Friends Academy

2014-2015

annual report

Dear Friends: It’s a great time to be a student at Friends Academy. Your eyes and ears will tell you that Friends is a vibrant, engaged, and exciting place to be, every day. Take a moment to look around. What do you see? You see teachers guiding students through integrated learning programs that engage them at every level from academics and sports to art and music. Outside, you might see children learning about beekeeping and gardening. You may also see students testing their endurance as they run through the backfields training for the next Turkey Trot. At the preschool, you’ll likely see children exploring natural playscapes. And while waiting in car line, you might see science students investigating nature on the front lawn. Now listen to the sounds around you. You might hear music coming from the Commons as students learn how to play recorders and violins and xylophones. You might hear the soft buzz of the new 3-D printer and the gentle guiding voice of teachers instructing students on how to use this exciting technology. Outside, you’ll hear shouts from the open doors of the gymnasium, or the shrill whistle of the referee as he or she teaches the finer points of lacrosse or soccer to enthusiastic young players. And inside and outside, you hear the ring of laughter, of exuberant young voices eager to share, explain and encourage. Many aspects of this special place to learn and grow are made possible because of you. Your generosity enables Friends Academy to introduce new programs and enhance existing ones. Your support ensures that students have access to the latest technology and learn unusual and valuable skills. Your giving helps Friends Academy maintain the delicate balance of providing children with the best of the natural world, while enabling them to harness the science of tomorrow.

Every effort has been made to avoid errors in this Annual Report. If you gave a gift in the 2014-2015 fiscal year and your

It is a constant cycle. There is always something new to bring to Friends Academy, and there is always something old to fix or update. The Friends Academy Fund ensures that everything runs smoothly—from mundane things like boiler upgrades and stair railings, to exciting ones like 3-D printers, rock climbing walls, and teaching kitchens. All are important. All are necessary. And all are made possible because of your support.

Ways You Can Give When considering a gift to Friends Academy there are many ways you can give. To find out more about these options, please contact Jodi Pink, Director of Development, at 508-999-1356, or via email at jpink@ friendsacademy1810.org. Cash

Unrestricted gifts of cash are the most popular and easiest way to support Friends Academy. Gifts may be made as a single contribution or pledged and paid in installments through the end of the fiscal year ending on June 30th. Credit Card

Friends Academy accepts Master Card and Visa. You may make a gift online at www.friendsacademy1810.org or call the Development Office with your credit card number and expiration date. Appreciated Securities

Gifts of stocks or securities benefit both the donor and the school. The donor can avoid capital gains tax on the increased value of the appreciated stocks and receive a deduction for the full, fair market value of the stock at the time the gift is made to the school. To make a gift of stock to Friends Academy, please contact the school’s Development Office to let us know of your intentions. Have your broker transfer securities to the school’s account at: BayCoast Financial Services, 508-742-4721. The account number for Friends Academy is 5DQ-379874 and the DTC# is 0443. Our account representative is Nate Rego. Matching Gifts
