When we speak of learning development, we often forget the social and emotional aspects of cultural differences. In Effective Diverse Classrooms, we will focus on how diversity can lead to creating a harmonious and productive environment that ensures inclusive learning. Using action based research you as the educator, will be able to develop a framework of effectiveness in understanding how to plan and manage for cultural differences. This class will be a great opportunity to discover and implement research that improves classroom management and student performance. Many teacher-developed strategies will be introduced that can help you create a relevant, rigorous and caring learning environment. An additional fee of $80, payable by check to Jon Maska, is due the first day of class. This course is an online class. Participants will use Moodle to complete their work. As teachers, we always think about ways we can engage our students in the learning process. Although it would be great is there were simple answers, reality tells us otherwise. Understanding cultural differences is a major factor when it comes to getting all of our students involved. Using what they learned from Effective Diverse Classrooms, teachers will have an exciting opportunity to apply practical strategies into their lessons. Engagement Training for Effective Diverse Classrooms extends the learning process and allows the teachers to implement research-based strategies that sustain support for the everyday needs of ALL CHILDREN! The teacher-designed strategies will offer a chance for teachers to be self-reflective and find different ways to meet the needs of diverse students. If you are in search of engaging all your students to meet the expectations and skills necessary for learning, this is a class for you!
