Patient Care Assistant – 315 Hours

Start your career as a Patient Care Assistant Through the use of Live Instruction and Hybrid Training, you will receive comprehensive knowledge of patient care skills that will prepare you to handle multiple duties and responsibilities in a hospital/specialty health care environment.

Our Patient Care Assistant (PCA) program is broken up into individual components courses. Students must complete all courses to receive their FSCJ Certificates of Completion for the program. Upon completion of the Nurse Aid course students can sit for the Florida Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification.

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) – 16 Hours

PHTLS is the global gold standard in prehospital trauma education and is taught in 64 countries. PHTLS is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital providers. PHTLS is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT. Requires additional registration (no cost) on the NAEMT Website. NAEMT Website details provided after FSCJ enrollment.

Provider Course: 16-hour course for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians and other prehospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion, a wallet card recognizing them as PHTLS providers for four years, and 16 hours of CAPCE credit.

Phlebotomy Technician – 118 Hours

The FSCJ Phlebotomy Technician program is designed to train individuals interested in the latest information, procedures, skills, standards and equipment for safe, effective blood collection.

Our program includes both theory and handson instruction. You will learn medical concepts of Phlebotomy including Infection Control, Legal Issues in Healthcare, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Phlebotomy Equipment & Supplies, Phlebotomy Procedures, and Phlebotomy Fundamental Essentials.

RN Refresher – 176 Hours

Spanish for Medical Professionals –24 Hours E2G

With increasing numbers of Spanish-speaking patients entering the health care system every year, it's more crucial than ever for health professionals to learn medical Spanish. What's more, adding Spanish skills to your resume can broaden your career horizons.

Starting with the basics of Spanish pronunciation, you'll will learn simple words for everyday topics including colors, numbers, conversational phrases, family names, words for asking questions. Next you'll get to the meat of the course as you discover how to ask about pain, symptoms, medical histories, insurance, and patients' feelings. You'll also learn how to talk about body parts, diets, and medical care and treatment.

Handling Medical Emergencies – 24 Hours E2G

Every second counts during a medical emergency. Recognizing the early signs and symptoms of common medical conditions and providing appropriate treatment can mean a better outcome for the patient. Early recognition and intervention can greatly reduce the seriousness of the illness, which means a shorter hospital stay and lower medical costs. It's also very satisfying to know how to help someone in a time of need.

This course will identify common medical emergencies affecting children and adults, help you recognize signs and symptoms, and teach you how to render appropriate emergency care. For adults, you will learn how to recognize and manage chest pain, heart attack, stroke, diabetic problems, seizures, breathing difficulty, burns, and allergic reactions. For children, you will also learn about poisoning, fever, childhood illnesses, injuries from accidents, and the signs of abuse.

Certified Professional Life Coach – 40 Hours E2G

Our Certified Professional Life Coach course focuses on life coaching techniques and business practices. You will learn proven methods established by the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches (IAPRC) to serve a variety of clients. Upon earning your life coaching certification, you will hold the industry-preferred credential needed to launch your career.

CPC Certified Medical Administrative Assistant with Medical Billing and Coding – 500 Hours E2G

The CPC Certified Medical Administrative Assistant with Medical Billing and Coding is geared toward students who are interested in obtaining a career in the health care industry, but have little to no experience within the sector.

This comprehensive program will provide a foundation of medical vocabulary to help you better understand doctors’ notes and medical record contents. It will also teach you essential medical office management skills that health care managers look for when hiring new front office staff.

Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam offered by National Healthcareer Association (NHA). The registration fees for both exams are included with this program.

This program will also prepare you to sit for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) exam and the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam.

Medical Interpreter (Spanish/English) – 200 Hours E2G

The Medical Interpreter training program prepares you to work in hospitals, medical offices and in any healthcare environment where a Spanish interpreter is needed. In addition, the Medical Interpreter training program prepares you to sit in any of the Medical Interpreting examinations available in the country. This program is language specific – Spanish/English.

You will acquire the three interpreting skills – simultaneous, consecutive and sight translation. You will learn the proper transfer of medical terminology into Spanish, divided into the different areas in a hospital and medical specialties. Intensive online interpreting laboratory practices are included in this training program.

The material presented in each lecture is immediately practiced in your online laboratory to make sure that you are able not only to memorize the transfer of a word or phrase, but also are able to interpret as it is required in the health care setting.

This program is entirely online and is completed at your own pace. When you register, you have nine months to complete this program.

Medical Assisting

Our Medical Assisting Career Certificate (C.C.) will prepare you to do everything as a medical assistant from maintaining medical records, filing insurance claims and billing to taking medical histories, vital signs and assisting with exams.

You’ll gain practical experience for a medical assisting job in local hospitals, doctor’s offices and clinics. In addition, you qualify to take the Registered Medical Assistant examination to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).

Clinical experiences in the medical assisting program will be provided in physicians' offices, ambulatory care centers, clinics and hospital outpatient clinics. Clinical rotations are scheduled in various clinical settings and are a required part of the medical assistant program of study to assist students to obtain hands-on experience in the medical field while learning in the student role.

Practical Nursing

What does it take to be a health care provider? Among other things, it takes compassion, patience, knowledge and skills. FSCJ offers comprehensive training on campus by medical professionals with hands-on clinical experience in a variety of hospitals and medical centers throughout the area.

From hospitals and physicians’ offices to nursing homes and home care, the Practical Nursing Career Certificate (C.C.) will provide you with many career options. You’ll learn basic nursing and clinical skills as well as medical terminology, computer literacy and medication administration. In addition, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure examination to become a licensed practical nurse.

The Pharmacy Technician Career Certificate (C.C.) program focuses on planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues.

Cosmetology

The mission of the Cosmetology Career Certificate (C.C.) program is to provide excellent and meaningful education to all cosmetology students. The Cosmetology program has cosmetology instructors who believe in a team approach that is flexible and understanding of the individual needs which enables each student to reach their full potential and the achievement of success. A theoretical and practical hands-on approach is given to all aspects of cosmetology including, but not limited to, hair design, chemical relaxing, permanent waving, hair coloring, skin care and nail care. This will not only prepare the cosmetology student for the state licensure examination but will also prepare them for successful entry into the workforce.

Cosmetology students provide client services as part of the program curriculum. All services are completed by the students under the supervision of an instructor who is also a licensed cosmetologist.

Florida Motorcycle Basic RiderCourse (BRC) – 16 Hours

SCPro™ Fundamentals Academy offers you a comprehensive program to operate at the highest level of effectiveness. The program offers eight training certification tracks that can be taken individually or in combination with other tracks to increase expertise. The Automotive Collision Technology

Technician Career Certificate

(C.C.) program provides the comprehensive training necessary to restore automobiles to like-new condition. From classroom to hands-on instruction, students learn the latest auto repair and refinishing techniques as well as the use of precision equipment and tools.

Using standards established by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), such topics from estimating and detailing to automotive painting and body repair are introduced. Upon completion, students will be fully prepared for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification exams.

Commercial Vehicle Driving –

The Commercial Vehicle Driving (CVD) Career Certificate (C.C.) program consists of four 80-hour courses totaling 320 hours. The first two-week course introduces students to the commercial driving industry. Students receive an overview to prepare for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FDHSMV) written examination required to obtain a Class A CMV Driver’s Permit. Subjects include combination vehicle operation and inspection, air brake component identification and an introduction to the various regulations governing commercial vehicle driving. Upon successful completion of the FDHSMV test, students are eligible to receive their Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

The Diesel Systems (C.C.) program prepares you for employment or specialized training as a service technician. The program is a total of 1,800 contact hours which can be completed in as few as 15 months. IT Desktop Support Career Certification

FSCJ’s IT Desktop Support Career Certification Track provides students with the basic training and certification preparation to begin a career in IT. These courses prepare students with the knowledge and skills to sit for the CompTIA A+ Certification Exams and the ITIL Foundations 4 certification exam. When combined (and certifications obtained), students have a foundation to begin working in North Florida’s robust IT industry. Property Adjuster Estimating

This Property Adjuster Estimating Career Certificate (C.C.) program develops occupation-specific skills, including problem solving and relevant technical knowledge and software instruction to prepare students for careers as claims adjusters, examiners and investigators. OSHA 30HR Safety Card

This 30-hour General Industry course is intended to provide a variety of training to people with some safety responsibility. Training will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, value of safety and health, lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding, ergonomics, fall protection, and safety and health programs. This training is required for workers whose jobs put them in contact with hazardous substances. Our HAZWOPER training covers everything required in 29 CFR 1910.120, such as hazardous chemicals, improving the safety of workers, and how OSHA regulations affect you. NCCER Introductory Craft Skills – 75 Hours Respirable Crystalline Silica Safety Awareness Course 360T

This course covers the basics of safety, rigging, communication, and employability skills. It also introduces both hand and power tools, construction math and construction drawing. Completing this course provides the student with the basic skills needed to continue their education in any and all craft areas. This course is the prerequisite to all other NCCER Level 1 craft courses. Successful completion of this course requires passing the NCCER CORE Exam with a 70% or higher.

Downtown Campus, 1/11/22 – 2/22/22 Respirable crystalline silica dust is a very small particle of hazardous dust from drilling, crushing, cutting, or grinding rocks and has been linked to several medical conditions, even death to workers exposed to the deadly dust.

OSHA estimates 2.3 million American workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica within their job site or manufacturing plant, where over 80% of the workers that are exposed to silica dust are in the construction industry. Exposure to respirable crystalline silica is a health concern for exposed workers.

The module also describes how employers must provide fall protection for employees. Employers must identify and evaluate fall hazards and train their workers. Under the OSHA standard, employers can choose fall protection measures that are compatible with the work being done.

OSHA puts its rules for fall protection in several different subparts in the construction standards, depending mainly on the nature of the work. The rules cover most construction workers. They do not cover those inspecting, investigating, or assessing workplace conditions before the actual start of work or after all work has been completed.

Basic Safety Orientation 360T

This mobile compatible course teaches the basics of workplace safety. Employees may be exposed to many safety and health hazards while on the job. These include chemical hazards, fire hazards, electrical hazards, confined space hazards, etc. This course aims to present an overview of some basic workplace hazards and how employees can protect themselves from them.

NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace 360T

NFPA 70E covers standards for electrical safety in the workplace. Throughout this course, you will review the relationship between the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and NFPA 70E. You will also review general NFPA 70E standards and the importance of these standards in maintaining your safety and the safety of others in the workplace.

Confined Space Entry Training 360T

OSHA now has a confined space rule that is exclusive to Construction. Employees working in confined spaces can be exposed to potentially life-threatening hazards including toxic substances, electrocutions, explosions and asphyxiation. This interactive course is new to help the construction industry stay compliant with the new rule.

Chainsaw Safety Training 360T

This course is an OSHA-compliant training online class and is I-CAB recognized. It covers basic chainsaw safety as it relates to tree trimming, disaster clean-up, forestry and more. This course satisfies OSHA's requirements for the classroom portion of operator safety training. Quiz questions along the way prepare you for the final written exam. Upon completion, gain access to and print off your test, certificate, and a checklist which can be used by your employer to observe you in the field applying what you learned in the classroom.

OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach 360T

OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Outreach The 10-hour General Industry Outreach Training Program is intended to provide an entry level general industry worker's broad awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a general industry site. Students will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as general industry safety and health principles and work practices covered in OSHA Act Part 1910. Special emphasis will be placed on areas most hazardous using OSHA standards as a guide. General industry workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on specific hazards of the job.

Students are automatically upgraded to a plastic DOL wallet card. These plastic cards are strong, durable, and will not tear. Plus, they are easier to carry, harder to lose, and fit into any wallet like a credit card or driver’s license. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be shipped their course completion card within two weeks.

Heating, Ventilation, AirConditioning/Refrigeration

Expert hands-on training in all aspects of air conditioning, heating and refrigeration ensures students gain the skills needed to success. Included within the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration program are two other career certificates: Heating, Ventilation, AirConditioning/Refrigeration I and Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration II that you can earn while completing the HVAC program or pursue separately to upgrade skills in a particular area.

Beginning in the classroom learning the current theories of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and electrical systems, students then have hands-on training in piping and brazing techniques, set up, adjustment and troubleshooting.

Electricity

In the Electricity Career Certificate (C.C.) program, experienced faculty teach students the concepts of AC and DC, how to read blueprints, the use of hand and power tools, electrical wiring and maintenance and National Electric Code requirements. Through hands-on experience in the lab, students will develop good work habits that will help them gain skills required to become a journeyman or master electrician.

Among the topics covered are: DC/AC theories; proper selection and use of power and hand tools used in the trade; use of blueprints; National Electrical Code (NEC) in-depth study; wiring techniques; electrical maintenance procedures. Approximately 60–70 percent of training experience will be through hands-on activities with emphasis placed on safety in the lab and on the project site. Upon successful completion of the Electricity C.C., graduates will be qualified to enter the electrical industry as an electrical helper.

Welding Technology

The Welding Technology Career Certificate (C.C.) program prepares students for careers in many areas including shipbuilding, paper mills, power plants, aerospace, automobile manufacturing and construction. Expert hands-on training provides the necessary skills for a successful career, and for thousands less than the for-profit tech schools.

Welding professionals offer one-on-one training in all types of welding processes including SMAW (stick) plate and pipe, GMAW (mig) steel and aluminum, FCAW (flux cored) and GTAW (tig) plate and pipe on steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Instruction consists of academic as well as laboratory and hands-on training to meet industry standards and for practical certificate examination preparation. Upon successful completion, students will be qualified for a position as an entry-level welding technician.
