6. 14. Repeat Step 12 with Fabric I and J Blocks for Row 5. 15. Repeat Step 10 with Fabric M and N Blocks for Row 7. 16. Sew together (3) Four Patch Rows alternating with Rows 2 and 3 (181⁄2” x 301⁄2” (46.99cm x 77.47cm)). 17. Sew together Rows 4, 5 and 6 alternating with (2) Four Patch Rows (181⁄2” x 301⁄2” (46.99cm x 77.47cm)). 18. Sew a Four Patch Row to the top of Row 7 (181⁄2” x 121⁄2” (46.99cm x 31.75cm)).
