Central Frontenac is a welcoming community with numerous lakes, rivers, rocks and streams and we provide a range of activities for all to enjoy. There is something for everyone, whether it is hiking, camping, relaxing at a cottage or joining in by attending a music event, attending the farmers’ market or just sitting on a beach and enjoying the scenery. We encourage residents and visitors to explore the 2018 guide and plan to attend some or all of the activities we have to offer. We appreciate this beautiful area and will happily share it with you!!! Frances Smith Mayor Central Frontenac.

2018 North & Central Frontenac Recreation Guide Sandi Slater Memorial Walk is a central feature of this conservation area. The trail is a stunning, 5km walk through forest, rocks, over streams and hills and boasts a number of lookouts, and benches that offer gorgeous views of Bass Lake and the surrounding area. The trail was established by Joe Slater in memory of his wife Sandi. It is the product of scores of generous donations and countless hours of volunteer labour. Meisel Woods Conservation Area is located at 1392 Anderson Road North. From Road #38 turn east onto Crow Lake Road. Turn right onto Anderson Road for approximately .5 km then turn right again on Anderson; 1 km ahead on the right hand side is the trailhead. NORTH FRONTENAC DARK SKIES PRESERVE: North Frontenac is lucky to have some of the most southerly exceptional dark skies in Canada. The darkest region in the area, known as the ‘Dark Peninsula’, encompasses four counties, Frontenac, Lennox-Addington, Hastings and Renfrew. For millions of people in southern Canada and the north-east US, this is the best view of the night sky and the Milky Way that they will most likely experience. The Dark Sky Preserve is a public space with amenities, including parking, washroom, electrical service and the concrete pad, where anyone can set up their telescope and enjoy the dark skies, weather permitting. It is located at 5816 Road 506 (44.91791, -76.93947) just south of Plevna. Please check the North Frontenac Website www.northfrontenac. com or our facebook page at www.facebook. com/NFDSP/ for event times and updates to activities throughout the year This year’s events are scheduled for May 12, June 16, July 14, August 11, August 12-13, September 1, and October 6. (See events pages for details) NORTH FRONTENAC PARK LANDS is a collection of 184 backcountry campsites nestled along the shores of 11 lakes atop the Madawaska Highlands and Mississippi Valley watershed. Carved from the Precambrian granite of the Canadian Shield, North Frontenac Park Lands were 2 ½ billion years in the making. Residing entirely on crown land, it remains one of the most pristine natural environments in the province. North Frontenac Park Lands is frequently chosen as an outdoor adventure destination by a variety of youth groups and organizations such as Scouts Canada and the Easter Seal Society as well as a variety of boys’ and girls’ day camps. A trip to North Frontenac Park Lands is fun and educational.
Why not make an overnight camping excursion or just a day canoeing or exploring.
