It is a privilege to be at Cuddington. Excellent teaching means that my child knows exactly what they need to do to keep improving. Parent

Learning environment and The Jubilee Centre Our school has 9 well-equipped classrooms with access to a fantastic outdoor space. At the back of the school we benefit from and enjoy the large green playing fields, surrounded by trees, and areas for environmental learning. This enhances our children’s experience at Cuddington, facilitating additional opportunities to explore, be creative, and participate in a range of sporting activities. Our children are also fortunate to benefit from a heated, open-air swimming pool and an orienteering course. Our large school hall is well-used for school assemblies, productions, the teaching of PE and wide-ranging extra-curricular activities. There is a fully equipped kitchen for cookery lessons, and our well-resourced Learning Hub, including both a library and well equipped computer suite. At Cuddington we enjoy the use of a separate dining room in which children participate in their meal times together. Whether eating a delicious healthy hot school lunch or a well-prepared packed lunch from home, we encourage children to develop social skills at meal times and to understand the benefit of a healthy well-balanced diet.

The Jubilee Centre is the specialist provision for children with additional communication and interaction needs. This centre has an allocated suite of rooms to enable this provision to best meet the needs of the pupils who access it. Children from the Jubilee Centre benefit from the specialist teaching spaces provided and from integration into the mainstream environment of the school. Access to the wider school environment is carefully planned to meet the needs of each individual child. Cuddington Community Primary School is proud to be an inclusive school and strives to build on high standards and sustained commitment recognised externally through the award of ‘Flagship Status’ as a result of scrutiny and partnership with the ‘Inclusion Quality Mark’. We are proud to have received this accolade; Cuddington is one of only around 100 schools in the country and is the first and only primary school in Surrey to achieve this award.

The School Curriculum At Cuddington Community Primary School we have, and continue to develop, a curriculum that is broad, balanced, inspiring and challenging. Whilst having the National Curriculum at the core, we seek to create a school curriculum that is relevant locally, and nationally, and meets the needs of Cuddington pupils, helping them to make sense of the world now, but also preparing them for the future.

English Our English curriculum enables pupils to listen, understand, speak and write fluently so that they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others effectively. Our phonics programme, using ‘Letters and Sounds’ (but the visual images and rhymes of ‘Read Write Inc’), ensures a systematic approach to the teaching of reading and spelling. A love of books and reading is at the heart of life at Cuddington, pupils therefore develop excellent skills in English and enjoy accessing a world beyond their everyday experience. Mathematics We aim to develop a positive attitude to the subject and encourage pupils to see the relevance of mathematics in their daily lives. A careful progression in mathematical skills is developed through the skilful use of ‘Maths No Problem,’ based on the Singapore Maths approach. Science

We promote the skills and attitudes required for learning by rewarding achievement through the ‘Cuddington Learning Gems’:

Science lessons are rich, active and enquiry-based. Pupils have the opportunity to ask scientific questions; develop understanding of scientific methods and processes; develop scientific knowledge, and understand the implications of science, today and for the future.

Enhanced Learning and Community School Trips A broad range of trips, workshops and experiences are offered to pupils at Cuddington Community Primary School. These experiences are carefully planned and often linked to the curriculum, deepening pupils understanding and experience of what they are learning. Whether pupils are visiting museums, galleries, historical sites, places of worship, or places of local interest, children benefit from a range of experiences inspiring their own personal interest and extending their learning.

My child is being challenged in their lessons and talks about what they have learnt at home‌. I need to brush up on my own knowledge. Parent

In addition, pupils have the opportunity to participate in a residential trip in their final years at Cuddington. We believe that this is a great way to develop independence, deepen relationships and create lifelong memories. Performances Children will have the opportunity to perform in a range of contexts as appropriate to their age and stage of development. This promotes confidence and allows the children to gain experience of drama and the Performing Arts. Performances include class assemblies, choir concerts, Christmas performances and the annual year 5/6 production.

The Howard Partnership Trust

The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) grew out of a long-standing federation, the first in Surrey, originally formed in 2007 at the request of the Department of Education and Surrey Local Authority. The success of this federation between Howard of Effingham, an Ofsted Outstanding school, and Thomas Knyvett College resulted in the formation of THPT when the partnership’s first primary school, Kenyngton Manor, joined in 2013. The Multi Academy Trust (MAT) now comprises a diverse range of primary and secondary schools across Surrey. All our schools uphold a shared vision in which there is a commitment to ‘bringing out the best’ in young people of all abilities and aptitudes, so increasing their life-chances. Those working in partnership with THPT are justly proud of the strength of collaboration and inclusion present in each of our schools. We believe that by embedding a culture built around our ethos of partnership, inclusion, excellence and energy, our vision can succeed. The inclusive ethos of the MAT is enhanced by a number of Special Centres attached to mainstream settings. Schools within THPT remain local schools and retain their own unique features to serve their local communities. However, they are all underpinned with the same guiding principles: namely to ensure that a first rate education is provided through consistently high quality teaching which facilitates excellent learning within an inclusive, caring, vibrant environment. THPT schools provide a student-centred, broad curriculum with a personalised approach where the individual student lies at the heart of everything we do.
