THE PUB A COMMUNITY BUILT Marked as one of the most interesting community projects within the UK, The Pilcrow is not your typical pub; inside a pre-fabricated shell designed especially for the location of Sadler’s Yard, everything will be built by hand, by the community, led by local craftspeople. Workshops to create the unique interior started in January 2016 and since then volunteers have had a hand in everything from turning beer pump handles and designing their own bar tiles, to harvesting willow from Reddish Country Vale Park and weaving it into hanging baskets. Even the Sadler’s Yard Christmas tree – has been repurposed into a workbench to extend current operations. Everyone involved in The Pilcrow has had an influence in the final design – and there’s still an opportunity to get involved. FIND OUT MORE > FOLLOW ON TWITTER>

ARMITAGE CONSTRUCTION Armitage Construction turned back time by welcoming the great and good to their new premises and throwing a party celebrating Manchester’s colourful past. The former electricity substation and two terraced houses on Jersey street have been lovingly restored by the team, specialists in the preservation of heritage buildings. With barrow boys and girls, Northern Soul cocktails and Martin the Mod providing the soundtrack for the evening, the opening celebrated the eclectic culture of Manchester through the decades. At the heart of Ancoats ‘Little Italy’, the two houses were formerly owned by the Boggiano family, famous for their mouth-watering ice cream creations. LAGOS SLAVERY MUSEUM Whilst Pokemon Go’s augmented reality feature fills the news, our Account Manager Heidi spotted an innovative use for AR in the Lagos Slave Market Museum in Portugal. The newly refurbished museum arms visitors with an iPad and invites them to experience the story of the slave trade. AR helps them to find extra nuggets of engaging information, hidden within the museum exhibits. From audio of traditional tribal songs, to 3D visualisations of artefacts, AR adds another dimension to the exhibition. FIND OUT MORE ABOUT LAGOS MUSEUM>
