How it All Began ML was born in 1985, the brainchild of Mick Neville and Brett Thurley, as a rope and handle company manufacturing products for waterski enthusiasts. Since those humble beginnings in the garage at Aspley, ML has grown into a global Watersports company offering a wide variety of products servicing the entire spectrum of watersports activities. In 1993 the USA and European markets were taken over by the current owners of Masterline USA and the Australian and Pacific divisions continued as ML until the present day. Our full range of products is featured on our website but includes both hardgoods – wakeboards, skis, kneeboards, skates and bindings – as well as an entire line of softgoods - covers, bags, gloves, tubes, phat sacs, buoyancy and more…… Since Day 1 the ML philosophy has always been to provide high quality performance driven products backed by “on-the-water” marketing support and retail in-store promotion. The new ropes and handles featured in this catalogue represent a return to our roots and a reaffirmation of everything ML stands for as we strive to fulfil our philosophy with an industry leading rope and handle range
The Rope and Handle Story
Completely redesigned from the ground up We start with utilising only the best materials available, the best yarn, the best aluminium, the best suppliers that we can source all over the world. Not content with that we then put together a select team of athletes, who promote and put back into the sport, and are proud to test our equipment and put their signature on. And not stopping there we realise that sometimes the most important part is at the final point of sale so we have designed all the rope and handle items to provide a simple easy to follow, well presented story on the retail shelf. Easy for the sales staff and easy for the consumer
Promotion and support A team of influential riders across boat, cable, freeride and rail, who are happy to help us test and refine our products on the water every day. Who help us put back into the sport through events, demo days and in store support. A team of riders who are happy to put their name to the ML product. Developing a recognizable brand name – ML - with a unique image we are proud of.
Quality - It’s what’s inside that counts Every ML rope and handle item will use the best possible materials available anywhere in the world for that product use and that price point. Not content to just use the standard handle and end cap system and rebrand it with our own name we went out and designed our own unique end cap and rope interface for both waterski and wakeboard handles alike. The wakeboard handles are the lightest on the market today and have a patent pending 3 piece welded end cap system.
In- Store Presentation Making the range easy to follow and easily identifiable on the retail shelf, both for sales staff and customers alike. Each products display card is boldly labelled for its purpose – wakeboarding, kneeboarding, skiing, tubing. A customer browsing for a kneeboard rope will immediately be led to that section. Each item has product group desciptions on the back and looking further every item has a swing tag which further details the features of that particular model.

Masterline USA Originally started in the early 1990’s in the USA by Mick Neville and then awarded to the current owners a few years later, Masterline USA has developed a top end high performance specialist range of ropes and handles directed at the top section of tournament skiing. ML Australia has recently begun importing selected items from this range to help service this market.
