This comprehensive report delves into a dark chapter of the 19th century, uncovering an intriguing piece of history that connects The Grapes to murders. In those days, watermen supplemented their income by dragging intoxicated patrons down the back stairs of The Grapes, drowning them in the Thames, and then selling their bodies to teaching hospitals. The research aims to unravel the intricate web of the rampant corpse trade during the Victorian era, shedding light on the historical factors that fueled this macabre practice.
The research employs a unique approach, predominantly utilizing fiction as a methodological tool. While crafting individual profiles for each character and weaving together their motivations, this study aims to construct a vivid tapestry depicting the medical, economic, legal, and political aspects of the time. The incorporation of a water perspective, emanating from the eyes of the city‘s ancient non-living entity, adds depth to the narrative, observing the journey of life and death.
In addition, the book prompts readers to contemplate ethics and ponder why, in that era, corpses were valued more than the living. It also raises questions about whether our principles should align with procedural justice or consequential justice.

Surgeon’s Scrapbook of Spatial Anatomy
Research and scenarios for future hospitals and urban health infrastructuresbased on the development of body cognition(exemplified by St Bartholomew Hospital) Supervisor: ColinThom,JaneWong The perception of our bodies and diseases has evolved significantly over centuries, deeply influencing the architecture and organization of hospital spaces. Modern hospitals, often perceived as cold and complex, reflect a shift from a holistic understanding of the body to a segmented, technology-driven approach to healthcare. This transition mirrors broader historical changes in body cognition—from the humoral theory in medieval times, which integrated hospitals into community life, to the functional, specialized designs inspired by advancements in medical science, such as the Nightingale wards and modernist influences highlighted by Beatriz Colomina in X-Ray Architecture. The evolution of hospital spaces and body perception presents a compelling narrative of how our understanding of the human body and disease has profoundly influenced the design and functionality of medical facilities.
By tracing this evolution, we can better appreciate how historical perceptions of the body have shaped the spaces where healing occurs. This reflection also prompts us to consider how, after such a long history, a city-center hospital might face the future. In a post-COVID era and an age increasingly focused on mental health, what new architectural and urban forms will emerge?
As we examine this dynamic interplay, it becomes clear that hospitals not only serve medical functions but also shape and are shaped by their urban environments.
St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London exemplifies this evolution, transitioning from a community health center to a specialized institution within a rapidly changing cityscape. Understanding these historical and architectural transformations offers insight into the future roles of hospitals in urban healthcare systems, emphasizing the need for flexible, integrated, and human-centric designs to meet contemporary health challenges.
The aim of the project is to challenge the existing adaptive relationship between the hospital and the times, where the hospital stands at the intersection of the body-city, and the images show the past, present and future that the hospital faces.

Gaze & Encounter
Transforming Windows into Extensions Linking School and Community
Group project, postgraduation project
The Gaze and Encounter project presents an innovative approach to repurposing existing facilities and structures into an educational campus. Through the strategic implementatio of removable structures, particularly windows, the proiect aims to foster a vibrant learning environment and encourage interaction among users. This initiative seeks to create learning opportunities beyond traditional classroom settings and establish dynamic "in-between" spaces.
Based on the problem of identity anxiety in contemporary society, the work takes the text of the Dream of red Mansions as the narrative research object, and designs an antique market in the Bell and Drum Tower Square. Facing the situation of "identity anxiety" in contemporary social life, the architectural elements such as structure, wall and interface, passageway, stairs and roof are organized to edit the spatial relationship from the perspective of "identity anxiety" in a narrative way, and form a temporary exhibition, consumption and social space design -- "Masquerade" market. The design refers to all kinds of identity relations in contemporary society from the text roles, and the market becomes a "phenomenon field" where various identities collide.
Waste Produced In A Day
Garbage Problem
Every morning I get up and I take care of my skin. I have a lot of makeup, and washcloths and cotton pads.
I usually make my own breakfast, sometimes I buy sandwiches or bread. After I eat I drive to work.
Garbage contains many disease- offsetting. Hospital environmental pollution and Garbage is a global problem. All the world's cities produce 1.3 billion tons of municipal solid waste each year, and by 2025, that number will reach 2 billion. Two billion tons of garbage, that's the equivalent of a long line of garbage trucks that can fill up to 5,000 kilometers a day, which is the distance from Beijing to Bangkok. Our rubbish has piled up like a mountain.
The mountain of garbage disposal not only takes a toll on people's health, but also endangers other life on earth.Waste and management education and advocacy are increasingly important for global resource management.
In fact, the effect of these education and publicity is not ideal, people do not know how much harm their way of life will bring to nature. How to warn people of the harm of garbage and solve the garbage problem from the source, the immersive museum may be a way.
In the office, I have to sort out a lot of paperwork. For lunch, I often order takeaway or buy a quick meal from a convenience store.
The History Of The Exhibition
Before I go home from work, I go to the supermarket to buy food and necessities. I also buy a lot of deliveries and it's easy to shop online now.
I have a lot of clothes, but I still buy a lot of new clothes every season. After dinner, I wash up and go to bed.
