The boarding

community Students will join QE as part of a small, close knit, international community. We ensure all boarders achieve their potential and live in a way which encourages wellbeing and happiness. Personal development and independence is encouraged through peer support and family groups. Boarders have an opportunity to express their opinions through boarding family council, house meetings and question time. Our boarding staff are all trained care staff, this means that they can give all their attention to our boarders’ needs and well-being.

The boarding houses St Martin’s is the hub of boarding and is home to the girls. It is a large house at the top of the college site. The majority of the rooms are en-suite and the building houses the main dining room and office. The Mount is home to the boys and is an Edwardian building which has many period features. It is set within its own large gardens and overlooks the town of Crediton. Mountside is a semi-independent house set in the grounds of The Mount. It is designed to give our Sixth Form students a taste of independence.

Academic attainment We welcome all students. Many students join us for their GCSEs and enter into our Sixth Form, where they make outstanding progress. Staff promote academic learning to enable all boarders to reach their full potential. Boarders are supported through structured study time, with dedicated teachers who ensure that students are on track. Each student will be assigned to a keyworker who will support them in their studies and personal development.

Leisure and pleasure Our popular schedule of events usually features adventurous activities such as Go-Karting, Quad Biking and Paintballing, alongside countryside walks and Pony Trekking. Many boarders are actively involved with Crediton’s local clubs and sports teams. There are excursions to towns and cities for shopping and sightseeing including nearby Exeter, with its cultural heritage and of course trips to the local beaches for surfing, volleyball or coasteering. This programme is developed in consultation with our boarders.
