Network To End Hunger
UNITED FOR ONE MISSION: END HUNGER To Our Allies in the Fight Against Hunger, The Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger collaborates by bringing communities together in solving this issue. Over the past year, TBNEH members and staff have developed and implemented projects that have made significant progress in fighting food insecurity in the Bay Area. In the Tampa Bay area, over 700,000 people struggle to put food on the table. More than 150,000 children receive free and reduced meals in the public school system in our tri-county area alone during the school year. But nearly 85% of those kids don’t know where, or if, they’ll find their next meal during the summer. Our Summer Breakspot Expansion team has directly targeted the problem of childhood summer hunger, and our Alternate Breakfast Expansion team focuses on the issue of kids showing up to school hungry and without time to get breakfast from the cafeteria. Our Garden2Go Team brings backyard vegetable gardens to seniors and low-income housing across the region, and the Waste No Food App Team focuses on recovering excess food from restaurants and stores to be distributed to local pantries. The Hunger Gap Map, which allows an in-depth analysis of food insecurity in our area, shows the areas of need and meal providers by zip code so that our partners can determine where the meal-gap is highest. These are just a few of the ways we are not just discussing, but implementing, solutions in the fight against hunger. TBNEH’s mission is to bring people together to find solutions that eliminate barriers, increase access and knowledge, and expand the amount of nutritious food available. In partnering with the Alliance to End Hunger in our 2017 National Sunshine Summit to End Hunger, we are carrying out our vision of collaborating, networking, and sharing real-world, tested tools based on the latest research to bring healthy food to those who need it most. We hope you will join us in this mission. We look forward to seeing you at the Amalie Arena November 6 and 7. Sincerely,
Caitlyn Peacock Executive Director Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger

Network To End Hunger
Dear Friends, In 2011, the Alliance to End Hunger hosted the first summit our newly-formed Hunger Free Communities Network. The event brought together coalitions dedicated to ending hunger in their communities from all over the country and provided an opportunity to network with prominent national food security and advocacy organizations, and share strategies and best practices to end hunger on at both the local and national level. Over the years, the Hunger Free Communities Network has continued to evolve, and HFC partnerships have grown and strengthened. This year, we are thrilled to partner with the Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger to co-host the 2017 National Sunshine Summit to End Hunger in Tampa Bay. This event builds on the Alliance to End Hunger’s mission of engaging diverse institutions to develop the will to end hunger everywhere. It also provides us an opportunity to extend invitations to additional organizations and individuals to contribute to the critical work of the coalitions ending hunger across the country. I hope you will take a few minutes to explore the many ways you can get involved in this year’s summit. The support you provide will go a long way in helping our own HFC Network to gather and share the resources it needs to help local communities identify and respond to local hunger challenges. On behalf of the Alliance to End Hunger, Hunger Free Communities Network, and hunger-fighters across America, I sincerely appreciate your consideration. Many Thanks,
Rebecca Middleton Executive Director Alliance to End Hunger
THE TAMPA BAY NETWORK TO END HUNGER The Tampa Bay Network to End Hunger (TBNEH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with over 300 members who come together to tackle hunger in our tri-county service area – Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas. Members include academics, scientists, government agencies, churches, farms, meal providers, food banks and pantries, health care agencies, and more. By working together rather than separately, there is a greater impact on the communities that we serve.

Network To End Hunger
The mission is to end hunger by bringing people together to find solutions that eliminate barriers, increase access, and expand the amount of nutritious food available to the food insecure population. TBNEH fosters collaboration among members by holding monthly meetings, having an annual conference, and ensuring that members have the most up-to-date information and resources, including the Hunger Map which shows food supply and demand in the Network’s tri-county area. As a collective, the Network identifies and implements solutions to hunger. Some of their work team projects include DIY Garden2Go boxes, ideal for growing vegetables and herbs in small spaces; healthy corner stores that provide access to nutritious foods in low-income communities; and an app that connects restaurants with local 501(c)(3) charities who distribute any excess foods to their clients; partnering with Food Banks to collect and recycle unusable food; and ensuring kids who rely on school meals during the school year also have meals during the summer. Membership is open to all.

THE ALLIANCE TO END HUNGER The Alliance to End Hunger engages diverse institutions in building the public and political will to end hunger at home and abroad. As a coalition of over 90 members—corporations, non-profits, faith-based organizations, universities, foundations, international organizations, and individuals— we work to develop innovative partnerships among our members; political commitment among U.S. government leaders; and connections among groups working to end hunger domestically and internationally. The Alliance to End Hunger’s Hunger Free Communities Network™ initiative supports locallybased, multi-sector coalitions that are committed to ending hunger in their communities. We formed these initiatives around the belief that to end hunger at the local level a broad range of community stakeholders must unite behind a common vision and strategy. Working with diverse local stakeholders, we support their work to better understand hunger in their communities, underserved populations, gaps among programs, and untapped resources. We invest in this network of coalitions by providing multiple platforms that foster communication between the coalitions, the sharing of best practices and lessons learned. By building bridges between elected leaders and local nonprofits, faith groups, and businesses, the Alliance to End Hunger is developing a foundation of public will to make a lasting impact in the lives of hungry people.
