Competitive FaCilities Fresno state aquatics center

The Fresno State Aquatics Center, constructed in 2011, is one of the premier aquatics venues within central California. The facility features a 50 meter by 25 yard competition pool with a moveable bulkhead, 1 meter and 3 meter diving platforms, a warming whirlpool for divers, a dryland practice area, a 44 foot by 60 foot pool for Kinesiology classes, in addition to offices and a conference room for the swimming staff.

Beiden Field

Fresno State’s Pete Beiden Field is one of the premier college ballparks in the country and home to the 2008 College World Series Champion Bulldogs. The facility was built in 1966 and redesigned in 1983. It features 3,575 theater-style seats, a spacious press box, locker rooms, new restrooms and concession stands, offices for the coaching staff, indoor and outdoor batting cages and six mounds inside two bullpens.

Bulldog stadium

Bulldog Stadium has established itself as one of the most difficult places to win for visiting teams. One of the premier stadiums in the Western Athletic Conference, Bulldog Stadium seats 41,031 fans and features 22 sky suites. In 2004, Bulldog Stadium was voted one of the 25 best college football stadiums by CBSSportsline.com.

Bulldog diamond

Regarded as one of the finest softball facilities in the country, Bulldog Diamond boasts a seating capacity of 3,288. The stadium features 1,688 permanent seat-back chairs that include 388 box seats, a beautiful grass berm that surrounds the outfield fence, sunken dugouts, lights, concessions stands, restrooms, practice areas, indoor and outdoor batting cages and one of the most spacious press boxes in all of college softball.

With the wide array of golf courses in close proximity to the Fresno State campus, Bulldog golfers have the opportunity to refine their skills at some of California’s finest clubs. San Joaquin CC hosted the NCAA Championship final, WAC Championships and U.S. Mid-Amateur; Sunnyside CC hosted the 1981 U.S. Junior Amateur and California State Junior Championship; and Fort Washington CC hosted two PGA Tour qualifiers. The official practice course is Riverbend Golf Club.

The Ricchiuti Academic Center, benefiting all student-athletes, provides study tables, tutorial and computer labs, plus office suites for the academic advisors and compliance personnel. One of the newest additions to the Fresno State athletics complex, this facility is a cornerstone where student-athletes can be served and is a focal point of the new Student-Athlete Village, a part of Fresno State’s master facility plan.

The $100 million plus facility opened in November 2003 with a seating capacity of 15,596. It contains 32 private suites, a club level concourse, team locker rooms and athletics training facilities. With its size, scope, unique architectural features and state-of-the-art video, sound and telecom systems, the center will serve as the major provider of entertainment and home of Bulldog men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball.

The 10,000 square-foot weight room facility houses a host of free weights, as well as, a variety of modern fitness equipment. The spacious room is equipped with 25,000 pounds of Olympic weights. A long list of Bulldog athletes have been voted as a National Strength and Conditioning Association All-Americans. The strength and conditioning program at Fresno State is ergonomically designed for the greatest efficiency and safety.

The Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center is one of the premier facilities in the west and has become a key fixture in the recent success of the Bulldog men’s and women’s tennis teams. Host to numerous NCAA and conference postseason tournaments, the Wathen Center boasts approximately 400 luxury chair-back seats atop the platform that face the complex’s six main courts, making for easy viewing of all six courts.

The Student Horse Center, located on the Fresno State campus, is the site of all Fresno State equestrian home shows. The facility features 20 stalls in a main barn and an additional 20 in an adjacent pipe barn. All horse-related activities sponsored by the department are held at the horse center, which also features two adjacent large arenas and bleacher and burm seating for fans.

Home to the men’s and women’s track and field programs, Warmerdam Field has been playing host to Fresno State home meets since 1976. The nine-lane, 400-meter oncampus facility is named after Cornelius “Dutch” Warmerdam, the former Fresno State head coach and world record holder in the pole vault. It has served as the host for the Fresno Relays, Cal-Nevada Championships and numerous conference championship events.

The goal of the Fresno State Student-Athlete Services (SAS) Office is to help student-athletes successfully manage academic responsibilities and complete their baccalaureate degrees while they maintain athletic eligibility.

Who We are and Who We serve

The SAS staff includes a director, professional academics advisors, a learning specialist, graduate interns and tutors in a variety of subject areas. Each staff member is trained to deal with the special needs of student-athletes and works with all prospective, current and former student-athletes. Each student-athlete is assigned an academic advisor who works with that individual throughout his or her collegiate career.

The CHAMPS program is designed to help student-athletes learn life management principles, develop lifelong learning and leadership skills and continue a pattern of personal and interpersonal growth. Throughout their enrollment at Fresno State, student-athletes are provided services which help them identify and achieve their educational, career, personal and athletic goals. Included in the CHAMPS program is a three-unit class for freshmen called University 1. The class provides an orientation to campus resources and teaches effective study skills in a number of areas including time management, note taking, reading comprehension, memory skills and test taking. Life skills development topics include nutrition, sports and drugs, career exploration and goal setting.

The ACE Program is designed to meet the special academic needs of studentathletes with more specific learning challenges. Coordinated by the department’s Learning Assistance Specialist, participants in the program are provided with specialized tutorial assistance and study skills development in addition to weekly accountability meetings, workshops on various life skills issues, assistance with accommodations and personal counseling or referral when necessary.

TRACK & FIELD FACILITIES Warmerdam Field has been playing host to Fresno State outdoor home meets since its construction in 1976. The nine-lane, 400-meter on-campus facility is named after Cornelius â&#x20AC;&#x153;Dutchâ&#x20AC;? Warmerdam, the former Fresno State head coach and world record holder in the pole vault.

In 2008, the Save Mart Center on the Fresno State campus became home to one of the only indoor track facilities in California. A donation by Frank Arnold in honor of his late wife made the construction of the indoor track possible. The Fred and Madeleine Arnold Memorial Track was designed by the Tartan Company and debuted at the 2008 Run for the Dream Indoor Invitational. The facility has been host to youth, high school, collegiate and professional competitions.

SCOTT WINSOR In four seasons under Winsor’s direction the `Dogs have qualified 52 student-athletes to compete in postseason NCAA competition, produced 21 individual conference championships as well as three relay team championships. Coach Winsor’s team had one of its best overall performances at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in 2012 with a combined seven championship titles and 30 medals. Devin Harrison was named WAC Freshman of the Year after winning the long jump and earning a second gold medal as a member of the WAC Champion 4x400m relay team. Winsor guided 11 student-athletes to qualifying for the NCAA regionals in Fresno State’s final season in the WAC, the most the `Dogs have sent since 2008 when 17 of Winsor’s student-athletes qualified. Four of Winsor’s studentath-

letes were named to the 2012 Men’s and Women’s Division I All-Academic Track & Field team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches. On the men’s side, rising sophomore jumper Devin Harrison received the All-Academic honor, while senior thrower J’Quyra Moncur-Blue, junior thrower Meagan McKee and former Bulldog javelin thrower Christina Cabias represented the ‘Dogs on the women’s side.

In 2011, Winsor sent six qualifiers to the NCAA Regionals and had three student-athletes earn individual WAC Championships. Rosario Sanchez won the WAC Indoor Hot Put title, Justin Lovingood earned the Triple Jump Title and J’Quyra MoncurBlue earned the hammer throw title and advanced to the NCAA Championships. Under Winsor, the Bulldogs had 34 student-athletes named to the All-Academic USTFCCCA Team. The men’s team had 11, while the women’s team had 23. Moncur-Blue was also named the 2011 WAC Most Outstanding Field Performer. The Bulldogs finished in sixth place at the 2011 WAC Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, the ‘Dogs took fourth place for both men’s and women’s WAC Championships.

Thrower Rosario Sanchez finished 13th at the NCAA National Championships, recording a career-best throw of 52-9.50 in the shot put. At the 2010 WAC Outdoor WAC Championships, senior Frank Sanders recorded two individual titles in the 1500-meter and the 800-meter. Paul Zwama won the 5000-meter WAC title and Latrisha Jordan won the 400-meter hurdles for the second year in a row.

Academically in 2010, Winsor’s team had 32 Academic All-WAC honorees, and Moncur-Blue was named to the All-Academic USTFCCCA Team. Overall the women’s team was named USTFCCCA All-Academic in 2010. With even further success off the track and field, Winsor’s team continues to improve their Academic Progress Rate scores. The latest APR data released by the NCAA after the 2010 school year reflected scores

In his first season, Winsor’s Bulldogs brought home three All-American honors, 21 NCAA Regional qualifications and six individual WAC Championships. The indoor and outdoor teams combined for a total 46 AllWAC honors under one season of Winsor’s direction. Thrower Sharon Ayala earned All-American honors in the weight throw during the indoor season and then in the hammer throw during the outdoor season. Ayala was the first NCAA Indoor qualifier for Fresno State since 1999, setting a new Fresno State record of 66-feet, 6-inches (20.26 meters) and taking sixth at the NCAAs. During the outdoor season, Ayala repeatedly smashed the Bulldog record for the hammer throw and marked the third-best throw in the country of 218-3 (66.52m) en route to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She also set a new hammer throw stadium record at Utah State’s Ralph Maughan Track in Logan, Utah, during the WAC Outdoor Championships, where she picked up her fourth conference crown. Latrisha Jordan nabbed All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles during her rookie campaign. Jordan broke the Fresno State record in the event early in the year and continued to better her mark throughout the season, ending the season with a new Bulldog record of 58.14. By the end of the season, Jordan had won the WAC crown for the 400 hurdles, earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors and advanced to the NCAA Championships. The freshman defied the odds, overcoming a No. 27 ranking entering the meet to finish eighth for All-American status. At the Outdoor WAC Championships, both the men’s and women’s teams found success in the relays. The teams mirrored each other in the events – both the men and the women won the 4x400 relay at the conference meet. Jordan also anchored the WAC title-winning 4x400 relay team. The four-some of Vanessa Sautebin, Tiera Hilliard, Janev Morris and Jordan, combined for a time of 3:39.85 to win the conference crown, a first for the Bulldogs since 1994. The team went on to take sixth at the NCAA Regional. The men also had success in 2009. Michael Barragan, Kendrick Young, Val-Pierre Dai’Re and Darryl Miller won the 4x400 relay at the WAC Championships to move on to the NCAA Regional where they took seventh. COACHES BIOS

The NCAA standard APR score is set at 925. All three track and field groups have surpassed this standard with both the women’s indoor and outdoor team scoring a 939 and the men’s outdoor team scoring a 930. All three team improved their score from the last review by two to four points.

Both the men’s and women’s teams earned the distinction as All-Academic teams in 2012 by recording at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA. The women recorded a team GPA of 3.25 and the men recorded a team GPA of 3.03.

Winsor finished his second season by sending 11 qualifiers to the NCAA Regionals and had four student athletes earn individual WAC Championships. The indoor and outdoor teams combined for a total of 21 All-WAC honors in Winsor’s second season.

Head Coach Scott Winsor enters his fifth season as the leader of the Bulldogs men’s and women’s track and field teams. Prior to Fresno State, Winsor spent 20 seasons as an assistant coach at Notre Dame focusing on jumps. Winsor was hired on July 10, 2008.

After hiring Sean McManus as the cross country coach, Winsor saw immediate results in the teams, culminating in the Bulldog’s first NCAA Championship qualifier since 1980. McManus coached Erick Garcia to an appearance at the NCAA Championships and to a Fresno State 10K record of 29:40.85 at the NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif. The Fresno State track and field program also made an academic statement in 2009. Twenty-five Bulldogs earned Academic All-WAC honors, two earned Academic All-District honors and five earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. ESPN the Magazine named Evan Young a first team Academic AllDistrict honoree before receiving the “Bulldog of the Year” honor. The award honors the two student-athletes that set the standard for the Bulldog experience through their athletic accomplishments, academic triumphs and community at Fresno State. Grace Wiesmann, one of the team’s 21 NCAA Regional qualifiers, also earned academic honors from ESPN the Magazine. Wiesmann was named to the second team Academic All-District. Scott Winsor took over Fresno State’s track and field program

as the Bulldog’s head coach on July 10, 2008, after coaching 20 years at the University of Notre Dame. During his time in South Bend, Winsor served as an assistant coach to Joe Paine, working with both jumpers and throwers for 15 years. After Notre Dame expanded its staff in 2003, Winsor could finally focus solely on the jumping events. Winsor’s record of success is an impressive one. During his tenure at Notre Dame, he coached 13 All-Americans and 25 NCAA Regional Qualifiers. After entering the Big East in 1996, Winsor coached 23 Big East Conference Champions and five conference record-setting student-athletes. Winsor coached his athletes to 20 qualifications for the NCAA Championships, with finishes among the top 10 in the country on 11 occasions. Winsor’s athletes have pursued excellence in the classroom as well as on the field. Two of Winsor’s athletes earned Academic All-American honors and one student-athlete was named an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Winner. In the 2008 season, the men’s team at Notre Dame won the Big East championship as Winsor and the rest of the Irish coaching brigade were named the Big East Men’s Coaching Staff of the Year, the 11th such award for the staff. Winsor’s record with women’s pole vaulting fits seamlessly with the tradition of pole vault excellence at Fresno State. In 2008, Winsor coached Mary Saxer to the Big East title, Big East record and Notre Dame record of 13-feet, 6.75 inches in the pole vault. Winsor’s guidance also helped Jamie Volkmer evolve as the pioneer in women’s pole vault at Notre Dame, winning seven All-Big East citations and becoming the first Irish female vaulter to clear the 13-foot barrier. Under Winsor, Notre Dame broke new ground in 1997 as Jennifer Engelhardt became the first member of Notre Dame’s women’s track & field team to qualify for the NCAA Championships in a field event. Engelhardt placed ninth in the indoor high jump en route to the first of her three All-America honors.

Prior to his arrival at Notre Dame in 1988, Winsor spent two years as the varsity track coach at Fulton High School in Middleton, Mich., as well as one season as an assistant at his alma mater, Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. A 1987 graduate of Loras with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, Winsor was a standout performer on the track squad, specializing in the jumping events. He was the team’s captain for his final two seasons, helping Loras win the 1987 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title. For nearly two decades, he also held the school record in the outdoor high jump (7-0) until the mark was topped in 2005. Winsor went on to earn his master’s of science in administration from University of Notre Dame in 1995.

Winsor also coached Tameisha King to long jump All-America honors four times including top-eight finishes in both the indoor and outdoor NCAA events in 2003. Some of Winsor’s notable protégés on the men’s side include two-time long jump All-American Marshaun West and indoor pole vault AllAmerican Mike Brown.

SPRINTS & HURDLES......................................................EIGHTH YEAR in the hurdles. Dai’Re earned bids in both the 110 and 400 hurdles for a second year in a row. Young specialized in the 400 hurdles, taking second at the WAC Championships and placing seventh at the NCAA Qualifier. In the 2008 season, Baptista guided both Dai’Re and Young to strong showings at the NCAA Regional. Dai’Re finished sixth at the Regional in the 400m hurdles and just one place from a bid to the NCAA Championship. On the women’s side, Tiera Hilliard, WAC Freshman of the Year, and the women’s 4x400 relay team qualified for the postseason.

Chris Baptista enters his eighth season with the Bulldogs with a proven record for developing dominant sprinters and hurdlers. During his time with Fresno State, Baptista has guided his student-athletes to 35 NCAA Regional bids. Last season, Baptista sent four individuals to the NCAA Regionals. Latrisha Jordan returned for the fourth-straight year to the NCAA Regionals after earning her third WAC title in four years, she finished nearly two full seconds ahead of the pack in the 400-meter hurdles at the conference championships. Breeauna Thompson qualified for the 400m dash for the second consecutive year. Thompson also qualified for the 200m, the only Bulldog to qualify for two NCAA postseason events last spring.

In 2010, Baptista sent five individuals to the NCAA Regionals, including standout Latrisha Jordan in her sophomore campaign. Jordan won the WAC Outdoor title in the 400-meter hurdles for the second year in a row.

Baptista guided Latrisha Jordan to All-American honors during first season at Fresno State in 2009. Jordan shattered the Fresno State record for the 400m hurdles multiple times throughout the season, finishing the regular season with the WAC title in the event and earning WAC Freshman of the Year honors. At the NCAA Championships, Jordan reset the Fresno State record of 58.14 seconds to advance to the final and take eighth-place, earning All-American status. Jordan also anchored the WAC title-winning 4x400 relay team. Baptista coached the four-some of Vanessa Sautebin, Tiera Hilliard, Janev Morris and Jordan, who combined for a time of 3:39.85 to win the conference crown, a first for the Bulldogs since 1994. The team went on to take sixth at the NCAA Qualifier. The men also had success in 2009 under Baptista’s guidance. Michael Barragan, Kendrick Young, Val- Pierre Dai’Re and Darryl Miller won the 4x400 relay at the WAC Championships to move on to the NCAA Qualifier where they took seventh. Prior to Tulsa, Baptista, a native of Caruthers, Calif., served two years as the head men’s and women’s track coach at Shasta College. During his stint at Shasta, the women’s team won back-to-back Golden Valley Conference titles and finished the 2002 season as the COA’s Women’s Scholar Team of the Year for California Community Colleges. Before Shasta College, Baptista spent three years as an assistant coach at Troy State, where he coached that school’s first female NCAA Championship qualifier in the high jump. In his 13 years coaching, Baptista has produced five NCAA Division I All-Americans, 42 NCAA Regional qualifiers and 39 individual conference champions. He is a Level II USA Track and Field Coach. Baptista earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in health education from UAB in 1997. He married Valerie Cain in the fall of 2009. The couple resides in Fresno, Calif. with their son, Cooper.

DISTANCE Sean McManus enters his fifth season as the assistant coach of Fresno State’s track & field distance runners and head coach of the cross country team. In 2012, McManus guided Olivier Bernard to the NCAA Preliminary Round Championship in Austin, Texas after winning the Western Athletic Conference Championships in the 1500-meter with a time of 3:46.57. Bernard’s time at the WAC Championship meet placed him in the record books as the eighth-best 1500m in Fresno State history. The fifth year assistant coach helped place freshman Meagan Paracholski into the Fresno State record books in the 800m last season. Paracholski clocked a 2:11.63 to break into the Fresno State top-10 in her first year on campus. During the 2011 women’s indoor season, McManus led the `Dogs to a sixth place finish at the WAC Championships. Mile runners Saylah Bersarian and Marrijtje Molenhuis placed in second and fourth place, respectively. Both the men’s and women’s outdoor teams finished the WAC outdoor season in fourth place. The Bulldogs had 34 studentathletes earn USTFCCA All-Academic honors in 2011. In his second season, McManus led the Bulldogs to three WAC Outdoor individual titles, one indoor individual title and two NCAA Regional qualifications. The Bulldogs were led by Frank Sanders, who won the 1500-meter and 800-meter WAC Outdoor titles. Sanders went on to qualify for the NCAA Regionals. In his first season coaching the Bulldog distance racers, McManus’s athletes garnered nine All-WAC honors, one conference title, two NCAA Regional qualifications and four Academic All-WAC honors. During the 2009 women’s indoor track and field season, Roxanne Sellick finished third in the mile and fifth in the 3,000-meter run, earning two All-WAC honors. Sellick returned to the track, taking second in both the 1,500 and the 5,000 at the WAC Outdoor Championships for another pair of conference accolades. She also qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 1,500 and marked the second-best time in Fresno State history for the event. Marissa McPhail scored a fourth place finish in the 10,000 to earn all-conference honors as well. The men’s outdoor track and field team grabbed four all-conference honors, including one conference crown, in the distance events in McManus’s first season as well. Sanders won the 1,500 at the WAC Outdoor Championship, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional. He had already qualified for the NCAA Regional and taken over eighth-place in the history books for Bulldogs in the event. Sanders also finished in sixth in the 800 at the conference championship. One of McManus’s first recruits, Paul Zwama, had a strong showing at the WAC Outdoor Championships as well. Zwama scored a set of silver medals at the conference meet, finishing second in both the 5,000 and 10,000 races. McManus also coaches the men’s and women’s cross country teams, where in his second season, he coached the men’s team to its best conference finish in nearly 20 years. The men took second at the WAC Championships, Fresno State’s best finish at the conference championship since the team’s 1991 second-place finish in the Big West. Erick Garcia paced the team with a second place finish and First Team All-WAC honors. Zwama, a newcomer to the cross country team, and freshman Danny Vartanian also picked up all-conference accolades. The women’s team continued to grow as a team, bettering their standing within the conference and producing an all-conference performer in Sellick. Sellick rounded out her senior campaign with four Top 10 finishes including an individual meet title and an eighth place finish in conference. Ten cross country student-athletes earned the conference’s academic award, including five men and five women. Eric Battles, Max Hernandez, Mitchell Pfyl, Sanders and Zwama all earned Academic All-WAC honors for the men, while Stevie Brumwell, Marissa McPhail, Daysi Cruz, Sellick and Julianne Warmerdam were honored for the women.

In his opening season, McManus coached Garcia to an appearance at the NCAA Championships, a first for Fresno State since Tim Holmes’ back-toback appearances in 1979 and 1980. McManus also guided Garcia to a Fresno State 10K record of 29:40.85 at the NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif., besting Rich Lanford’s 29:48 set in 1976 at the NCAA Championships. During the season, Garcia won the individual title at two meets and was edged in the final steps for the WAC individual crown at the conference championships. The men’s team saw steady improvement under McManus’s tutelage. Three Bulldogs earned All-WAC honors for 2008 as Garcia, Frank Sanders and Eric Battles placed among the Top 12 at the conference meet. Garcia also picked up two WAC Athlete of the Week awards during the season. With all three returning and the addition of top-tier recruits, McManus has high expectations for the team entering the 2009 season. McManus’s first season coaching the women’s team featured the Bulldog’s improvement working as a team and setting personal bests. Jennifer Hernandez earned her first allconference recognition; finishing eighth at the conference meet for second team AllWAC honors. Seven Bulldogs earned Academic AllWAC honors under McManus’s guidance in the 2008 cross country season. Briana Cleary and McPhail earned the academic accolade for the women. Five men (Battles, Brandon Geis, Max

nand e z , Mitchell Pfyl and Sanders) picked up the conference academic honor. McManus joined the Fresno State staff after spending three seasons as an assistant coach for Florida State. While at FSU, McManus assisted head coach Bob Braman in coaching the cross country teams as well as working with the distance runners in track and field. McManus helped guide the Seminole men’s track and field team to threeconsecutive NCAA Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and six ACC Championships. He also assisted in the Seminole women’s top 25 finishes at the NCAA Championships. At FSU, McManus’s athletes earned a wide array of honors, including three NCAA individual titles, 22 ACC individual championships and 19 All- American accolades. Prior to Florida State, McManus was an assistant cross country and track coach at Notre Dame from 2001-02 and 2003-05. McManus oversaw training for student-athletes competing in mid to distance and cross country events. He was instrumental in recruiting top local, national and international student-athletes to a highly competitive academic institution. During his time at Notre Dame, McManus coached student-athletes earning 25 All-Americans, 64 All-Big East and 22 All-Great Lakes Region honors as well as four Academic All-Americans. He helped produce thirteen individual Big East champions and two Big East Athletes of the Year. McManus is no stranger to the NCAA Championships scene as he helped the men’s and women’s cross country squads to multiple appearances. During McManus’ tenure the men’s team finished sixth (2001) and 11th (2004) and the women’s team finished 19th (2001), 10th (2003) and fourth (2004). He was also an integral part of a Notre Dame staff that earned two Big East coaching staff of the year honors. From 2002-03, McManus served as a volunteer assistant at the University of Florida where he assisted the men’s and women’s cross country and distance programs. He helped produce six All-SEC, five All-South Region, one All-American and one Academic All-District award winner. McManus earned a master’s of science in exercise science with a specialization in sports pedagogy and an emphasis on athlete motivation from Florida. As an undergraduate, McManus attended Notre Dame from 1996 to 2001 where he earned a bachelor’s of science in civil engineering. He competed four years in cross country and track. While running for the Irish, he helped his cross country team to four top 12 team finishes at the NCAA Championships.

Baptista came to Fresno State after three seasons as an assistant coach at Tulsa. During his tenure with the Golden Hurricane, Baptista served as the program’s recruiting coordinator and coached the men’s and women’s sprints and

Baptista made an immediate impact at Tulsa, coaching the school’s first female sprint NCAA AllAmerican, five individual WAC champions, and 17 NCAA Regional qualifiers, including the 20th-ranked NCAA javelin thrower in 2005.

In 2011, Latrisha Jordan and Breeauna Thompson represented Fresno State at the NCAA Regionals under Baptista’s guidance. Jordan returned for the third-straight year in the 400m hurdles while Breeauna Thompson qualified for her first appearance in the 400m.

In his first season at Fresno State, Baptista’s athletes picked up three conference titles and six qualifications the NCAA Regional Championships. Fresno State record holder and NCAA National qualifier Ryan Moore and then-freshman Dai’Re both qualified for the USA Track and Field Championships in 2006.Moore set a then-school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 50.51. Dai’Re finished with Junior All-American honors in the 110 hurdles. The men’s 4x400 relay team featuring Moore along with Kenny Moon, Juan Valdez and Darryl Miller also qualified for the Regional, breaking a stadium record at the WAC Championships. On the women’s side, Regina Ollison qualified for the Regional with a leap of 41-2 in the triple jump.

Xavier also became just the third Bulldog in history to throw the shot put over 50 feet with a mark of 50-5.25 (15.37m). Another of Misipeka’s athletes, Grace Wiesmann, found success in 2009. Wiesmann not only qualified for the NCAA Regional in the hammer throw, but was also named to ESPN The Magazine’s Second Team Academic All-District team.

Lisa Misipeka enters her fifth season as the throwing coach at Fresno State. For the second year in a row, Misipeka guided a Bulldog to a Western Athletic Conference Championship in the outdoor shot put. Sophomore Meagan McKee won the shot put in 2012 after J’Quyra Mocur-Blue owned the title in the previous season. McKee had a breakout year under Misipeka as she set the second-best shot put distance in Fresno State history with a 16.18-meter throw; 22cm shy of the Olympic Provisional “B” Qualifying mark.

In 2011, Moncur-Blue won the WAC title in the shot put and qualified for the NCAA Regional. At the Regional Moncur-Blue exceled at the hammer throw and qualified for NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, the second consecutive year a Bulldog qualified the national finals. During the indoor season, the Bulldogs had two throwers earn WAC indoor titles. Meagan McKee won the 2011 weight throw title and Rosario Sanchez earned the shot put title as the Bulldogs finished the meet in sixth place. In her second season, Misipeka once again led a strong throwing group, led by Rosario Sanchez, who finished 13th at the NCAA National Championships in the shot put. Misipeka also coached Moncur-Blue to a WAC Indoor title, a second place WAC Championships finish in the hammer throw and a fourth place finish at the 2010 USA Junior National Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Academically, Moncur-Blue was named to the All-Academic USTFCCCA Team and five student-athletes were named Academic AllWAC.

Misipeka, a decorated thrower herself, guided Sharon Ayala to a pair of All-American honors in 2009. Ayala won the WAC crown in the weight throw during the indoor season and advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships, a first for Fresno State since 1999. At the national championships, Ayala set a new Bulldog record of 66-feet, 6-inches (20.26 meters) and took sixth to nab All-American accolades. During the outdoor season, Ayala continued her throwing success with the hammer throw. Ayala repeatedly smashed the Bulldog record for the hammer throw and marked the thirdbest throw in the country of 218-3 (66.52m) en route to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. She also set a new hammer throw stadium record at Utah State’s Ralph Maughan Track in Logan, Utah, during the WAC Outdoor Championships, where she picked up her fourth conference crown. In Sharon’s second event, the discus, she improved over 15 feet. Misipeka helped develop sophomore Kayla Xavier into a dominant thrower in multiple events. Under Misipeka’s guidance, Xavi-

In 2008, Misipeka returned to collegiate athletics to coach the Bulldog throwers after training for the Olympic games and working with student-athletes of all ages through her company HYPE. As a professional athlete, she trained with University of Southern California’s throws coach Dan Lange, as she earned a bronze medal in the hammer throw at the World Championships in 1999 and championed various international meets en route to her appearances at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, Misipeka was the flag bearer for America Samoa. Misipeka competed for South Carolina as a collegiate athlete. During her career with the Gamecocks, Misipeka was a two-time NCAA champion, winning the national title in the hammer throw and the 20 pound weight throw in 1998. She also picked up 11 All-American honors and three SEC titles in the throwing events over her career. Misipeka’s hammer throw of 213-3 (65.00m) in 1998 set a school record for South Carolina, a record that still stands today. Of all her honors, Misipeka is most proud of the five Academic All-American honors she earned while at South Carolina. In 2007, Misipeka was inducted into both the University of South Carolina’s Hall of Fame and the SEC’s Hall of Fame. After college, Misipeka was a motivational speaker for the Drug Enforcement Agency and was named the South Carolina Woman of the Year in 1999. She continues to inspire others through her motivational speaking.

In 2000, Misipeka began coaching at Northern Arizona, where she coached the throws. In her two years at NAU, she guided four athletes to the NCAA National Championships (two indoor and two outdoor). With hard work and determination, the student-athletes, who were walk-ons and partial scholarship athletes, made dramatic improvements in their shot put, hammer, discus and weight throw marks under her tutelage. Misipeka also coached at West Los Angeles College for a season. Over the last 10 years, she has worked as a motivational speaker as working as a strength and conditioning coach for various Los Angeles-area athletic programs. A graduate of Temecula High School in Temecula Calif., Misipeka was ranked among the top 10 high school basketball recruits from the state. She was heavily recruited by top Division I schools to compete in both basketball and track and field. In the end, Misipeka opted to compete solely in track and field, wanting to rely on herself to reach her goal of competing at the Olympic games. She earned a bachelor of science in education from South Carolina in 1998. Misipeka and her husband have a son, Bryson, and live in Fresno, Calif.

Cedric Pulliam enters his second year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Fresno State track & field team. Pulliam assists with the sprinters, specifically the 400-meter and 800-meter races. Pulliam a former Fresno State sprinter competed from 2003-07. He is a certified USA Track & Field Official. Prior to Fresno State, Pulliam coached at Liberty High School in Madera. He specialized in in coaching the long jump and 400-meters. The Gardena, Calif. native graduated from Fresno State with a degree in Kinesiology in 2007.

VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT..............................................FIRST YEAR

Patrick Heckroth enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach. Heckroth works with jumps, sprints and hurdlers, with an emphasis on the 400-meter hurdles. Heckroth is a former 400-meter and 400m hurdler competing at the University of Northern Iowa under Coach Chris Bucknam, now at the University of Arkansas. He is a USATF Level 1 certified coach, and has been accepted into the Level 2 certification program to be completed this summer. Prior to Fresno State, Heckroth was an assistant coach at Waverly-Shell Rock High School, his alma mater, in Waverly, Iowa. His hurdlers won multiple State of Iowa and Drake Relays championships while breaking multiple State records during his two years with the program. The Waverly, Iowa native graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with degrees in Exercise Science and Sport Psychology in 2011. He is currently a second year graduate student at Fresno State, earning his Masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Sport Psychology.

E.J. JACKSON STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH....................... EIGHTH YEAR Ephion (E.J.) Jackson enters his eighth season as an assistant strength coach at Fresno State. Jackson works with the baseball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s and women’s cross country. He is also responsible for designing the speed and conditioning programs for all the sport programs at Fresno State. Jackson, originally from Modesto, Calif., earned his received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Fresno State in 2002. A former Junior and Colligate Track All-American, Jackson was was inducted to the Fresno State Track Hall of Fame in the spring of 2009. He is also certified by the United States Weightlifting Federation.

COACHES BIOS

Under Misipeka, the throwers improved leaps and bounds. In her first season, Fresno State’s throwers earned two All-American honors, eight NCAA Regional qualifications, two conference titles and nine All-WAC accolades.

On the men’s side, Misipeka worked to develop the throwers, who picked up two NCAA Regional qualifications and one runner-up finish at the conference championships. Tim Greene took second in the hammer throw at the WAC Championships with his final toss bettering his lifetime best from 189-11 (57.89m) to 203-09 (62.11m). Greene’s performances at WAC qualified him for the NCAA Regionals in both the hammer and the discus.

Misipeka and her husband, Bryant Allen, created HYPE (How You Perceive Excellence), in 2000 to work with young athletes individually. The program works to develop athletes of all disciplines physically, mentally, academically and emotionally.

Misipeka’s throwing team garnered the highest number of throwers representing the WAC at the NCAA Regional Championships in 2012 with four qualifiers. Moncur-Blue (60.21m) and McKee (58.54m) both set personal records in the hammer throw at the regional but came up short in making the national finals.

In his fourth year, head coach Scott Winsor and his staff guided the Fresno State men’s and women’s track and field teams to one of Sophomore Meagan McKee grabbed the other gold medal for the its best seasons in recent years in the final season of the schools women’s team at the outdoor championships. McKee registered a membership in the Western Athletic Conference. 50’-11.50” (15.53m) toss, defeating the next closest competitor by more than a foot. The Bulldogs qualified for 13 events at the NCAA regionals in 2012, the most the Bulldogs have seen since sending 21 entries Fresno State closed out its last season in the WAC with many in 2008. 11 student-athletes traveled to Austin, Texas for NCAA individual accomplishments. The Bulldogs finished the season West Regional while two ‘Dogs qualified for multiple events. Devin Harrison was named WAC Freshman of the Year after winning the long jump (23’-10.75”) and earning a second gold medal as a member of the WAC Champion 4x400m relay team. He also led off the 4x100m relay team that ran a season-best 40.96 seconds and finished just .08 seconds from earning a third gold.

Thompson put a solid performance together in the 200m dash at the regionals. She was the only Bulldog to make a semifinal round on the weekend. She finished 27th at 24.40 seconds in the dash before hitting her second fastest time of the season in the prelim round at 24.18 seconds.

Earlier in the season during the women’s indoor season, McKee had an even better time at the Indoor Championships than the outdoor by racking up two WAC titles. In her second season she bested the field by setting a personal record in the shot put with a Another big winner at the championships on the men’s side was 51’-7.75” (15.73m) toss. UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

JOHN D. WELTY Dr. John D. Welty has been president of California State University, Fresno since July 29, 1991. He is also a professor in the Kremen School of Education & Human Development. Fresno State enrolls more than 22,000 students and offers 61 undergraduate degrees, 45 master degree programs, and three doctoral degrees. The campus is located on 1,500 acres and academic programs are housed in eight colleges and schools. Since 1991 the University has become recognized as one of the nation’s best engaged universities, expanded minority enrollment, created an Honors College, revised its general education requirements, added new academic programs and institutes, and constructed $425 million in facilities, including a new $102 million library. Since 1991 the University has introduced service learning into the curriculum and expanded community service opportunities for students, improved services for students, streamlined administrative processes, launched a major commitment to expand the use of information technology, earned membership in the Mountain West Conference, expanded intercollegiate Athletic opportunities and facilities for women, led the effort to build the Save Mart Center, and dramatically increased private fund raising and grant and

contract funding. The University is currently completing a $200 million capital campaign. The university has been actively involved in addressing issues in Central California and engaging itself with the entire region. Dr. Welty has served on both of the CSU System’s major strategic planning efforts. He participated in the creation of the Voluntary System of Accountability which has been adopted by over 200 colleges and universities. He is called upon frequently to discuss the role of engaged universities. He has served on several advisory groups to the U.S. Departments of Education and Agriculture. He is a past-chair of the Renaissance Group which is a national organization of over 30 Universities dedicated to improved teacher education programs. He co-chaired the CSU’s effort to create CALState Teach, an innovative program designed for emergency credentialed teachers and chaired a CSU group on preparing educational leaders. He chairs the Cal State Online Advisory Board, is Chair of the CSU Gender Equity Monitoring Committee and also serves on the executive board of the Central California Campus Compact. He joined the Board of the California Healthcare Foundation in 2012. In addition, he has chaired three national conferences on substance abuse and prevention and chaired a CSU effort to review alcohol policies and programs. Dr. Welty is a national leader in higher education. He was elected to serve as WASC Commissioner in 2000 and served a three year term as the WASC Commission Chair. He is past chair of the American Humanics, Inc. Board and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and WAC Board of Directors. He was appointed to the Urban Serving Universities (USU) Board in 2012. He served on the NCAA Board Executive Committee and the special NCAA Task Force on the Future of Intercollegiate A t h l e t i c s . Currently, he serves on the NCAA Board of Directors and is the Mountain West re p re s e n t a t i v e to the Bowl Conference Series (BCS) Oversight Committee. Locally, Dr. Welty has been a leader in establishing

THOMAS BOEH the Fresno Business Council, the Central Valley Business Incubator, the Central Valley Higher Education Consortium, the Collaborative Regional Initiative, the Regional Jobs Initiative, the Kenneth L. Maddy Institute and several other partnerships. In 1999, Dr. Welty was presented the Chief Executive Leadership Award by the Council for Advancement and Support for Education and was recognized by the John Templeton Foundation for his leadership in Student Character Development in Schools and Colleges. In 2001 and again in 2011, he was recognized by the California State Student Association as President of the Year. In 2003, he received the Fresno Business Council’s Excellence in Public Service Award. In 2007, he received the Fresno Compact’s Harold H. Haak Award for Outstanding Business Partnership Educator of the Year. In 2008, he was named an American Humanics 60th Anniversary Honoree and in 2009 he was named an ACPA Educational Leadership Foundation Diamond Honoree. In 2010, he received the Sequoia Award from the Great Valley Center and was awarded an honorary doctorate by Western Illinois University. In 2012, he was presented with the William M. Lyles Vision Award for his contribution to advancing entrepreneurship throughout the Central Valley. He has also consulted with many institutions and served on the boards of several campus and community organizations. Previously, Dr. Welty served as President of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) for seven years. Prior to assuming the presidency of IUP, he served as Vice President for Student and University Affairs for four years. A native of Amboy, Illinois, Dr. Welty has served as an Admissions Counselor at Michigan State University, East Lansing, and as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota. At the State University of New York, Albany, he was Director of Residences, Associate Dean for Student Affairs, and Assistant Professor of Counseling and Student Development. Dr. Welty received his bachelor’s degree in Social Science from Western Illinois University, Macomb in 1965; his master’s in College Student Personnel Services from Michigan State University in 1967; and his doctorate in Administration of Higher Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1974. Dr. Welty and his wife, Dr. Sharon Brown-Welty, have ﬁve children and three grandchildren.

With a proven track record of strong leadership, integrity, sound academic values and athletics achievement, Thomas Boeh enters his 31st year of athletics administration, 18th year as an NCAA Division I-A Director of Athletics and eighth year at Fresno State, including leading the Bulldogs’ transition into the Mountain West Conference. In July of 2005, Boeh was charged to stabilize, reform and revitalize the athletics program at Fresno State. As a result of this charge, the Department of Athletics has been entirely restructured with a new senior administrative team. Special emphasis has been placed upon a consistent and value-based approach to decision-making, as well as clearly delineating areas of responsibilities with built-in accountability. Considerable attention has been directed towards creating a progressive studentathlete environment and strict adherence to welldefined NCAA compliance protocols and standards. New polices have been developed regarding student-athletes recruitment, oversight and welfare. The Student-Athlete Code of Conduct and Substance Abuse Educational and Testing Program have been reviewed and strengthened, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council has been reenergized. Departmental and institutional protocols relative to admissions, financial aid and eligibility have all been restructured in conjunction with campus leaders. Fresno State’s student-athletes have benefited significantly from these measures and, in conjunction with enhanced support services, they have fostered a better-quality experience that is reflected in greatly improved Academic Progress Rates, fewer Code of Conduct violations and extensive community service activity. Additionally, all athletics fundraising activities have been consolidated within the new Bulldog Foundation and philanthropic gifts to Athletics have risen to record levels.

The success of Bulldog studentathletes led Fresno State to three Western Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cups in a ﬁve-year span (2007-08, 2008-09 & 2011-12). Additionally, Sports Illustrated’s SI.com ranked Fresno State the nation’s 18th most accomplished NCAA Division I athletics program for 2007-08. Prior to his arrival in Fresno in July of 2005, Boeh spent the previous 10 years as the Director of Athletics at Ohio University, where he led the program to exceptional levels in numerous categories and earning numerous conference championships. In 2001, The Sporting News ranked Ohio’s department 32nd among the 115 NCAA I-A institutions, the highest ranking of any non-BCS program. The ranking included evaluations for competitive success, fan support, integrity and equity. Ohio earned an “A” rating in graduation rates and NCAA compliance and posted an eight-year high graduation rate of 73 percent in 2004.

Prior to his tenure at Ohio, Boeh served as Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs at Northwestern University, overseeing areas such as development, marketing, ticket operations, sports publications, media services, game management and broadcast properties. Boeh also led the popular “Expect Victory” campaign, Northwestern’s ﬁrstever multimedia marketing effort. Preceding Northwestern, Boeh served the University of Maine as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Administration and Development. He also spent time in a variety of roles with the Big Ten Television Network, The University of Illinois, and his alma mater, Loras College of Iowa. The Chicago-area native received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education with a minor in History at Loras in 1981, and a Master of Science degree in Athletic Administration from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1988.

Under Boeh’s leadership, Ohio was extremely aggressive in its efforts to achieve gender equity and compliance with Title IX. Three women’s sports programs were initiated during Boeh’s tenure, and in 2004 The Chronicle of Higher Education reported that Ohio ranked second nationally among all NCAA I-A institutions relative to the equity of men’s and women’s sport program expenditures.

Fresno State Athletics has been working closely with a nationally renowned consultant, a broad-based President-appointed ad hoc committee, and the Ofﬁce of Civil Rights to remedy all past gender equity issues and create at Fresno State a model Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletics program relative to Title IX compliance. One component of this effort is the addition of two new women’s sports; lacrosse and swimming & diving both began competition during the 2008-09 academic year. All athletics facilities have been evaluated and a 10year master plan, inclusive of the “Athletics Mall” and “Student-Athlete Village” has been developed and introduced to the community. Several projects have been completed to date, including a stateof-art aquatics venue, and construction scheduled for another cornerstone project, a sports medicine center.

Additionally, numerous women’s facilities were constructed; sports budgets were restructured and decision-making procedures were reorganized to establish what Boeh refers to as an “authentic gender-neutral environment.” Annual fundraising totals rose more than 500 percent and Ohio Athletics concluded the University’s Bicentennial Capital Campaign by exceeding its $10 million departmental goal.

In all, 44 facilities saw major renovation or new construction and Ohio’s athletics physical plant was recognized as being among the best and most efﬁcient in the Midwest.

Betsy Mosher is entering her eighth year at Fresno State and second as Deputy Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator after serving for the previous six years as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Program Integrity. She was named NACWAA’s 2012 Division I Football Bowl Subdivision Administrator of the Year. Mosher has formal oversight of all sport supervisors, supervisory capacity regarding student-athlete welfare issues, and is formally defined as the department’s top administrator in the absence of the Director of Athletics. During her tenure at Fresno State, Mosher’s guidance has been a key component in the athletics department’s unprecedented achievement by the student-athlete community in the areas of academic development , NCAA compliance, gender equity, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and student-athlete services. Mosher has helped guide the Bulldogs to significant improvements in the department’s Academic Progress Rate, equity in participation and financial aid and student-athlete welfare initiatives. Mosher has established herself as a national leader in fostering an elite and equitable student-athlete experience. She also plays a critical role in representing the institution at the conference level and oversaw the Bulldogs’ transition to the Mountain West Conference. Mosher came to Fresno State after spending three years (200205) as the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Administration and Compliance Services at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

At UMass, she was a member of the athletics department senior management team and was responsible for the formulation of the department’s strategic plan. Assisting with a campus response to a second round NCAA self study, Mosher oversaw the department’s compliance program, including the formulation of a systems manual and an upgrade of the recruitment monitoring system. Additionally, Mosher oversaw the admission process for student-athletes as well as served as a department liaison for personnel actions during a six month transition period. Mosher, who supervised women’s tennis, baseball and cross country and track and ﬁeld

Prior to UMass, Mosher spent six years (1996-2002) as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Compliance/SWA at Arizona State University. A member of ASU’s athletic senior management team, she oversaw the school’s compliance, academic and student services as well as the personnel areas. She also supervised the sports of volleyball, softball, soccer and wrestling while working closely with the women’s basketball program. Mosher served as a liaison to Arizona State’s general counsel, the school’s Intercollegiate Athletics Board, the Pacific-10 Conference and the NCAA. Representing the Sun Devils on numerous Pac-10 and NCAA committees, she was the 19992000 vice president of the Pac-10 council and former NCAA softball committee member. Mosher also assisted with the second round certification process at ASU and served as the OCR liaison. Prior to Arizona State, Mosher spent seven years (1989-96) at Northwestern. With five years as an assistant athletics director and two as an associate athletics director for intercollegiate services, she also served as the department’s SWA. Her primary duties for the Wildcats included oversight of compliance, academic services and athletics admissions as well as supervision of the baseball, women’s basketball, tennis and swimming programs. She was chair of the Big 10 Women’s Administrator’s Group and the Conference’s Rules and Legislation Committee. Prior to Northwestern, Mosher was a legislative assistant at the Big Ten Conference office (1988-89) and also served as an NCAA compliance representative (1986-88). Prior to her move into administration, Mosher was the head women’s basketball and softball coach at California State (Pa.) from 1980-85 and began her collegiate athletics career as the women’s basketball coach at WisconsinWhitewater (1977-79). Receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State in 1972, a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from Northern Colorado in 1976, and a Director’s Degree from Indiana University (1986), Mosher also was selected to attend the NACWAA Institute for Athletics Executive in the summer of 2002. Mosher is a current member of NACDA and NACWAA.

SENIOR ASSOCIATE A.D./ EXTERNAL RELATIONS Paul Ladwig is in his eighth year at Fresno State and second as the Senior Associate Athletics for External Relations after serving for the previous six years as the Associate Athletics Director over External Relations and Broadcasting. Ladwig joined the Bulldog the family

in September 2005. In addition to serving as the department’s primary spokesperson with oversight of advertising, communications, marketing, merchandising, licensing, ticket sales, video services and web operations,

From Network Television in Los Angeles to the slopes of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan to documentary work in Southeast Asia, his departments have grewn considerably under Ladwig’s direction.

JOHN KRIEBS

Ladwig has also assumed a primary leadership role in the Bulldog Foundation. He has been instrumental in the cultivation of philanthropic giving to Fresno State Athletics and student-athlete scholarships. During his tenure, Ladwig has led multiple reorganizations to allow for the integration and merging of all external communication and outreach under his direction. These measures have fostered more consistent processes that help promote and enhance Fresno State Athletics on a daily basis. He has built with stronger media partnerships and spearheaded the addition of a new videoboard at Bulldog Stadium and creation of environmentally-conscious virtual team guides. Ladwig is also a leader in developing attractive value oriented experiences for fans. A strong advocate of the importance of social media (and extremely active on Twitter @ PaulLadwig), he has also increased the exposure of Fresno State Athletics through the creation of the Bulldog Sports Network, the Bulldog Insider (a weekly television show dedicated solely to coverage of Bulldog Athletics) and finding fresh ways to tell Fresno State stories through new and existing media partnerships. His vision continues to bring fans superior story-telling that incorporate the latest technologies. Collaborating with media rights holder as the department’s liaison to Learfield Sports’ Bulldog Sports Properties, new and additional programming for radio and television were developed. Ladwig led the search for the addition of a living four-legged mascot to the Bulldog family, Victor E. Bulldog. People around the world curious about the Bulldogs will continue to log onto a constantly updating Gobulldogs.com website with expanded content, video and increased participatory site interaction. Fresno State Athletics Communications took the lead nationally in developing a paperless media guide in 2009. Environmental awareness, cost containment, and the ability to provide instant information to the media are several factors in the implementation of this paperless delivery system. With a vast and varied career, Ladwig came to Fresno State after serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Creative Services at Ohio University. At Ohio University, he was charged with ensuring an effective, consistent and progressive approach from game-day activities to marketing to image enhancement. Ohio saw a record-breaking sellout crowd at Peden Stadium when the Bobcats defeated Pittsburgh on ESPN in their 2005 home opener. Innovative, Ladwig was instrumental in creating the Ohio Sports Network, the refinement of Ohio University’s web presence and the production of programming for public television.

ASSOCIATE A.D./ FACILITIES & OPERATIONS

John J. Kriebs is in his 12th year at Fresno State, serving as associate athletics director for facilities and operations. Kriebs oversees Fresno State’s internal operations, including events, facilities, information technology, equipment, department fleet and serves as the sport supervisor for multiple teams. Kriebs is responsible for NCAA and WAC tournament bidding and management. He successfully brought the 2004 WAC basketball and three NCAA women’s basketball championships, including two Regionals in 2007 and 2012. He serves as the liaison for campus planning, parking, kinesiology and the concession operations. During his tenure, he spearheaded Fresno State’s transition into the $103 million Save Mart Center, coordinating construction and facility projects including the locker rooms, equipment and training rooms and the Bulldog Shop. Recently, he has overseen the construction of a state-of-the-art aquatics venue, lacrosse and soccer field, softball indoor batting cages and the planning for a new sports medicine center. Kriebs came to Fresno State after serving as an assistant athletics director at Southwest Missouri State from 1994-99. While there, he oversaw nine Olympic sports as well as budgeting, personnel and scheduling. Prior to his position at SMS, Kriebs was the Bears’ wrestling head coach from 1989-94. He was highly successful in that capacity, earning Midwest Regional Coach of the Year honors in 1994 and guiding the program’s first ever Division I All-American in any sport. In all, he coached 12 NCAA qualifiers and broke 15 school records. Kriebs’ coaching career began at the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as an assistant from 1984-89 and helped guide the Panthers to five top 10 finishes. The Dubuque, Iowa, native is a 1984 graduate of Northern Iowa, where he was a two-time AllAmerican wrestler. As a senior, he was the nation’s No. 1 ranked heavyweight. He qualified for the NCAA’s all four years and was picked to wrestle in the prestigious All-Star Wrestling Showcase. Kriebs has a wife, Geri, a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Jack.

STEVE ROBERTELLO ASSOCIATE A.D./ INTERCOLLEGIATE SERVICES

Steve Robertello joined the Fresno State Department of Athletics in December 2012 as the Associate Athletics Director of Intercollegiate Services. “We are fortunate to have Steve join the Bulldog family in this significant leadership role,” said Boeh on Robertello’s hiring. “His numerous years of exceptional experience at the Division I FBS level, combined with his demonstrated firm conviction that student-athlete welfare and “doing things the right way” are paramount, make him an ideal fit for Fresno State Athletics. The entire Bulldog community will benefit greatly from Steve’s guidance, insight and passion for intercollegiate athletics.” Robertello, a graduate of West Virginia University, will oversee the branches of compliance, student-athlete services, sports medicine and strength and conditioning. For the past 10 years, Robertello has worked at Washington State University. Most recently he served as the Associate Director of Athletics/ Compliance in Pullman where he directed the dayto-day operations of the WSU Athletics Compliance Office. Robertello served as a member of the WSU Athletics Department Executive Staff, as well as the Athletics Department liaison to the WSU Admissions Office. At the conference level, Robertello served on the Pac-12 Conference Legislative Committee and Recruiting Task Force. For the NCAA, he served on the Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee as a member (2008-12) and committee chair (201012) and was the NCAA Site Coordinator for the 2005 NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships first and second rounds. Prior to WSU, Robertello spent two and a half years as a Compliance Coordinator at Arizona State University, two years as an Athletics Compliance Office Assistant, and Assistant Director of Compliance at Villanova University and one year as a Athletic Compliance Office Graduate Assistant at West Virginia University. Robertello graduated from West Virginia with a Master’s of Science in Sport Management and Bachelor of Science.

RYAN REGGIANI ASSISTANT A.D./ EXTERNAL RELATIONS

Ryan Reggiani is in his fourth year at Fresno State and second as the Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations, managing the dayto-day functions of communications, marketing and video production services. Reggiani is a member of the Senior Leadership Team at Fresno State and has been the chair for several search committees. Reggiani manages media contracts, and serves as a liaison to Bulldog Sports Properties, an entity of Learfield Sports, and Legends Sales & Marketing. In the summer of 2012, Reggiani oversaw the website redesign and launch of gobulldogs.com, working with CBS College Sports, designing a user friendly website, with the latest social media aspects built in to give the best fan experience when visiting. While social media has taken off while Reggiani has been at Fresno State, the Athletics department’s Facebook page has tripled in likes and its Twitter handle has doubled in followers. The department’s focus from the external side has been focused on building a social media platform to engage fans of Fresno State at every level. With significant experience and strong ties to the San Joaquin Valley, he has covered high-profile colleges in some of the nation’s top media markets and placed an emphasis on maximizing new and existing revenue streams, social media platforms while providing engaging content with innovative technology. Prior to the 2011 football season, Reggiani led the marketing and ticket sales effort of the Battle of the Bay, featuring Fresno State football versus California at Candlestick Park. The thirdparty game provided a significant boost to the department’s budget, as over 14,000 tickets were sold through Fresno State and over 20,000 fans showed up to the neutral site game in San Francisco. In the spring of 2012, Reggiani was the Media Coordinator for the Women’s Basketball NCAA Regional hosted at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. Reggiani has served as the lead marketing coordinator for the Bulldog football program for the past three seasons, after three and a half years as an Assistant Media Relations Director with the University of Hawai’i Athletics Department. While at UH, Reggiani developed and managed the communications strategy for their sports teams. Reggiani received his master’s degree in sports administration from Saint Mary’s in 2005 and bachelor’s degree in mass communication and journalism from California State University, Fresno in 2001.

With an extensive background that includes prominent leadership positions at three NCAA Division I institutions as well as with the Big Ten Ofﬁce and the NCAA, Mosher’s duties at Fresno State include the supervision of ﬁve Bulldogs’ athletics programs (baseball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s basketball) as well as oversight of the department’s NCAA and Western Athletic Conference compliance programs, student-athlete services, the athletic training and the strength and conditioning departments. Mosher will serve as the SWA for conference and NCAA representation.

PHOTO REGULATIONS Credentials are record to shoot Fresno State Athletics events. The Fresno State Athletics Department reserves all commercial and non-commercial rights to the use of film, videotapes and still photographs of its athletics events and facilities.

Interview requests with student-athletes and coaches should be channeled through the Fresno State Athletics Communications Office. Please make your requests at least 24 hours in advance and always notify the Fresno State Athletics Communications Office if you plan on attending practice. Practices are generally open to the media, although the coaching staff reserves the right to close practice at any time. Interviews will be conducted with players or coaches before or after practice. Please remember that Fresno State’s training rooms and locker rooms are closed at all times. For practice schedules, you may check with the Fresno State Athletics Communications Office.
