Adults tend to encourage playfulness in children, but don’t make it a priority for themselves. Shawnta’ Ray and Rick Harmon, co-owners of the Clayton toy store Happy Up, Inc., are determined to change that.

Ray and Harmon run a business together, are husband and wife, and are parents. eir days are lled with responsibilities and demands on their time. “Playing keeps us grounded and keeps us happy,” Shawnta’ Ray said in a recent conversation. “When we say we’re toy experts, we mean it. We play with everything here.”

“With kids, imagination is huge.” Rick Harmon said, “For grown-ups, it’s more about stress-relief. A lot of what they get are things they can play with at their desks.” He went on to point out several desk-friendly toys they stock. “ ere’s nothing better than getting a buttoned-up adult to shoot a Pop Rocket or try inking Putty. It helps them remember they want toys, too!”

“And games!” Ray said. “We want families to play together. So that means games that are fun for everyone. Parents shouldn’t feel punished by the games they play with their kids.” She pointed out several games that are fun for a wide range of ages.

Harmon gushed about Timeline, one of his favorites for large groups. “Your job is to put cards in order on the timeline. It’s challenging and really fun!”

“We have two November events to promote play for everyone.”Ray said. “Neighborhood Toy Store Day and the Clayton Holiday Shop and Stroll. We hope to see lots of grown-ups goo ng o and laughing. With or without their kids!” Ray said.

it’s the most wonderful time of the year, but sometimes you may not agree. Holiday shopping, crowds, cooking, baking, entertaining, sending cards, and attending every party can really take its toll. When you begin to feel overwhelmed, experts agree it’s time to take care of yourself.

Don’t try to be Martha Stewart. Stop thinking that the holiday season is about being "perfect".

Stress can be overcome if you do less and enjoy the holidays more. Don’t feel guilty. It’s as simple as saying no, when you really don’t feel like doing something.

Tips to reduce tension include exercise. It may be the last thing you feel like doing, but going for a brisk walk, run or workout at the gym can make you feel so much better. (Research shows that workouts can boost your mood for up to 12 hours.) Go for a relaxing swim at your local indoor pool. After all, swimming is the best exercise. Stay happy, healthy, and energized by eating well. Keep away from sugary, fatty, and unhealthy snacks. Eat three healthy meals a day and focus especially on vegetables and proteins. Of course, some indulgences every now and then are allowed.

Watch your alcohol intake. One or two drinks a few times a week is ideal. But allow yourself to unwind after a busy day. Have a glass of wine with dinner. Better yet, have a cuppa tea! Get a good night's sleep. During the day, take a nap. This is time to shut your eyes and put your feet up. Try yoga. Meditate or sit in a state of silence and peace. Allow the peace to take over your body and mind.

Treat yourself to a massage or a spa visit. A facial, manicure, pedicure or complete makeover will certainly boost your spirits.

Don’t try to be Martha Stewart. Stop thinking that the holiday season is about being "perfect". Let go of your need to control everything. Ask for help and delegate meal preparation, gift selection, and gift-wrapping. Stop sending out all those Christmas cards, and reduce the list of gifts you will give this year,

Where to go for yoga in and near the city

There is no reason to not take a yoga class.

According to Annie Trachsel, co-owner of Joy of Yoga studio in St. Louis’s Lindenwood neighborhood, yoga is for everyone. A person cannot be too old, to young, too out of shape, or too overweight to begin taking yoga classes.

Of course there are the physical rewards from practicing yoga regularly, most notably a longer, leaner physique and improved posture, but yoga doesn’t only do a body good, it can increase feelings of overall mental and emotional well-being. Because yoga encourages participants to focus on their breathing and to get in touch with their bodies, participants will often feel their stress levels decrease after just one session. Those who are recovering from injuries can also reap the benefits of gentle yoga techniques. Focused breathing can help improve oxygen levels, which promotes faster healing and feelings of increased energy. The type of controlled stretching that is quintessential to yoga can help strengthen and repair muscles that have experienced pain or injury. Trachsel has witnessed this benefit first hand, following an injury that put her in a body cast as a child. She learned that many of the stretches that she incorporated into her daily rehabilitation regime were, in fact, yoga poses. Trachsel felt the therapeutic benefits from these stretches, and continued to practice them as she healed from her injuries. Unfortunately, Trachsel faced another injury later in life. Following the experience, Trachsel had to relearn to walk. She once again found relief from her pain through yoga. It is not difficult to understand Trachsel’s passion for yoga. For her, it has been a practice that has restored her health and improved her morale during difficult experiences, and that continues to help her feel her very best physically, mentally, and emotionally. Joy of Yoga is a studio that strives to impart feelings of warmth and a sense of community from the moment you walk in the door. Montes and Trachsel did not rely on commercial interior design when they decided to open a yoga studio. The interior is best described as organic and a labor of love from Montes and Trachsel together with their families. The studio is the first to open in the Lindenwood neighborhood, and those members of the community who once

saw walking in the park as their main means of exercise, are now walking with their yoga mats in tow, devoted to an activity they previously thought “wasn’t for them”.

Trachsel and her co-owner, Joy Montes offer classes for all walks of life, from novice to expert, at their studio. Children, too, can experience the benefits of yoga, and at Joy of Yoga, there is a class designed to meet the unique needs of the younger set.

City dwelling yogis do not need to travel far to find highly qualified instructors in a welcoming environment. Southtown Yoga, located on Lafayette Square, offers yoga classes for all experience levels, and all ages. For parents seeking an active way to spend time with their children, Southtown Yoga offers Big Yogi, Little Yogi classes on Saturday mornings. This class is aimed towards children ages two to six years old, and their parents. Older children can take a yoga class on Thursday afternoons. Kid’s yoga incorporates literature, music, and meditation into a fun-filled hour of healthy activity.

Southtown Yoga also offers several yogahour classes at numerous times throughout the day. The class is $7 and provides instruction for every level of experience. The studio also holds several daily classes that are designed with the experienced yogi in mind. For those who are seeking to ring in the New Year in a healthful and active manner, Southtown Yoga was the first studio in the area to offer a January yoga challenge. For $75, you can take one class per day from January 1st-30th. If you go to one class per day for those 30 days, your name is entered into a drawing for one year of free yoga classes.

The studio’s weekend workshops, which are held throughout the year, bring nationally renowned instructors to St. Louis, and their teacher training, which begins in February, produces expert level asana instructors.

Victorian, bustled, finely-dressed lady mannequins are demurely posed in the street windows on 4732 McPherson Avenue. At first, you might have the feeling that you’re in the wrong place. However, much to your delight and surprise, you have entered Enchanting Embellishments, a fantastic boutique full of designer clothing, artistic home décor, fun and fine jewelry, amazing accessories, fascinating furniture and art.

Every step you take is a journey. A dress you want to wear, a purse you want to carry, and a pause you have taken in order to absorb your surroundings. Check out the chic clothing styles of Joseph Ribkoff, Cartise, or Simon Chang; pick up leather jackets and purses from Kippy, beaded handbags from Mary Frances, and designer leather bags from Due Fratelli. The boutique also boasts two apartments showcasing paintings, lamps and accessories, contemporary bedrooms and bathrooms elegantly staged with brilliant colors and whimsical accents. All of this and more is also found in the retail side, however, nestled in the back of the store, two sets of doors open into a different world, the real surprise. Welcome to Mary Ann’s Tea Room.

Mary Ann’s Tea Room is reminiscent of an elegant British Victorian dining room, created with the atmosphere of a tranquil, alluring garden. It is absolutely lovely. The cheerful brightness is courtesy of the atrium renovated from the building’s historic greenhouse days. The sunlight accentuates the charming cupboards filled with delicate china. The upholstered high-backed, dark wood chairs perfectly placed at cozy square tables makes the room welcoming and enticing. Imagine sipping tea and sampling the tantalizing fare of a chef who has vowed to make his dishes unlike anyone else’s. How did all this happen? Who could make the rooms fit together so perfectly? Who thought of this? The answer is simple: the very delightful and talented business woman, Karen Halper, CEO and owner, who knows the history of the building, and the people that owned it previously, Karen Halper possessed the passion and understands the true meaning of “labor of love”. The story begins around 90 years ago when the space was built circa 1920. At that time, it was

known as the Joseph Witek Florist, with two floors and large storefront windows on the first floor. Then, after many years, the namesake of the Tea Room, Mary Ann Kovac and her husband owned West End Antiques & Gallery in the space. Following a tragic fire at Mary Ann Kovac’s home, the Kovac family found it necessary to sell the property.

Enter Karen Halper, an entrepreneur, gemologist, and savvy business owner, who was looking to relocate Enchanting Embellishments from its original DesPeres location. Driving by the McPherson property, she knew that it was somehow “meant to be” a destination. She would be able to have her boutique and fulfill her dream of a coexisting tea room, each part having a personality of its own.

Investing over $700,000, taking over a year-and-ahalf in rehab work, and rounding up the “best of best” in staffing, she was able to make her dream of a tea room as well as an “unique boutique” a stunning reality, and opened the store August 29, 2014.

But what inspired the Tea Room?

Karen is British! Her father was born in London and her mother is from Bristol. Tea has always been an intricate part of her life. From her many travels overseas and her heritage, Karen longed to offer the European experience of relaxing, enjoying and lingering over a cup of soothing aromatic tea in the atmosphere of an 1890s

English tea room.

The tea room was simply meant to be. When gathering her professional top team of employees, she found Michael Shreves, her primary designer. When showing him the building and sharing her dream with him, Michael shared that one of his first jobs had been working in that very same building! The story of serendipity continues! When Karen expressed interest in buying the property, the Kovac’s son flew up from Florida to meet with Karen and they found that Karen and his mother had similar visions. Mary Ann Kovac, known for her kind heart, energy and generosity, died in a fire while saving her pets. The most remarkable coincidence was that, according to her son, Mary Ann always wanted to open a tea room. Thus, the perfect name for the perfect tea room.

Pierre Laclede probably didn’t envision his trading post to one day become the home of a 630 foot metal arch. He most likely didn’t envision skyscrapers and some of the most diehard fans in baseball walking the streets. But here we are, after four different centuries, and St. Louis is celebrating its 250th birthday. Although the official founding date is in February, our fair city is made up of talented people, a rich history and a unique culture that make it worthy of so much more than one day of celebration. Read on to learn about some of the many reasons to love the Lou – and see what’s happening in St. Louis as the party continues.

1. PARTY ON

Strange Folk Festival? Check. Jewish Film Festival? Check. Pride Parade? Check. A Mardi Gras pet parade? We have that, too. From the Shakespeare Festival to the Renaissance Fair, St. Louis residents know how to celebrate in style for any occasion or cause.

2. START HERE

Many beloved staples of American life can be traced back to the Gateway to the West. The Radio City Rockettes got their start in St. Louis as the Missouri Rockets before being whisked away to New York. The first St. Louis Bread Company, now nationally loved as Panera by the rest of the world, started in Kirkwood. Ice cream cones, iced tea, Dr. Pepper, 7Up and hot dogs were all invented or popularized at the 1904 World’s Fair. St. Louis was even the first American city to host the Olympic Games.

Take a stroll through Ballpark Village to try all the new restaurants and catch a game, and gear up for 2014’s Downtown Restaurant week, where restaurants develop 3-course meals at $25. Rosalita’s, the Drunken Fish, Cielo, Carmine’s Steak House and Lombardo’s Trattoria were among last year’s 27 participants.

We’re all about family-owned businesses, and it produces the most delicious results. Crown Candy Kitchen (St. Louis’s oldest soda fountain), Gus’s pretzels, Ted Drewes, to name a few, have been passed down through generations and remain as area favorites.

Those four-foot tall birthday cakes you’ve been seeing around town aren’t just for show! Paris is intoxicating and addictive. It is rich and so full of passion, poetry, romance and beauty, that the colors, lights, sounds and smells take my breath away. The love of the all the arts, painting, sculpting, opera, street performing, theater and literature is reflected everywhere. History comes to life in the architecture and no matter what your beliefs; you understand the sacredness of a statue, a church or cemetery. The medieval streets with classic aged old towering buildings are adorned with the brilliant colors of the flowers that envelope the black wrought iron railings. The cafes, the clothing, the traffic and hidden streets tease and taunt me. I will never be able to see it all but I can share and describe to the best of my ability what should not be missed.

From St. Louis most travelers fly into Charles DE Gaulle airport. You will find the transportation in Paris convenient and

easy. The Metro train will take you to almost any area of this vast, giant city and if not, buses and trams are readily available. Paris is one big city with a metropolitan population of over twelve million people; therefore, avoid the Metro train during rush hour! Important to know is that the city is divided in 20 sections called “arrondissements”.

When visiting a new city, taking a city bus tour will help you get acclimated to the lay of the land. You may arrive in the city at night when you should take a ride or stroll to the most welcoming site in this “city of lights” the Eiffel Tower. What can be more romantic than the Eiffel Tower in sparkling diamond-like lights on your first night in Paris? Yet, visiting the area during the day is equally filled with romance as families picnic on the lawn, the young and old folks feeding the birds, walking their dogs and lunching on the benches lining the park.

The heartiest of travelers climb the 704 steps but you can take stairs which go up to the 2nd floor. The view from the top on a clear day is unforgettable.

Another great way to see the city is to take one of the river boats that tour the Seine. Once again, the romantic atmosphere is second to none as you pass Notre Dame, the Louvre, Paris’ oldest bridge (Pont Neuf) and the Musee d’Orsay and the Grad Palais.

Even if you mix up DiVinci with Gucci, a visit to the Louvre will be one of the most memorable experiences in your life.

You don’t need to have read or seen “DiVinci Code” to know the fame of the Mona Lisa. You will be amazed how many people will stand and stare at the painting and wonder about its mystery and popularity. The museum is full of famous and great masterpieces. After walking through the many halls, you will shake your head in awe, asking yourself “What makes one piece of art more popular than the one it stands beside?”

Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to celebrate his victory at Austerlitz (France against the Holy Roman Empire, Russia and Austria), the Arc de Triomphe overlooks the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, one of the grandest boulevards in all of Paris. Simply watching the traffic surrounding the Arc and wondering how to cross the street is fascinating. Between the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde are top restaurants, luxury stores and hotels and neighborhood streets which are fun to walk and experience.

The outside of Notre Dame Cathedral is an intricate and symbolic work complete with 13th-century gargoyles and Judean Kings. The expression of faith in art, stained glass, statuary, wood and stone carvings were beyond anything I had ever seen. Even more compelling is the fact that

Victor Hugo heard about plans to destroy it and wrote The Hunchback of Notre-Dame to raise awareness which spurred the Parisians on to save it. HINT: The cathedral is so immense; one can be separated and lost easily. Were it not for a tall, kind Good Samaritan in our group wearing a nice red shirt, I would be there still.

Starting off as a hunting lodge by King Louis the XII in 1624, the Chateau Versailles eventually grew to be an opulent, immense, grand, gold-filled ornate palace, with priceless art, running water, fantastic gardens and Marie “let them eat cake” Antoinette’s estate. The poor people in Paris justifiably resented this and certainly added fuel to the French Revolution. Amazing.

The Latin Quarter is on the Left Bank and offers affordable restaurants and eclectic food and shops during the day and entertainment at night. Street performers juggling, tap dancing, musicians and mimes are everywhere.

Most haunting is the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, the largest cemetery in Paris city limits. Oscar Wilde, Balzac, Sarah Bernhardt, Bizet, the empty urn of Maria Callas, Chopin, Isadora Duncan, Gertrude Stein, and, yes, Jim Morrison and a host of others are buried here. The crypts are gothic, each one different than the other and more dramatic. HINT: Get a map of the cemetery! You can walk for hours looking for a specific tomb!

I haven’t even mentioned the Palais Garnier Opera House, Tuileries Garden, Place de la Concorde, Moulin Rouge, SacréCoeur, the wine, the cheese, the food, cafes, expresso, desserts, or the fabulous stores and theaters. For more information, see the official tourism website http://en.parisinfo.com.

Whether it be an open house bash, dinner, cocktail or holiday tea party, here are some easy tips to entertain your guests and most importantly enjoy the event yourself.

First and foremost - plan ahead. Send out invitations early so you’ll know how many to expect for the soiree. Write out your menu and prepare food as far in advance as possible. Make items you can freeze. If you don’t cook, hire a caterer asap!

Set the tables ahead. Decide how you’re going to serve – either buffet or sit down, then dress tables accordingly. It’s all about attention to detail. Get out your best linens, china, silver and glassware – use it all! Set out fresh flowers in holiday colors – like red roses in glass vases down the table, along with silver or glass votive cups for impact. Dim the lights, go heavy on candlelight and light the fire.

If a cocktail party, pass trays with easy-to-eat hors d'oeuvres as guests circulate through the house. Serve

buffet-style, with food that can be eaten in one forkful. Try not to use paper plates or plastic utensils. You can wash those dishes tomorrow.

Don’t forget to stock the bar! Drinks help the conversation flow. Home bar essentials include bourbon, vodka, gin, rum, scotch, whiskey and tequila, along with standard mixers like soft drinks, fruit juices, tonic water and club soda. Keep the ice bucket filled. Just for fun, concoct a signature drink like peppermint martinis. Greet your guests with flutes of champagne or sparkling wines. Play a background musical mix, from classic holiday to The Rat Pack Christmas CD collection. If you’re lucky, have someone play piano or guitar.

Company’s coming for a holiday dinner. Confused on which wines to enhance whatever you’re serving? Here are some tips for successful pairings with four popular wines that will assure your guests a flavorful experience.

Three simple rules to wine-and-food pairing are: Drink What You Like - Choose a wine you like to drink by itself. Even if the pairing isn’t perfect, you can still enjoy what you’re drinking.

Look for Balance - Consider the richness of both the food and the wine. Hearty food needs a hearty red wine. Lighter food needs lighter wine. Match the Wine to the Most Prominent Element in the Dish - It’s usually in the sauce, seasonings or cooking method (dark sauce with red wine versus light creamy sauce with a white).

Paul Hayden, Manager of The Wine and Cheese Place in Clayton advised us on four popular wine choices to serve with traditional holiday dinners.

CHARDONNAY

“I recommend La Mere Boitier Macon Chardonnay ($16.99). It’s a white Burgundy, 100% Chardonnay from France. French Chardonnay works much better with holiday meals. California Chardonnay tends to be too oaky and too buttery. You need the more mineral, stone fruit, and citrus components of a Burgundy to balance out the complex and multiple flavors involved in the holiday meal. The La Mère Boitier Macon-Chardonnay is un-oaked, which shows off the pure, elegant, rich fruit flavors that have made Burgundy famous.”

GRENACHE GRIS

“I would choose Grenache Gris over a Pinot Gris. It’s a little bit fuller and earthier than Pinot Gris and can stand up to the big meal better. 2012 Le Cirque Grenache Gris ($13.99) is a

great food wine. It has good acidity showcasing fruit like lemon, lime and pineapple. The pineapple comes off with a honey sweetness that really goes well with ham (or turkey). You can also detect a bit of herbs and pepper on this wine. This really helps it match with the stuffing and other side dishes involved.”

PINOT NOIR

“I recommend this amazing 2013 Alfredo Roca Pinot Noir ($12.99) from Argentina. Argentina makes some spectacular Pinot Noir at much better prices than California, Oregon, or France. All the experts seem to agree that Pinot Noir is the first choice with the holiday meal. It has everything the meal needs. This Pinot Noir has great body and shows a ton of red and black ripe fruits. The richness of this wine stands up to the earthier aspects of the meal like the stuffing, mushrooms and the turkey legs.”

CABERNET

“I recommend 2011 Villa des Anges Cabernet Sauvignon ($9.99). In a Cabernet for the holiday meal, you don’t want anything that’s too big, too oaky, or too tannic. That will over power the meal and will just fight the flavors. The Villa des Anges Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and medium bodied. The darker fruits in this wine will really add a new dimension to the turkey or ham.”

With the holidays quickly approaching, I find myself baking – cakes, cookies, pies, and biscotti. I love biscotti - an English coffee bread/biscuit, twicebaked, originating from the Italian city of Prato. They’re oblong-shaped almond biscuits, made dry and crunchy through cutting the loaf of dough while still hot and fresh from baking in the oven. They’re perfect with coffee, tea or even as a midday snack –so light, and delicious!

You might also recognize these as Kamish Bread or Mandelbrot, the Jewish version of this recipe.

For years I’ve been making Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti, ideal for the holidays with their red and green ingredients. However, I decided to give my recipe an update, making it better than ever!

I had some Blood Orange Olive Oil in my pantry from a local store – DiOlivia’s. If you’ve ever stopped into an Olive Oil and Vinegar store you know they offer a myriad of choices, each one palatable, and unique in their own way. Instead of the typical recipe I bake during the holidays, I elected to use the Blood Orange Olive Oil instead of plain Olive Oil, plus, add the zest of an orange. The finished product was moist and savory, making it “the best biscotti I’ve ever made,” according to my daughter.

If you enjoy biscotti you’ll love these. Make a batch for yourself, and remember to package some up to give as holiday gifts too! Who wouldn’t love these?

• ¼ cup Blood Orange Olive Oil

• ¾ cup sugar

• 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla

• ½ teaspoon almond extract

• 2 large eggs

DIRECTIONS:

• ½ teaspoon salt

• 1 ¾ cups, unbleached flour

• 1 teaspoon baking powder

• ½ cup dried cranberries

• 1 ½ cups pistachio nuts, shelled

• Zest of one Orange

1. Preheat oven to 300F degrees. Spray cookie sheet with non-stick spray and line with parchment paper.

2. Using an electric mixer, blend olive oil and sugar together.

3. Then add vanilla and almond extracts and eggs, beating until the mixture is completely blended.

4. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking powder until thoroughly combined. On low speed, gradually add to the egg mixture. Fold in orange zest, pistachios and dried cranberries.

5. Divide dough in half. On the cookie sheet, form each half into a log about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Space logs about 4 inches apart. (Dough will be sticky so lightly moisten hands in cold water before forming into logs).

6. Bake in center of oven for 35 minutes or until the logs are light brown. Remove from oven and turn heat down to 275F degrees. Let logs cool on baking sheet 10 minutes.

7. With a large metal spatula, remove the logs to cutting board and using a long, sharp knife, cut each log on the diagonal into ¾ -inch slices.

8. Stand slices upright on cookie sheet and return to oven for 8-10 minutes, until they are light brown.

Joy Kroeger Beckner

Bronze sculptor Joy Kroeger Beckner is renowned for her hounds. Joy’s canine sculptures, especially dachshunds, have earned her international fame and over 80 awards.

Raised and educated in St. Louis, Joy attended Washington University School of Fine Arts. She pursued professions in fashion at FamousBarr, and later ran her own fund-raising business, Joy of Youth.

A 1990 sculpture class reawakened her love for modeling clay into the human form.

Joy and her husband Brian live in Chesterfield. The couple’s three dachshunds were her first canine models. Today her work ranges from 1:6 scale palm- sized miniatures to life-size canines, animal design jewelry, and human portraits. Joy said, “I’m always thrilled to evoke memorable experiences, from giggles to tears, in those who view my finished creations.”

Her attention to detail has resulted in membership in many prestigious organizations. These include the Society of Animal Artists, Allied Artists of America and the Salmagundi Art Club of New York. Poplar Bluff's Margaret Harwell Art Museum invited Joy for her first solo exhibition in 2012. For eight years, Joy has been an Elected Sculptor Member of the prestigious National Sculpture Society. Note – Joy is one of only three active Missouri sculptors who have been elected to Fellow of NSS.

Her sculptures are displayed in international and national collections including the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation Inc., and the Dunnegan Gallery of Art in Bolivar, MO. Joy’s work is currently on display and available for purchase at Kodner Gallery in Ladue.

PEACEMAKER IN BENTON PARK

Kevin Nashan, the chef/owner of Sidney Street Cafe, is now the culinary genius behind Benton Park’s Peacemaker Lobster and Crab Company. The casual neighborhood eatery’s name dates back to the 1800’s, when following a night of debauchery, men would offer a hollowed loaf of buttered French bread filled with oysters, lemon juice, and pickles to their wives waiting at home. The sandwich, which was a version of the New Orleans Po’ Boy, became known as the “Peacemaker”. It is a fitting name for a restaurant that offers Acadian inspired cuisine, tying together the flavors of the Northeast and Louisiana. Nashan’s time spent living and cooking in New Orleans, along with his travels to the rocky coasts of Maine served as the foundation for Peacemaker Lobster and Crab Co. The restaurant, which features strategically sourced Americana décor, vintage glass and metal lighting fixtures (many made by locally based McFadden Lighting), and a raw bar complete with a 130-yearold stone oyster trough, strives to offer creative coastal inspired dishes featuring fresh seafood, classic comfort items (think hush puppies, lobster rolls, and fresh-baked pies), and a large selection of handcrafted cocktails, in a laidback and welcoming setting. After hearing many rave reviews, I personally visited Peacemaker. The restaurant is living up to its name, as it would be impossible to feel angry after an exceptional meal coupled with the Peacemaker Lobster and Crab Company’s spirited atmosphere.

Dubbed as the “Fresh Fish Experts”, Bonefish Grill, founded in St. Petersburg, Florida, specializes in market-fresh fish from around the world and wood grilled specialties.
