Abstract The purpose of the article is to evaluate the Teaching English in Poland (TEIP) program in terms of creating an effective learning environment. Among the 12 principles of effective education, there are three important elements of this process: learning through experience, incorporating new knowledge, and arousing positive emotions. Many results of research on learning a foreign language also indicate that certain psychological mechanisms that are associated with building self-awareness and specific identity are conducive to this process. A lot of contemporary research also emphasizes the importance of developing social and emotional competences in learning processes. The TEIP program is an example of putting the results of this research into practice.
