Pathway to Success The choices that you make now are an important stepping stone to your future success. This includes the choices you are making about setting aside time to study for your GCSE qualifications. The grades you achieve at GCSE will determine the pathway you are able to access in the Sixth Form. There is an extensive range of subjects to choose from which fall broadly into 3 pathways: A Level Qualifications – this is the traditional route into university. To gain access to this pathway you will need at least a B grade average (grade 6 average) in both English and Maths.

L3 Applied Qualifications – these qualifications are the equivalent to A Levels and will provide a route through to university or onto an apprenticeship. One in four people at university have gained their place through an applied qualification. The entrance requirements for this pathway are 5 A*-C (5 grades 9-5) qualifications at GCSE. L2 Foundation Pathway – this pathway is for students who are working towards 5 A*-C qualifications at GCSE and need an extra year to build their confidence and a portfolio of qualifications.

Student Leadership Team Leadership is a very important quality and we encourage our Sixth Form students to engage as leaders in a variety of areas. Our Student Leadership Team is one of the highest profile positions offered to our Y12 and 13 students. As the very visual leaders of our student body, the Student Leadership Team is responsible for student voice, representing the school at both formal and informal events and providing role models for younger students. Being part of the Student Leadership Team gives our Sixth Form students real life experience of leading teams, communicating to a wide range of people and working on student lead projects. The nomination and election process begins in June of each year with posts announced in September.

Sixth Form Dress Code As student leaders of the school, our Sixth Form students are role models for the younger students and symbolise our Sixth Form to the outside community. Our students should dress and act as the successful young people they are. Appropriate dress will also prepare our sixth from students for the world of work. The Sixth Form Dress Code is smart. Smart includes neat and tidy button up collared shirts, trousers and appropriate length skirts. Suits, ties and business attire are optional. It does not include jeans, trainers, or track suits (unless in a PE lesson).
