CANCELLED Escape from the norm of your weekly classroom schedule and plan an exciting Digital Escape Room for your students. Digital Escape Rooms engage students while requiring them to use critical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication skills to solve a set of challenges designed around a specific content area or objective. Digital Escape Rooms allow educators of all levels and subject areas to expand curriculum, while meeting the needs of all learners. In this workshop, educators will gain the skills and strategies to move beyond a segmented lesson plan to discover the power and excitement generated by intentional connected learning in Digital Escape Rooms. Focus will be on planning and creating a Digital Escape Room that can be used cross-curricular and encourages student engagement, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking as well as real connections. Educators will create an DigitalEscape Room that can be used immediately in the classroom. This course is an online class. Participants will use Moodle to complete their work. The disruption to the educational system over the past months has every teacher up late worrying about students. It is not uncommon to question if we are doing enough or even the right things to give students what they need to succeed. What are the instructional strategies that we can incorporate into lessons that will give the biggest bang for the buck? This workshop will explore effect sizes and evidence based strategies. After gaining an understanding and familiarity with some of the strategies with the highest effect, participants will create plans to incorporate these strategies into any subject or lesson.
