The Martyrdom of St. James the Apostle, Bishop of Jerusalem. 25th July - 18th Abib On this day, St. James the Apostle, Bishop of Jerusalem, who was the son of Alphaeus, was martyred. (Mat. 10:3) The Holy Bible mentioned his brothers, Joses, Simon, and Judas, the sons of Cleophas. (Mat. 13:55) The Greek word “Cleophas” means in the Syriac language “Alphaeus”. His mother, the sister of the Virgin, was also called Mary and was the wife of Cleophas. (John 19:25) When he grew up he was known as James the Just. For there was a drought in Palestine and he prayed to God, Who sent the rain and watered the land, as Josephus, the Jewish historian, testified. He was called James the Less, to identify him from St. James the son of Zebedee, and the brother of St. John the beloved. It was said that the Lord had appointed him bishop of Jerusalem when he appeared to him. “After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.” (I Cor. 15:7) He was called the head of the church in Jerusalem for it was the mother church and from it the Good News had spread to the other churches. He wrote a liturgy, with which the Armenians still pray. During his time and in the year 53 A.D. a Council of the Apostles and priests convened in Jerusalem and St. James presided over it. During this Council St. James said, “Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, “but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood ... “ (Acts 15:19-21) St. James preached and taught the Name of the Lord Christ, brought many back to the faith, and baptized them. God wrought by his hands many signs and wonders. One day, many of the Jews came to him and asked him to tell them about the Lord Christ. They thought that he would tell them that Jesus was his brother. St. James went up to the pulpit, and began to explain to them the Godhead of the Lord Christ, His eternal existence, and His equality with God the Father. When they heard this they were wrath with him, they dragged him down, and beat him severely. One of them beat the apostle on the head with an iron rod, and he delivered up his soul instantly. It was said about this Saint, that he never drank wine, and never wore clothes, but always wore a linen loin-cloth, and that he kneeled so often during his worship and praying that his feet and knees became swollen, and the skin of his knees became like that of the camels. forever. Amen. The Martyrdom of St. Theodore of Shotep. 27th July - 20th Abib On this day, of the year 220 A.D., St. Theodore of Shotep was martyred. His father’s name was John and he was from the city of Shotep in Upper Egypt. He went with his regiment to the city of Antioch, where he married the daughter of a pagan noble man, and begot by her this St. Theodore. When his mother wanted to present him to the house of idols to be educated there, his father refused. She became angry, drove him away, and the child remained with his mother. His father John prayed ceaselessly, and entreated God to guide his son Theodore to the path of salvation. The child grew up, and learned philosophy, wisdom, and literature. The Lord Christ illuminated his heart, and Theodore went to a righteous bishop who baptized him. When his mother heard of this she was sorrowed greatly, but the Saint did not mind her. He joined the army and advanced in the ranks until he became one of the great generals during the reign of Emperor Lucianus. The people of the city of Eukhitos worshipped a great serpent, and offered to him a human sacrifice every year. While St. Theodore was passing through this district, he saw a woman crying bitterly. He asked her about the reason for her crying. She answered him saying, “I am a widow and they have taken my two sons to offer them as a sacrifice to the serpent, although I am Christian.” He said to himself, “They have wronged this woman, but God shall avenge her.” He came down from his horse, and turned his face towards the East and prayed, then drew near the serpent. The people of the city were watching him from the tops of the walls of the city. The serpent was fourteen cubits long, but God gave him power over it, and he speared it with his spear and killed it, and delivered the sons of the widow. After this, Theodore came to Egypt to search for his father, and he stayed with him until he died, and then returned to Antioch. He found that the Emperor had apostatized the faith and started to persecute the Christians. He came before him and confessed the Lord Christ. The Emperor ordered him beaten with rods, burned, and cast into the fire. He delivered up his soul and received the crown of martyrdom. A Christian woman took his body - it was said that she was his mother - after she gave much money to the soldiers and hid his body until the end of the time of persecution. Churches were built in his name in many cities.
أبيب٢٠ - يولية٢٧ م استشهد220 يف مثل هذا اليوم من سنة القديس ثاؤدورس الشطبي كان أبوه يسمي يوحنا من شطب بصعيد مرص قد ذهب ضمن الجنود إىل إنطاكية وهناك تزوج من أبنه أحد األمراء الوثنيني ورزق منها بثاؤدورس هذا وملا أرادت أن تقدم ابنها لبيوت األصنام ليتعلم هناك مانع والده يف وظل الصبي. فغضبت منه وطردته. ذلك أما والده فكان مداوما الصالة. عند أمه وكرب الصبي. ليهديه إىل طريق الخالص وتعلم الحكمة واألدب فأضاء السيد املسيح قلبه وميض إىل أسقف قديس وتعمد منه . وسمعت بذلك أمه فشق عليها كثريا ولكن القديس مل يأبه لها وتدرج يف مراتب حتى صار من كبار القواد يف عهد، الجندية وكان أهل أوخيطوس. ليكينيوس قيرص يعبدون ثعبانا هائال ويقدمون له ضحية واتفق مرور ثاؤدورس يف. برشية كل عام تلك الجهة فرأي أرملة تبيك بكاء مرا فسألها انني أرملة: عن سبب بكائها فقالت له وقد أخذوا ولدي ليقدموهام ضحية للثعبان مع أنني مسيحية فقال ثاؤدورس يف نفسه ثم. أنها أرملة ومظلومة والرب ينتقم لها: نزل عن حصانه وحول وجهه نحو الرشق ثم تقدم إىل الثعبان وأهل املدينة، وصيل ينظرون إليه من فوق األسوار وطعنه وكان. بالرمح فقتله وخلص ولدي األرملة . طول هذا التنني اثني عرش ذراعا وحرض ثاؤدورس بعد ذلك إىل مرص ولبث عند أبيه حتى تويف فعاد إىل إنطاكية فوجد . أن امللك قد كفر وأخذ يضطهد املسيحيني فتقدم إليه واعرتف باملسيح ز فأمر بحرقه وهكذا أسلم الروح ونال. وطرحه يف النار إكليل الشهادة وأخذت جسده امرأة مؤمنة بعد أن بذلت أمواال كثرية- قيل أنها أمهوأخفته عندها حتى انتهي زمن االضطهاد وقد بنيت عيل اسمه كنائس يف جهات . متفرقة آمني. ولربنا املجد دامئا. صالته تكون معنا إستشهاد مارينا الشهيدة يولية٣٠ - أبيب٢٣ يف مثل هذا اليوم تذكار شهادة املختارة الطوباوية القديسة مارينا التي غلبت الشيطان كانت من بنات أكابر إنطاكية وكان والداها يعبدان األصنام فلام ماتت

The Martyrdom of St. Marina, of Antioch. 23rd Abib - 30th July On this day also, is the commemoration of the martyrdom of the blessed St. Marina, who overcame the Devil. She was one of the daughters of the nobles of Antioch. Her parents were pagan. When her mother died, her father sent her to a nanny to raise her, who was a Christian. She taught Marina the Faith of Christ. When Marina reached the age of fifteen years, her father died. One day she heard her nurse talking about the biography of the martyrs and what glory they receive in the Kingdom of Heaven. She longed to become a martyr in the Name of the Lord Christ. One day St. Marina went out of her house with her maiden servants, and on her way she passed by Lopharius Ebrotus, the governor, who admired her much when he saw her. He ordered her brought to him. When the soldiers came to her, she told them that she was Christian. In turn, when they told the governor this, he was distressed for he liked her, and he had her brought to him by force. He offered her the worship of the idols and asked her to forsake God, but she refused. Then he asked her, «What is your name? and from where are you?» She told him, «I am Christian. I believe in the Lord Christ, and my name is Marina.» He tried to persuade her by many promises and promised to marry her, but she did not heed him. When she cursed and insulted him, he ordered her body scraped with iron combs, then rubbed with vinegar, salt and lime, which they did. Nevertheless, she endured with patience. They cast her in prison, thinking that she was about to die. Immediately the angel of the Lord came, and healed all her wounds. While she was standing up praying, and her hands were extended in the form of a cross, a huge and terrifying serpent came forth. When she saw it she was frightened and her whole body trembled. The serpent swallowed her up, and her soul almost departed from her. She made the sign of the cross and prayed while she was in the belly of the serpent. It split open and fell on the ground dead. St. Marina went out unharmed. The next morning, the governor ordered her brought to him. When he saw that she was well, he marvelled much, and told her, «Marina, your sorcery has become evident today, so listen to me. Worship the gods and much good would be for you, and I will give you all that I have
وكانت. أمها أرسلها أبوها إىل مربية لرتبيها هذه املربية مؤمنة باملسيح ففي بعض األيام سمعت مربيتها تذكر سري الشهداء وما ينالونه يف امللكوت األبدي فاشتاقت أن تكون فلام خرجت. شهيدة عيل اسم السيد املسيح القديسة ذات يوم مع جواريها إىل منزلها وجدت يف طريقها لوفاريوس االبروتس الوايل . فلام رآها أعجبته كثريا فأمر بإحضارها إليه، وملا ذهب إليها الجنود أعلمتهم أنها مسيحية وأحرضها، فلام عرفوا الوايل بذلك فزع جدا. قهرا وعرض عليها السجود لألصنام وترك اإلله ما أسمك ومن أين: عندئذ قال لها. فأبت أنا مسيحية مؤمنة بالسيد: أنت ؟ فقالت له فالطفها كثريا فلم. املسيح واسمي مارينا فوعدها بالزواج ووعود أخري، تذعن له كثرية فلم تطعه بل زجرته وأهانته فأمر أن متشط بأمشاط من حديد وأن تدلك بخل . وجري وملح ففعلوا بها ذلك وهي صابرة ثم أودعوها املعتقل عيل اعتبار أنها ماتت فللوقت أتاها مالك الرب وشفاها من سائر جراحها فشفيت حتى كأن مل يكن بها أمل وبعد ذلك خرج عليها ثعبان عظيم. البتة مفزع وهي واقفة تصيل ويداها مبسوطتان مثل عالمة الصلب فابتلعها فكادت روحها تفارق جسدها فصلبت وصلت وهي يف جوفه فانشق نصفني ووقع عيل األرض ومات . وخرجت القديسة مارينا ساملة فلام كان الغد أمر الوايل بإحضارها وملا رآها يا مارينا قد: ساملة تعجب كثريا وقال لها ظهر اليوم سحرك فاسمعي مني واعبدى اآللهة يكون لك بذلك خري كثري وأنا أعطيك فاحتقرته هو وآلهته. جميع ما وعدتك به أنا أعبد الرب يسوع: الصامتة ن وقالت له املسيح ابن الله الحي اله السموات واألرض ومهام أردت أن تصنعه يب فاصنعه فإين ال أسمع منك شيئا فأمر الوايل أن تعلق يف املعرصة وتعرص بشدة ففعلوا بها كذلك ثم وبعد ذلك نزل مالك الرب. أودعوها املعتقل يا:وشفاها ثم ظهر لها الشيطان وقال لها مارينا لو أطعت الوايل كان أصلح لك فانه رجل قايس القلب ويريد أن ميحو اسمك من عيل األرض فعرفت أنه الشيطان ويف الحال أمسكته من شعر رأسه وأخذت عودا من كف: حديد وبدأت ترضبه وهي تقول له عني أيها الشيطان ثم ربطته بعالمة الصليب املجيد أن ال يربح من أمامها حتى يعرفها جميع ما يعمله بالبرش ومن تضييقها عليه

Meditations on the Holy Bible readings 3rd Sunday of the blessed month of Abib Luke 9: 10-27 and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude Luke 9: 16. In this materialistic world which we live in, man account for his or her life in figures and numbers … and because of the strength of man’s attachment to numbers, the invention of computers and electronic calculators became about and man developed these equipment to achieve a high degree of accuracy and speed in calculations … so not even a small fraction is lost … not even 1 in a million … and thus man thought that all his or her problems are solved … mankind will not ever worry about the daily needs or future needs … modern machines accurately calculate all his or her needs for the future according to the best scientific theories, even predicting natural disasters and possible obstacles … Among these complicated networks of electronics and the wilderness of figures and numbers mankind forgot the main prime-mover of all these items … forgot the works of God … mankind became more trusting in his works, intelligence and apparatus than he trusts God’s work … nowadays the daily news from all over the globe informs us of how mankind has failed in solving the world problems … in Africa there are 200 million inhabitants … almost one third of the inhabitants of mid-south the content are starving almost to death … after a draught which lasted for 5 consecutive years … the advertisements of humanitarian organization tells us as little as $160 per month will save a whole family from starvation in Africa … how strange is this world … some $40,000 is the minimum wage in Australia is not enough for a family to survive on whilst 5% of this amount is enough for those poor (Africans) … this materialistic world which is driven by greed is in need of comprehending the lessons of the five loaves of bread and two fishes … how great is our need to understand the blessings of being fed to fullness from God’s hand … how great is our need to escape from satisfaction from the world’s hands … for in reality there is no satisfaction … except from God’s hand even if it is less than little + We have no more than five loaves and two fish It is the cry of being unsatisfied … how often mankind repeats this saying … we don’t have enough … what we have is less than our needs … we are not satisfied yet … we need more … often man will object and declares his lake of satisfaction … many time one will consider what he has as little … even very little … this objections even applies to

The fingers of the world have interfered in the plenty we have and corrupted it to nothing … but to a definite loss. There a story from the church history; one of the patriarchs of Alexandria his name was John (Yohana) the merciful was visited by one of the big traders weeping his losses for all his goods and ships sank (in the sea) … the saintly Patriarch fell sorry for him and gave him 800 gold Dirhams to start his trade again … the man obliged … and he bought new ship and goods … but to his surprise; the ship was about to sink and all the goods had to be thrown overboard to save the ship, then he had to go back to the Patriarch who alerted him that he added more dirhams to the money he received which was earned by ill means and thus the bad money corrupted everything … the Patriarch gave him another 1600 gold dirhams to trade with and the trader bought new goods and loaded the ship but amazingly a strong wind broke and sank the ship … the trader returns again to the Patriarch who was lost for words??? The Patriarch said to him (the trader) because some of the bad money was used to buy this ship … then he gave the trader a new ship with 20,000 measures of wheat … the trader traded with it and made great profits. واشرتى التاجر بضاعة أخرى ووضعها ىف... بها تهب عاصفة قوية كرست... املركب ولكن ياللعجب ويعود لألب البطريرك اليكاد... السفينة وأغرقتها يعرف ماذا يقول ؟؟؟ ويقول له األب البطريرك انه وأعطاه... بسبب املركب التى أشرتاها باملال الحرام هذه املرة مركبا خاصا محمال بعرشين الف أردب ... ويتاجر بها الرجل ويربح ارباحا كثرية جدا... قمح هل فهمت رس خسارة... هل رأيت أيها الحبيب ألن العامل يضع يده فيه... الكثري الذى عندك ما.. ما أعظم بركة القليل الذى يعمل فيه الله.. يعطى الله.. أكرث الربكة ىف بيت يدخل فيه الله لتجد.. روح الرضا والقناعة ىف سكان هذا البيت الرجل يفرح بأقل القليل من زوجته وتجد الزوجة ألن كلمة واحدة... تفرح بأقل القليل من زوجها أبتسا... من الزوج تكفى لتمأل قلب زوجته سالما مة واحدة من الزوجة تكفى لرتبح قلب ا لزوج ملسة حب وحنان لألطفال تجعل البيت ميتأل.. قارن هذا بالرجل الذي ال... بسعادة وفرح وسالم يكف عن الشكوى من زوجته والزوجة التى ال متل يقضون سامعات وأياما... من الشكوى من زوجها بيت.. ورمبا شهورا ىف مناقشات وعتاب ومشاكل ... ليس فيه بركة ألن أصبع الله ال تعمل فيه ثم كرس.. باركهم.. رفع نظره نحو السامء+ .. وأعطى.. الشخص الذى يحب ان يعد االموال ويحىص أما الشخص.. دامئا ينظر اىل أسفل... املمتلكات كانت مشكلة.. الذى يطلب الربكة فينظر اىل فوق الغنى الغبى أنه يحسب رفاهيته وسعادته مبقدار ... اتساع مخازنه وثروته ولكنه نىس خالص نفسه نىس ان يدخل الله ىف حياته ولذلك هلك وضاع ومل ... ينفعه غناه وثروته لقد كان ابراهيم أب اآلباء غنيا جدا لدرجة أن األرض مل تكن تحتمل أمالكه وأمالك لوط ابن أخيه ولكنه كانت عيناه اىل فوق وليست اىل أسفل.. معا فضل أن يعيش غريبا كل ايام حياته واثقا ىف... مواعيد الله له رغم انه مل يرى هذه املواعيد تتحقق ... بل تحققت بعد نياحته بسنني طويلة.. ىف حياته هناك قصه تحىك عن انسان بخيل محبا لالموال اسمه ترويلس ذهب مرة يصاحب االب البطريرك وأخذه االب البطريرك اىل ملجا... ىف أحدى جوالته لأليتام والفقراء وصار يحدثه عن بركة االحسان ولكن الرجل البخيل كان ال.. ومساعدة الفقراء يطيق أن يتخىل عن أمواله وأخريا أخرح قطعة من ولكنه وجد امامه... ذهب وأعطاها ألحد الفقراء صفا طويال من الفقراء أضطر أن يعطى كل واحد وعندما عاد اىل منزله وعد.. منهم قطعة م ذهب ما وزعه من ذهب وجد أنه مبلغا كبريا حزن جدا وسمع االب البطريرك مبا... واصابته حمى شديدة أصابه فأرسع اليه ومعه رصة من االموال وقدمها

سؤال هام نيافة األنبا بنيامين أسقف المنوفية الكرازة 15يوليه 8 - 2022أبيب 1738ش كيف وصل القديسون إلى الدرجات الروحية العالية ،مثل السيدة العذراء ونقاوتها العجيبة حتى صارت والدة اإلله الدائمة البتولية؟ وكيف نما القديسون في الحياة الروحية ووصلوا إلى قامات عالية جدًا ،مثل السواح القديسون وممارساتهم النسكية ومثل األنبا بيشوي الذي استحق أن يحمل السيد المسيح و ُ س ّمي «الرجل الكامل حبيب مخلصنا الصالح»؟ تاريخ كنيستنا مليء باألمثلة العجيبة في جهادها الروحي الذي يعكس إيمانهم القوي وحياتهم النقية .حقًا إنها الحياة الداخلية مع ح هللا (إنسان القلب الخفي) ،إنه كنز القلب الخفي في الداخل« ...اَ ِإل ْن َ سانُ الصَّالِ ُح ِمنَ ْال َك ْن ِ ز الصَّالِ ِ ر ُ ت» (مت (مت12 ،)35 ::12 ج الصَّالِ َحا ِ ،)35وقد رأينا في مثل العذارى الحكيمات والجاهالت فِي ْالقَ ْلب ي ُْخ ِ تعبير «زيت اآلنية» الذي منه زيت المصباح المؤقت الذي ينفذ ،لكن زيت اآلنية ال ينفذ ألنه يشير إلى عمل الروح القدس معنا في العبادة الروحية ،أي زيت النعمة المختزن باألعمال الصالحة والعبادة الروحية من آنية القلب الداخلي ،لذلك نهتم بالداخل جدًا؛ ولقد وبّخ السيد المسيح الكتبة والفريسين ً قائاًل «نقّوا أوالً داخل الكأس والصحفة لكي يصير خارجهما نقيًا» ،ومن المفروض أن نهتم بالتوبة الحقيقية من القلب «إذ بالبكاء يأتون وبالتضرعات ينمون» ،وال شك أن الفضيلة هي ثمرة عمل داخلي من هللا ونسميه ملكوت هللا الداخلي «هوذا ملكوت هللا داخلكم»، ْر َوالتَّ َحلِّي بِ َّ زينَتُ ُك َّن ِّ ر ال َّ ب وأوصى الكتاب المقدس َ ار ِجيَّةَِ ،م ْن َ الذهَ ِ «والَ تَ ُك ْن ِ الزينَةَ ْالخَ ِ ض ْف ِ شع ِ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْس الثِّيَا ِ ب ،بَلْ إِ ْن َ سانَ ْالقَ ْل ِ ئ ،الَّ ِذي ه َُو قُ َّدا َم ب الخَ فِ َّ ي فِي ال َع ِدي َم ِة الفَ َ َولِب ِ يع ْالهَا ِد ِ سا ِدِ ، زينَةَ الرُّ ِ وح ال َو ِد ِ َّ ي ر ال ث م ن ُ » ( 1 1بط بط3:3 3:3 4 )، ،)4 وهذه هي هللاِ َكثِ سمات اإلنسان الروحي الذي أخذناه في المعمودية. َ ِ حقًا إن الحياة الفاضلة ليست مجرد مظاهر ولكنها حياة ،ففضيلة المحبة ليست مجرد مشاعر ولكنها عمل محبة يعطي حياة ،فحين أحبنا المسيح ُ صلب ألجل فدائنا ..واالتضاع ليس مجرد مظهر ،ولكنه إحساس عميق في القلب بعدم االستحقاق ألي كرامة ،لذلك يهرب من أي تمجيد أو مديح أو تكريم ،ويحب األعمال الحقيرة لخدمة اآلخرين ألجل هللا مع تَقَبُّل األتعاب والضيقات واآلالم في الخدمة والعبادة بدون تذمر ..ولذلك اإلنسان الفاضل الذي يحيا بالمبادئ الروحية يُخفي الفضيلة لكي ال يسرقها الشيطان ،ولكي يحصل على المجد السماوي مع المسيح إلى األبد حسب وعد هللا «ألَنَّهُ َك َما فِي آ َد َم يَ ُم ُ ْ ْ اح ٍد يح َ سيُحْ يَا ْال َج ِميعَُ .ول ِك َّن ُك َّل َو ِ وت ال َج ِميعُ ،ه َك َذا فِي ال َم ِس ِ فِي ُر ْتبَتِ ِه» (1 1كو كو15 ،)23--22 ::15 ،)23وتعلمنا الكنيسة عمليًا في الحياة السرائرية أن النعمة غير المنظورة نأخذها من خالل عمل أو مادة منظورة مثل الماء في المعمودية والزيت في الميرون ومسحة المرضى وهكذا ...وكل ذلك يرتكز على محبة المسيح في القلب .وقد عرفنا أن خيمة االجتماع كانت قدي ًما من الخارج مصنوعة من شعر الماعز وجلود تخس وكباش ،ولكن من الداخل مملوءة بالجواهر الثمينة والآللئ الغالية مثل الذهب والفضة واألسمانجوني واألرجوان ال فَنَ ْنظُ َر إِلَ ْي ِهَ ،والَ والقرمز ،بل هذا ما قيل عن السيد المسيح :من الخارج «الَ ص َ ُورةَ لَهُ َوالَ َج َم َ َم ْنظَ َر فَنَ ْ اس( »..إش (إش53 ،)3-2 ::53 ،)3بينما في حادثة التجلي ظهر مجده شتَ ِهيَهُُ .محْ تَقَ ٌر َو َم ْخ ُذو ٌل ِمنَ النَّ ِ َ ُ «وتَ َغي ََّر ْ ضا َء َوجْ هُهُ َكال َّ ار ْ ور» ت هَ ْيئَتُهُ ق َّدا َمه ُْمَ ،وأ َ الحقيقي الداخلي َ سَ ،و َ ص َ ت ثِيَابُهُ بَي َ ش ْم ِ ْضا َء َكالنُّ ِ (مت (مت17 ،)2 ::17 ،)2 وهكذا كل القديسين أخفوا حياتهم مثل العذراء قيل عنها كمثال «كل مجد ابنة الملك من داخل» لذلك أوصانا الكتاب «ناظرين ليس إلى ما يُرى بل إلى ما ال يُرى»...

Many, having trusted in their own reason, have turned away into deception. The word of God is a tree of life that offers us blessed fruit from each of its branches. It is like that rock which was struck open in the wilderness, from which all were offered spiritual drink. Be glad then that you are overwhelmed, and do not be saddened because he has overcome you. A thirsty person is happy when drinking, and not depressed, because the spring is inexhaustible. You can satisfy your thirst without exhausting the spring; then when you thirst again, you can drink from it once more. If you are an ardent reader, seek not brilliant and erudite texts; otherwise the demon of haughtiness will strike your heart. But like a wise bee that gathers honey from flowers, so also through your reading obtain healing for your soul. The fear of God illumines the soul, annihilates evil, weakens the passions, drives darkness from the soul and makes it pure. The fear of God is the summit of wisdom. Where it is not you will find nothing good. Whoever does not have the fear of God is open to diabolical falls. O Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of sloth, meddling, lust of power, and idle talk. But give rather the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love to Thy servant. Yea, O Lord and King, grant me to see my own sins and not to judge my brother; for Thou art blessed unto ages of ages. Amen. Who is far from love is a bad state, and to be pitied. He passes his days in a delirious dream, far from God, deprived of light, and he lives in darkness ... Whoever does not have the love of Christ is an enemy of Christ. He walks in darkness and is easily lead into any sin. You victorious martyrs who endured torments gladly for the sake of God and Savior, you who have boldness of speech toward the Lord Himself, you saints, intercede for us who are timid and sinful men, full of sloth, that the grace of Christ may come upon us, and enlighten the hearts of all of us so that we may love Him.

The Martyrdom of St. Pantaleemon, the Physician. 26th July - 19th Abib This day also marks the martyrdom of the honorable St. Pantaleemon, the Physician. This saint was born in the city of Ta’madan. His father, whose name was Astochius (Asturius), was pagan, and his mother, whose name was Unala (Ulana), was Christian. They taught him the medical profession. A priest lived near their house, and every time Pantaleemon passed by him, and the priest saw his stature, his comeliness, his knowledge, and his wisdom, he was sorrowful for him for he was away from God. The priest entreated God in his prayers, to guide Pantaleemon to the way of salvation. Having repeated his petition to God for Pantaleemon’s sake, the Lord told him in a vision that he would believe through him. The priest rejoiced, and started to speak to him whenever he passed before him, until a friendship grew between them. The priest started to explain to him the corruptness of idol worshipping and the nobility of the Faith of the Lord Christ and the noble life of its followers. He also told him about those who believe in Christ, and the signs and wonders wrought by their hands. When Pantaleemon, the Physician, heard that, he rejoiced and desired to perform these signs to perfect his medical profession. One day, he was passing through the market-place of the city, and he saw a man, whom a serpent had bitten, lying on the ground and the serpent was standing up before him. He said to himself, “I will put to test the words of my teacher, the priest, who told me, ‘If you believe in the Lord Christ, you shall work miracles in His Name.’” He drew near that man, and prayed a long prayer, asking the Lord Christ to manifest His Power in healing that man, and in killing that serpent, so that it might not harm anyone else. When he finished his prayer, the man rose up alive, and the serpent fell down dead. Pantaleemon’s faith increased; he went to the priest, who baptized him, and he went on practicing medicine. One day a blind man came to Pantaleemon that he might heal him, but his father sent him away. The Saint asked him, “ Who was asking for me?” His father replied, “It was a blind man, and you can not heal him.” The Saint told him, “You shall see the glory of God.” He called the blind man back, and asked him, “If you can see will you believe in the God Who shall heal your eyes?” The man said, “Yes, I will believe.” The Saint prayed over him a long and a profound prayer, and then he laid his hand upon the eyes of the blind man, and said, “In the Name of the Lord Christ receive your sight.” Straightway, he received his sight and believed in the Lord Christ. When his father saw that, he also believed. The saint brought them to the priest who baptized them. When his father departed, the Saint set his slaves free and gave all his money to the poor. He treated the sick freely, and asked them to believe in Christ. The other physicians were jealous of him, and they laid accusation against him, the priest and many others who had believed, before the Emperor. He brought them and threatened to torture them if they did not deny the Lord Christ. When they did not yield to his threats, he tortured them severely then cut off their heads. The Emperor exaggerated in torturing St. Pantaleemon, he cast him to the lions which did not harm him, and the Lord strengthened and healed him. Finally, the Emperor ordered to cut off his head and he received the crown of martyrdom. May his prayers be with us. Amen.
استشهاد القديس بطالن الطبيب ومن معه أبيب19 - يولية26 ويف مثل هذا اليوم استشهد القديس ولد يف بلدة. الجليل مار بطالن الطبيب تعميدون من أب وثني اسمه أسطوخيوس فعلامه مهنة. وأم مسيحية تدعي أونالة الطب وكان بالقرب من منزلهم قس فكان كلام عرب بطالن أمامه يتأمل اعتدال قوامه وكامل عقله وكرثة علمه ويتحرس عليه لبعده عن الله وكان يطلب من الله يف صالته أن يهديه ويرشده إىل طريق وملا اكرث الطلبة والسؤال إىل. الخالص أعلمه الرب يف رؤيا أنه، الله من أجله ففرح بذلك وصار. سيؤمن عيل يديه يحادثه كلام اجتاز به إىل أن متكنت عري فعرفه القس فساد عبادة. املودة بينهام األصنام وبني له رشف ديانة السيد املسيح وأن الذين يؤمنون، وأفضلية حياة تابعيها باملسيح تجري عيل أيديهم آيات وعجائب فلام سمع بطالن الطبيب فرح واشتهي أن يعمله ليكمل له قصده يف الطب ففي أحد األيام لدغت حية إنسانا وظلت قامئة فقال يف نفسه « أجرب تعليم. تحته القس معلمي الذي قاله يل « أن آمنت « بالسيد املسيح تصنع آيات وعجائب ثم أقرتب من ذلك اإلنسان وصيل صالة طويلة طالبا من السيد املسيح أن يظهر قوته يف إبرائه ويف قتل الحية لئال تؤذي وعند فراغه من صالته قام الرجل. آخرين فازداد إميانا. وسقطت الحية ميتة، ساملا وميض إىل القس وتعمد عيل يده وظل وحدث أن جاءه رجل. ميارس مهنة الطب أعمي ليداويه فطرده أبوه فسأله القديس أنه: من هذا الذي طلبني ؟ « فأجابه: فدعاه. اعمي ليس لك يف شفائه حيلة القديس وسأله هل إذا أبرصت تؤمن نعم: باإلله الذي ابرأ عينيك ؟ فقال له ثم وضع. فصيل القديس صالة عميقة. باسم: يده عيل عيني األعمى وقال له وآمن, فأبرص للوقت. املسيح أبرص فلام رأي أبوه ذلك آمن. بالسيد املسيح فأحرضهام القديس إىل القس. هو أيضا . فعمدهام وملا تنيح أبوه حرر عبيده ووزع كل ماله عيل املساكني وصار يداوي املريض بدون أجر ويطلب منهم اإلميان باملسيح فحسده األطباء وسعوا به وبالقس، وبجامعة كثرية كانوا قد آمنوا لدي امللك فاستحرضهم وهددهم بالتعذيب ان. وإذ مل يكرتثوا. مل يكفروا بالسيد املسيح بتهديده عذبهم كثريا ثم قطع رؤوسهم أما القديس فقد بالغ يف تعذيبه بأن ألقاه لألسود فلم تؤذه وكان الرب يقويه ثم آمر أخريا بقطع رأسه فنال. ويشفيه آمني. صالته تكون معنا. إكليل الشهادة
تى الْ ُم ْن َت َهى (يو)1 :13 ح َّب ُه ْم َ أَ َ ح ّ مثلث الرحامت البابا شنوده الثالث عندما يقول خاصته الذين يف العامل ألنه له خاصة يف السامء وليس يف العامل فقط مثل املالئكة وأرواح األبرار. أحب خاصته الذين يف العامل تنطبق عىل العهدين القديم والجديد. ،)1الكل خليقته وصنعة يديه لكن مع ذلك له ،)1 ::24 (مز24 الساكِ ِن َني ِفي َها» (مز حقًا الله له «األَ ْر ُض َو ِملْ ُؤ َها .الْ َم ْسكُونَةَُ ،وك ُُّل َّ خاصة معينة .الخاصة هذه الناس الذين عاشوا من أجله يف العهد القديم مثل إبراهيم أب اآلباء ،يعقوب الذي قيل عنه الكتاب أحب الله يعقوب ،موىس النبي ،واألسباط االثني عرش. كثري من األنبياء كانوا خاصة ربنا. أحب خاصته الذين يف العامل ،مبعنى أن الله عندما أحرق سادوم قال :هل أحرق سادوم وأخفي عن عبدي إبراهيم ما أنا ،)17وأخذ يشاور عبده إبراهيم .هذه هي عالقة ربنا بخاصته. ،)17 ::18 (تك18 فاعله (تك وأيضً ا عندما بنو إرسائيل عبدوا العجل الذهبي وأراد الله أن يفنيهم ،كلم موىس أو ًاًل وقال له «أتركني ليحمي غضبي .)10هل يستطيع عبدك موىس يا رب أن يدخل يف إرادتك؟ ولكن الرب مل يرد أن يفنيهم إال إذا .)10 ::32 (خر32 عليهم فأفنيهم» (خر .).)14 14 ::32 (خر32 كان موىس موافقًا ،وموىس مل يكن موافقًا« ،فندم الرب عىل الرش الذي قال إنه يفعله بشعبه» (خر ما أعجب محبتك لخاصتك يارب!! أحب خاصته الذين يف العامل ،أحبهم حتى املنتهى ،وصلت إىل أنه بذل ذاته عنهم .ولكن أيضً ا هناك محبة وهم يف ،)18فهو أحبهم حتى يو،)18 ::33 العامل ،مثلام قال الكتاب «يا أوالدي ال نحب بالكالم وال بللسان بل بالعمل والحق» (11يو املنتهى بالعمل والحق. رسول ،ولكن مل خاصته يف العهد القديم معروفة مثل الشخصيات الكبرية ،ويف العهد الجديد كانت خاصته االثنا عرش رسول، يكونوا وحدهم بل بعد ذلك كان السبعني رسو ًاًل ،بعد ذلك شخصيات معينة ،بال شك من ضمن خاصته لعازر الذي أحبه وبىك يف مكان موته. وال شك أنه من ضمن خاصته السيدة العذراء مريم والدته. ومن ضمن خاصته بعض شخصيات من النساء الاليت كن يتبعنه وينفقن عليه من أموالهن (لو.).)88 .).)43 43 ::23 (لو23 بل صار من خاصته أيضً ا اللص اليمني عىل الصليب وقال له «اليوم تكون معي يف الفردوس» (لو .)2وبعد .)2 ::13 (خر13 أيضً ا األبكار يف العهد القديم كانوا من خاصة ربنا .فقال« :ق ِّدس يل كل بكر ،كل فاتح رحم ،إنه يل» (خر ذلك استبدل األبكار بالالويني والكهنة .هؤالء هم خاصته. أيضا من خاصته. ومسحاء الرب ً حتى االثني عرش الذين أحبهم كان هناك ثالثة منهم له موضع خاص بالذات ،وهم يوحنا ويعقوب وبطرس ،وله جلسات خاصة معهم ،ويف معجزة التجيل أخذ الثالثة بالذات ،هؤالء من ضمن خاصته الذي أحبهم حتى املنتهى. فيام بعد شاول الطرسويس أصبح من خاصته ،وظهر له الرب ودعاه وجعله رسواًلً لألمم .ثم ظهر له مرة أخرى وقال له أذهب بعي ًدا لألمم ،ومرة ثالثة قال له أذهب إىل أورشليم ،وكان هناك رؤى كثرية بينه وبني الله. أحب خاصته الذين يف العامل حتى املنتهى. أحب خاصته هؤالء الذين تركوا كل يشء وتبعوه .تركوا األب واألم واألخوات والبيت وذهبوا وراءه .يف العهد القديم إبراهيم ذهب وراءه وهو ال يعلم إىل أين يذهب .ويف العهد الجديد الرسل تركوا الشباك والصيد ،ومتّى ترك مكان الجباية ،تركوا كل يشء وتبعوه .آمنوا به وصحبوه وقالوا له يف إحدى املرات« :إىل من نذهب وكالم الحياة األبدية هو .).)68 عندك» (يو68 ::88 رسالته ...هنا قصة خرافية يُقال إن ربنا عندما صعد إىل السامء قابلته خاصته هؤالء سمعوا لتعاليمه وحملوا رسالته... املالئكة فقالوا له :يا رب هل نرشت اإلميان يف العامل كله؟ فقال :ال .فقالوا له :هل نرشت اإلميان يف اليهودية يف أورشليم كلها؟ قال :ال .قالوا :ماذا فعلت؟ قال لهم أعددت 12وهم الذين سوف ينرشون اإلميان يف العامل كله .ألن هؤالء الذين امتألوا من كل نعمة وكل بركة وكل قوة من السيد الرب وعهد إليهم بكنيسته ،لىك يبنوا ملكوت الله عىل األرض .هؤالء .).)29 خاصته هم الذين كرزوا باسمه ،وتأملوا من أجله ،وملا حوكموا قالوا« :ينبغي أن يُطاع الله أكرث من الناس» (أع29 ::55 أناسا لهم روحانية خاصة وكانوا أقوياء يف الروح. هؤالء كانوا ً إىل جوارهم اختار السبعني رسو ًاًل. يل الرشوط التي كانت عىل التالميذ ولو يف حدود وليت كل واحد منا يسأل نفسه هل أنا من خاصة ربنا؟ هل تنطبق ع ّ إمكانيايت ،أم هل أنا من خاصة العامل ،أم متمركز عىل نفيس بعي ًدا عن الله؟
)17ك ّرر عبارة «هؤالء الذين أعطيتني» اعتربهم أنهم عطية (يو)17 أحب خاصته الذين يف العامل ،ولذلك يف مناجاته لآلب يف (يو خاصة. يا ليتنا ينطبق علينا عبارة خاصته. أحبهم حتى املنتهى وهو ذاته هو املحبة ،فالله محبة. إن كان السيد املسيح قد أحب أعداءه وصىل من أجلهم وقت الصليب وقال «يا أبتاه اغفر لهم ألنهم ال يدرون ماذا .)34فكم باألكرث يحب خاصته تلك املحبة! .)34 ::23 (لو23 يفعلون» (لو .).)16 16 ::15 (يو15 أحبهم فأول يشء أختارهم وقال «لهم لستم أنت اخرتمتوين بل أنا اخرتتكم» (يو عماًل كام عملت بهم أيضً ا نسأل أنفسنا هل نحن يا رب من مختاريك؟ هل اخرتتنا كام اخرتتهم؟ وهل تريد أن تعمل بنا ً عماًل؟ ً ماضيهم ،وجعلهم صيادي الناس ،وسامهم أصدقاءه ،وسامهم وكالء له ،ود ّربهم يف بعثة اختارهم عىل الرغم من ماضيهم، .)10أرسلهم وأعطاهم سلطانًا عىل جميع الشياطني وأعطاهم بعض النصائح وقال لهم «ال (مت.)10 للخدمة أو ًاًل ،كام ورد يف (مت .).)88 ::10 (مت10 ،)11و«مجانًا أخذتم مجانًا أعطوا» (مت ،)11 ::10 (مت10 نحاسا يف مناطقكم» (مت تحملوا ذه ًبا وال فضة وال ً ::10 (لو10 والسبعون الذين أرسلهم د ّربهم عىل الخدمة أيضً ا ،فعندما فرحوا وقالوا «حتى الشياطني تخضع لنا باسمك» (لو ،)17فقال لهم «ال تفرحوا بهذا إن األرواح تخضع لكم ،بل أفرحوا بالحرى أن أسامءكم كتبت يف ملكوت الساموات» ،)17 .).)20 20 ::10 (لو10 (لو ::14 (مت14 د ّربهم عىل الخدمة يف معجزة الخمس خبزات والسمكتني .علمهم أن يعطوا الناس «فأعطوهم أنتم ليأكلوا» (مت .)40وعلمهم محبة اآلخرين .)16وعلمهم النظام فقال «أتكئوهم صفوفًا صفوفًا ،مئة مئة وخمسني خمسني» (مر.)40 ::66 .)16 ود ّربهم أيضً ا حتى عىل محبة األطفال وقال لهم «من أعرث أحد هؤالء الصغار خري له أن يُعلَّق يف عنقه حجر الرحى .).)33 ::18 (مت18 ،)6وقال لهم «إن مل ترجعوا وتصريوا مثل األطفال فلم تدخلوا امللكوت» (مت ،)6 ::18 (مت18 ويُلقى يف البحر» (مت علمهم أشياء كثرية ،علمهم العطاء ،وعلمهم التواضع والوداعة ،علمهم أن ال يستخدموا القوة ،فقال لبطرس «رد سيفك .).)52 52 ::26 (مت26 إىل غمده ،من أخذ بالسيف بالسيف يؤخذ» (مت علمهم أشياء كثرية وكرس الحواجز التي بينهم وبينه .وعاش معهم يف بساطة يأكل معهم ويرشب معهم ،وقال عنه يوحنا .).)1:1 يو1:1 الحبيب «الذي شاهدناه وملسته أيدينا» (11يو عاش معهم كصديق أعطاهم فرصة أن يسمعوا جميع تعاليمهن وأعطاهم فرصة أن يروا كل معجزاته وهو يجول يصنع خ ًريا ،ويشفي كل مرض وكل ضعف يف الشعب. أعطاهم نفسه كمثال وبخاصة حينام غسل أرجلهم وقال لهم «تركت لكم مثااًلً حتى كام صنعت أنا بكم فاصنعوا بعضكم مع بعض». .)12وقال «ال يستطيع أحد أن يخطف .)12 ::17 (يو17 وقال لآلب عنهم «هؤالء الذين أعطيتني حفظتهم ومل يهلك منهم أحد» (يو .).)29 29 ::10 (يو10 من يدي وال من يد أيب أحد» (يو وهؤالء الذين أحبهم أعطاهم سلطانًا عىل جميع الشياطني ،وأعطاهم مواهب ،ومنحهم الروح القدس ليسكن فيهم إىل األبد ،وليك يعلمهم كل الحق أحبهم حتى املنتهى. ومنحهم الكهنوت ومنحهم أن يقيموا رس اإلفخارستيا. ومنحهم مواهب الروح القدس .بل من أعظم الكلامت التي قيلت عن أحبهم حتى املنتهى أنه قال لآلب «املجد الذي )22طب ًعا يف حدود .وقال «أريد أن هؤالء الذين أعطيتني يكونون معي ،حيث أكون أنا )22 ::17 (يو17 أعطيتني قد أعطيتهم» (يو .)24وقال «أنا ٍ ماض وأعد لكم مكانًا ،وإن مضيت وأعددت لكم مكانًا آيت وأخذكم إ ّيل حتى حيثام .)24 ::17 (يو17 يكونون هم» (يو .).)22 ::14 (يو14 أكون أنا تكونون أنتم أيضً ا» (يو ليس فقط عىل األرض ولكن يف السامء أيضً ا .قال لهم يكون لكم 12كرس ًيا تجلسون عليه وتدينون أسباط إرسائيل االثني عرش. املنتهى ،عزاهم يف تعبهم وأزال عنهم شكوكهم حينام أتتهم شكوك .وحىك لهم جميع الرموز كان معهم يحبهم حتى املنتهى، .24وقىض معهم بعد القيامة أربعني يو ًما يحدثهم عن أرسار التي وردت عنه يف موىس واألنبياء كام ورد يف إنجيل لوقا .24 ملكوت الله ،ووعدهم بوعود كثرية من فرط محبته لهم. عنهم ،هذه هي املحبة العظيمة التي أحب بها خاصته ،وكل واحد يكون من خاصة الرب سيتمتع بهذه وكان يدافع عنهم، املحبة حسب مقدار النعمة التي تُعطى له ،وأيضً ا النعمة التي أعطيت لهم كانت نوع من أنواع املحبة حتى أن بولس .).)10 10 ::15 كو15 الرسول قال «ال أنا بل نعمة الله التي معي» (11كو
