WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD
... The land of desperate desire, broken dreams and shattered hearts I was born into the entertainment industry and have experienced a lifetime of ecstatic creativity, a plethora of rushing excitement, and an unbridled joy that seemed to always be followed by a crushing, plummeting, whirlpool of disappointment. One might ask themselves why would anyone continue to subject themselves to this personal abuse? Interestingly enough, there is an answer. But that answer needs to be analyzed and understood, as its source emanates from the root of creative energy, living deep within the person.
I proudly introduce you to: THE CREATIVES The life-energy of a Creative is experiential on a cellular level. It really isn’t a choice whether you create or not. Manifesting creativity it is like breathing air- if you want to live you’ve got to have it! I work in an industry that has relatively no loyalty, ethics, or morality. People you call friends will support your enemies in a desperate hope to procure more money, jobs, or the chance to further their careers. Even though you have been deeply hurt by known abusers, there is NO loyalty or true friendship afforded to you; as personal gain is the final answer in Hollywood.
#MeToo In The Media I am a member of the media and have a passion to change the ethics of how we report stories of human need. The media recently experienced a movement promoting women to come forward who had been victims of sexual harassment in the work place. Every time I saw #metoo, my heart screamed- #NotMe! I detest seeing women portrayed as victims. I believe we can all become victorious; First by coming forward, sharing our stories; then with great honesty look at whywhy me- why not you? I am a firm believer in God’s creation. I am also a firm believer that we as a society have lost the art of seeing God’s greatest creation though His eyes-not ours.
1
GOD MADE MAN IN HIS IMAGE - so- WHAT HAPPENED?! The Creatives yearn from the depth of their souls to share their gift with the world. We need a safe place to manifest our art. We need not be afraid, and know the art will be respected and honored. However, in the deepest recesses of our hearts, we know this will never be possible. Our industry dreams quickly turn into nightmares as we aimlessly produce more and more; never finding a home for the creative “babies” that are birthed from our very soul. After all, babies need to be born, and so the cycle of abuse begins. Many women fall prey to predators enticing them to believe they will fulfill their dreams of a major career. Some become desperate and lose their way. Quite frankly, this predator behavior is a well known and an accepted part of the society we call Hollywood. I am committed to speak to the WOMEN- not the predator! We in the media pay far too much attention to the lawless instead of applying God’s law to our women who have fallen prey.
#NotMe IS A MOVEMENT #NotMe is a movement of personal accountability and self-esteem. You might be thinking I am referring to personal self esteem, but real and visceral self-esteem is found in the Heavenly placesnot on the streets of Sunset Blvd! I will take you through a literary “movie” of Hollywood and The Casting Couch. I have been working with two amazing young interns from Schreiner University in Texas. Part of this anthology is written for them- to protect and guard them from the mine fields of this industry. Abuse has its’ own agenda and can camouflage its intent like a master magician! We must protect not only ourselves, but we must be there for ALL women! My message to the #metoo’s is come on over to the #NotMe’s! Women have to stop being victims and realize they CAN be victorious! No one that decides to walk this walk can do it alone! This is faith and purity of intent in action! We need the support of America to lift up our women, protect them, re-educate society, and most importantly, introduce them to who they truly are: Perfect works of art, a divine masterpiece, and hand-crafted by God Himself.
I proudly introduce you to God’s mighty masterpiece, the #Not Me WOMAN! In loving gratitude, Freya Pruitt Producer/Editor in Chief/Public Figure

THE CASTING COUCH HOLLYWOOD 911 #NOT ME
HOLLYWOOD
HOME OF THE DREAM... HOME OF DESPERATION AND DEFEAT HOME OF “THE CASTING COUCH”
Since 1913, young aspiring actresses have flooded into the bright lights of Hollywood desperately searching for that special break that would make them a star. Their innocence and beauty adorned Sunset Blvd. The blooming starlets canvased Los Angeles California: The home of the US Film Industry. Illuminated by their inner light of hope, these innocents stood in countless lines hoping for an audition, hoping to become an extra, or most importantly, just hoping be SEEN! Without doubt, all of these young actresses expected to be “discovered” by a producer or director, a major studio, or a casting director. Looking back at history, many sat at the soda bar at Schwab’s Pharmacy hoping to catch the eye of a famous star or director. Syndicated gossip columnist Sidney Skoltsky of The New York Daily News, was the first journalist to use the word “Oscar” for The Academy Award and actually used Schwab’s as his official office in 1933! Skolsky actually made “Schwab’s Hollywood Drug Store” famous as he launched his new column in “Photoplay”; which became the premiere movie magazine in the US! Aptly named: “ From A Stool At Schwab’s”, ”Photoplay” witnessed countless starlets fighting in lines to get a seat! But it was actually The Hollywood Reporter who discovered 16 year old Lana Turner sitting on one of those famous stools: Photoplay made Schwab’s THE place for every hopeful starlet in Hollywood to be discovered- to be seen- to become a star. But what happened IF they actually WERE “discovered”? What happened when they went to 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Warner Brothers, or MGM? What happened when they met the many producers and directors at Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, or Columbia Pictures? Did they get a chance to read for a part? Did they get a screen test- pictures- hair, make up...possibly a publicist? At the The Hollywood Hopeful Hangout of Schwab’s, everything seemed legit, but what did they find behind the scenes? Many times it was like lambs being lead to the slaughter. A director, producer, or casting director would gently lead them to The Casting Couch. They would offer them a cocktail, turn on some soft music and subliminally suggested there was something else they could do to get that part. A well-know piece of Hollywood history, many unsuspecting hopefuls ultimately succumbed to the “couch”. They assumed the couch had the power, believing this was the only way to become a star. They also assumed the couch would ensure their future as they succumbed over and over again, chasing that unknown dream roll, falling lower and lower into the pit of despair and hopelessness. 3
The “chase” always met with a dead end and the smoke and mirrors of the devil himself, continued to entice and control the innocent victims of: “The Casting Couch”. Eventually, all were in for a heart wrenching reality check, as “the couch” was a way of life with the studios. The Casting Couch was actually a part of accepted Hollywood society- a cuisine of sorts- with a never ending appetite for beautiful women hoping to become stars. This aberration of humanity has been a staple of the dark side of the film industry since its inception and was only blatantly exposed in the media with the Harvey Wienstien scandal in 2017. Fact: It took over 100 years of Hollywood deviant behavior, to blow the lid off the most accepted, constant, continued, abuse in American history. But why do some submit and some say no? Looking back in US history, women only earned the right to vote in 1920: Actually, not that long ago! Ratified on August 18 1920 the 19th amendment to the constitution granted American women the right to vote- a right known as “woman suffrage”. Women have been fighting for equality for centuries, but even in The New Millennium, the fight is hardly over! Take the Harvey Wienstien horror that has sensationalized The Casting Couch as a way of life! Wienstien took the number one spotlight award, as the number one deviant in Hollywood! Hollywood mimicked being surprised, but truthfully, this deviant behavior has been going on in Hollywood since the beginning of time! Only in this particular case, multiple women SPOKE UP! Actresses like Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Gweneth Paltrow, Rosanna Arquette, and many more have come forward. Disgustingly, Wienstien’s only statement was: “He’s sorry and he’s going into rehab” - WHAT?! This adds insult to injury, and illustrates the absolute non-acceptance that sexual harassment is WRONG; that it is demeaning and hurtful, and sometimes causes horrific emotional pain and suffering throughout a woman’s life! It is a positive foot forward that women felt comfortable enough to come out on social media to say #MeToo. In fact over 1.7 million women have used the hashtag #me too in 85 different countries! There are many theories being reported on the purpose of such a campaign. But I quite frankly, see #metoo portraying women as victims- not as victors! This campaign enticed women to come forward to expose this abusive behavior to the light, but left them in the dark when they needed continued support, therapy and consolement. #Metoo does nothing to address the WHY of how some women fall prey and some don’t! #MeToo encouraged women to come forward to form some sort of a spiritual “bond”... to say no- this is not OK! But what are they doing now? Are they organizing another protest or march? Are they getting therapy, family and social support? Did the practically 2 million women CONTINUE their groups, or after speaking out, did they find themselves alone once again suffering in silence? The Casting Couch didn’t stop- the abuse didn’t stop- and therapeutic answers never came! These women were left as victims, with no support to heal their wounds
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT STARTS WITH YOU: #NotMe! 4
A MESSAGE TO WOMEN IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY By: Freya Pruitt
To my fellow “Creatives” I work in an industry that has relatively no loyalty, ethics, or morality. People you call friends will support your enemies in a desperate hope to procure more money, jobs, or the chance to further their careers. Even though you have been deeply hurt by known abusers, there is NO loyalty or true friendship afforded to you; as personal gain is the final answer in Hollywood. Because of the media frenzy- and only for that reason- the Harvey Wienstein horror has been revealed. The intense media bravado has devoured this story and spoon fed it to a hungry yet “shocked” America! In puesdo outrage, Hollywood is just now addressing an abhorrent behavior that has been an accepted and known practice since the inception of “the business”! Women who were victimized are now called out to speak and name their abusers. They join the millions of other #Metooer’s only to find themselves exploited and victimized once again. They have nowhere to turn to heal their open wounds and ugly scars. The unseen wounds continue to evilly attack what is left of their self-esteem. The “group” is just that- a group: A group of women speaking out- crying out- trying to find the light- only to find themselves left alone in the dark once again. What is missing beyond the cry, is the WHY. Why do some fall prey to predatory behavior, and some don’t? This is a tough industry and many think their life is on the line if they don’t get that next job! When you are a “Creative” your creative energy is your life source; it IS your life! When your “talent” is out looking for a “job”, it is actually looking for a place to “live”. Powered by a creative force to live, young women easily fall prey to the “dream” of the next great roll, the next great movie, the next hope of a record deal, and the fear they will never GET that next chance. Women fall prey to fear and desperation as well as becoming prey to the feeding frenzy of the Hollywood predator. Their desperate desire to work their craft, greatly compromises their ability to say noknowing they may never work again if they don’t say yes! If you understand the phenomenon, you can understand how easily some are manipulated and controlled. There is no condemnation here. This is a call to action to say #NotMe because you are God’s child, carrying God’s creative gifting. LOOK IN THE MIRROR! Who do you see? If it is anything less than God’s perception of His creation, then your are seeing the smoke and mirrors of the devil enticing you to believe you are “less than”:
Say no! #NotMe- never again!
5
I was born into this industry, and guess I have been plain lucky! I have been blessed with a firm and rooted foundation and understanding that my talent is God’s- not mine. Maybe that’s why I was spared from the casting couch, but rest assured; I was never spared from the lack of ethics, loyalty, and authentic friendships that have pierced my heart and greatly saddened my spirit. We can vilify Harvey Wienstein, but that will do nothing to cure the deep disease in Hollywood. The cunning deceit of the devil’s smoke and mirrors are everywhere, and we all at any given moment, can fall prey to #metoo instead of being able to say #NotMe!- as this disease is absolutely everywhere. I reach out to ALL women in the entertainment industry and wish to impart some life-saving wisdom. Your career and talent comes from God. You need to build a wall of understanding around that creation, then proceed with YOU at the helm of your ship! There are very few people in this industry who will love and support you; so don’t bother trying to find them! Look in the MIRROR! It is there you will see God’s reflection of who you truly are! The reflection in the mirror will speak God’s wisdom, God’s foundation, and God’s firm set of life-saving rules into your damaged spirit. He will restore His life back into you. He will insulate you so you will never be tempted to compromise your value again. This relationship with God can be a very lonely road, but it is a safe road and will insulate your talent, spirit, and integrity. I love and support you all and pray for your talent to soar and find it’s pure and heart-felt home. Let us build a bridge of communication and support to allow others to know they are not alone. We Creatives fly high in the heavenly places. We are open, sensitive, and vulnerable. We have wings but they easily break. We need each other for support. We need each other to say never again; no, #NotMe!
#NotMe
6
IF GOD CREATED MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE The #metoo movement has created a platform for women to speak out, but has provided absolutely NO answer to the problem of WHY some women fall prey to sexual advances, harassment, etc. At #NotMe we are NOT talking rape, as rape is a totally different aberration of sick behavior. We are also NOT talking about children; although sexual abuse in young children creates a perfect breeding ground for falling prey to sexual harassment in adulthood. Once the dark breeding ground has been established, a person subtly loses their power without even knowing it! The evil one grazes on what is left of our selfesteem, creating a vicious self-perpetuating cycle of thinking accepting abuse is OK. There is no fault or blame in this statement; this is simply a matter of confusion trapped deep in the breeding ground of our un-seen negativity. Our spiritual eyesight suddenly becomes blurred, seeing ourselves diminished instead of em-powered. We must first identify the illusion, then decide to look to God’s eyes to regain our identity. The decision becomes the release- it is that simple. But the real work begins with our resistance to letting go of everything we have ever known. The term walk by faith not by sight, means just that! You get to trust first- you don’t get to see or know the outcome before the change occurs! Regaining our soul’s eyesight creates the road to our spiritual freedom. Breaking the chains of bondage requires a constant unraveling road that inevitably leads to the term self-worth. Our Creator created every hair on your head, has wiped each teach from your cheek, and has held you up in every storm. God does not exist to make things perfect; He gives you the strength through faith to go on. Christ is not a religion, He is the avenue to a real and visceral relationship with our Heavenly Father. He provides fellowship with The Holy Spirit who helps us walk out our lives on earth. When Jesus told us HOW to pray, He said: “On earth as it is in Heaven”! He meant those Words and gave us a specific road map as to how to attain this through Him. If the world lived this simple yet profound premise, there would be no war, no violence, or self destruction. We could live “Love Never Fails” as we cared for our fellow man, as we reached out to help each other, as we moved in unison to make sure #metoo never happened again! These words are so beautifully sung through the words of Carrie Underwood in her record: “Jesus Take The Wheel”. How true- how profound. We are all broken in some way. But we do not have to stay that way!
7
THEN THE ANSWER LIES IN THE MIRROR! #NotMe stands for restoration, transformation and healing. We all need each other: I can do nothing on my own. I can only look toGod to show me the true me. Since He created me, He holds my perfect reflection, my perfect heart, soul, and mind in the warmth of His loving hands. We all have a destiny to accept or deny. I believe the first and foremost acceptance of our destiny, is to be able to see who we are in God’s eyes. If we look in the mirror and the mirror shatters, we can look to God to give us the fortitude to get the Super Glue and fix it! At some point in everyone’s life, we decide to bow our heads and pick up the pieces of our own shattered lives. There is power in each broken piece we recover from the darkness. As we trust enough to pick up something we think can hurt us, a miraculous thing happens. The hands of Christ reaches down and willingly takes each piece of our shattered lives and transforms it into His strength and power.
He sees us as He created us. As He picks up our hurts and burdens, He carries them away and washes our pain away. Grace is a powerful force and it is yours to utilize for free! #NotMe is a media force to serve the abused and carry you towards healing. We will stand with you as we create a global network of over-comers-not victims!
We will learn to dance and not cry. We will learn to stand and not fall. And after our lives have ended, we will shout in a triumphant unison to Heaven. #NotMe Lord- not me- we are finally free!
