Hello, enjoy

Who am I?

A young individual looking to grow within the design world, keen to demonstrate the ambition and passion for design along with skills learnt at London South Bank university. Ready to take on new opportunities and challenges with an open mindset for development, learning and engaging with new and challenging tasks while meeting designers.

Design Experience

Inclusive Design: Design experience with inclusive aspects regarding disabilities within projects. Ability to use anthropometric data and empathy tools to design and create products which work for a wide target market.

Concept Visualisation and analysis: Produced various types of models to at all stages of design in order to analyse and evaluate key design decisions. This allowed for me to conduct testing regarding; usage ability, structural strength and component movement.

Team Design:

Team work within challenge projects which had strict limitations and boundaries resulting in heavy research and a lot of concepts for designs, mixing different group member attributes to solve challenges.

Sustainable Design:

Produced a total redesign for the packaging of one of the most popular items in IKEA. Turning its material use from 100% plastic to 100% paper-based card keeping in mind its information content, product protection and brand identity. Produced a final full scale model.

Computer mouse

Designed, modeled and produceed a computer mouse for a major company which doesn’t yet have a electronic product range (theoritical breif). Createed sketches of ideas and incorporated the firms DNA within the final models. Produced a CAD model in order to show the internal workings along with the shell, keeping in mind the manufacturing process used within industry. Maked sure that the whole design shares the firms DNA and characteristic design style.

Physical modelling

Using newplast clay, the shape and size was experimented with in order to see the best ergonomic design while keeping realistic structural shapes.

Design DNA

The top section has been influenced by physical modelling the most in order to sit in the hand comfortably. Its slope has been taken from the cars in order to represent the firms design style. The component colours have been influenced by the companies colour offers

The main electronic component which includes the scroll wheel has been reversed engineered from a standard piece used in nearly all mouses within industry.

The bottom section contains structures to hold the circuit board in its designated space, along with supports to hold the scroll wheel. The back split line has been raised to imitate the design style of Lamborghini cars.

Injection molding ready

The whole design has been created to be fit for injection moulding. Internals of both top and bottom parts are contain bosses and ribs with 2 degree draft angles for structural integrity.

Environmental impact

The redesign of the packaging has been made with Ikea’s main development goal in mind: sustainability. The redesigned packaging would save a large amount of plastic usage and waste.

Old packaging:

1 Bag = 10 grams of Polyethylene

1 Reorder in Ikea =2000 units

1 Reorder in Ikea =20kg of polyethylene

1 Reorder in all Ikea stores = 8.92 tonnes

8.92tonnes = 8x of polyethylene SAVED!

The Dexty Grip, is a piece of fitness equipment that is an addition to the users training environment. It is aimed at users who have difficulty with their natural ability to perform the gripping motion.

It allows for the user to participate in gym exercises to greater ability, providing safety, comfort and progression aspects. It works by allowing the user to alter the top surface of the product tot their custom needs bthroug the use of heat and water.

Modular lamp design

Unique design for a wall lamp with a strong focus on interchangeable lamp shade element. The LumLun lamp allows for the lamp shade to be easily detached and swapped over for one with a different one with a different print on it. This is made possible through the use of magnets which link the shade to the lamp base.

The ideation behind this design is that people change the decor of their household and lamp shades are very rarely changeable. This leaves the consumer to either buy a whole new lamp or have a piece of room decor which doesn’t fit the style. LumLun solves this.

Lamp Shade

Part of the main feature of the design is the lamp shade, which has chosen pattern printed onto the ABS plastic along with 4 magnet holes to attach to the base of the lamp.

Magnets

The key solution to making the lamp shades interchangeable are small magnets. Four on the lamp shade and four in the base sides. These allow for a strong hold of the shade but also allow for swapping depending on users wants.

Light

A battery powered light which is activated via a pushing action down onto its top face. It is located in the centre so it is easy to access.

Base

The base is manufactured out of soft woodCedar. It holds four magnets for the attachment principle and an indent for the light to sit in. Two wall hanging features are at the back but it can be hang on the wall in place with smart wall strips.

Shade ideas:

ROX Fold-able workout bench

A store away bench designed for the most crucial workouts and muscle building exercises to be done easily within smaller rooms and spaces. Its folding frame allows for a reduction in size when not in use, but also folds out to a full bench when needed. Its additional components such as the dip grips and adjustable angle bar allow for the user to carry out more exercises to reach their peak performance. With performance comes durability and safety which the structure fully takes into account with 98% of its structure being fully metal and structural supports are added to the base of the legs, which themselves are extendible to maximise stability.

The main drive behind this design is for people to become and remain physically active in their small homes or areas of less space. With storage being a key determining factor of deciding whether to buy a bench or not, the ROX bench design solves this issue as much as possible while also keeping high quality.

Dip grips and arms

Two rods covered in rubber to provide support and grip for dips. Mounted on two arms which have different height settings with the help of the pin system.

Pin system

Easy use solution to allow for quick bench adjustments with out the need for tools. A steel pin to slot into designated holes within the bench to move and adjust components.

Two level system

Two adjustable levels for the main rod to sit in. Allows for more diverse training. As its a major component it is fastened with butterfly bolts in order to make it more secure.

Extendible legs

Extendible legs in order to provide more stability during exercises. Moved with the help of the pin system and equipped with rubber legs to stop the bench from slipping.

Possible exercises on ROX bench

The dimensions of the bench have been set so that the quality and safety is at a high level whilst at the same time preserving the functionality and making sure that it is fold-able into a storable size.

The standard position that most new users will use. This position has the middle setting for arm length and a flat (90 degree) bench angle. The bench rests on the collapsible leg which is pulled down.

A low incline angle that may be used to get better results on some exercises. good for people who are not used to doing ‘incline’ exercises. The bench is at a 18 degree angle with the lowest arm height and bench seat resting on the stump.

High incline setting [30 Degrees] to maximise incline exercises. With the highest arm setting the legs are needed to be extended for the highest safety and stability. The bench rests on the second height level to achieve the gradient.
