POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLAR FELLOWSHIP About the Fellowship The fellowship is designed to support early career scholars who have an interest in child welfare research and policy. The recipient of this fellowship will have extensive opportunities to network with child welfare policymakers, Department of Children and Families’ leadership, and statewide faculty and research affiliates. The recipient will be supervised by the Program Director of Research at the Institute and mentored by Dr. Shamra Boel-Studt, Associate Professor at the Florida State University College of Social Work. The primary responsibilities for the 22-23 academic year will be supporting an evaluation of the Institute’s Advanced Certifications (AdCerts) for the child welfare workforce, led by Dr. Boel-Studt. AdCerts are part of the ALIGN initiative at the Institute’s GROW Center. You can learn more about these initiatives here. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with or leading ongoing quantitative and qualitative research, writing and reviewing reports, and translating research findings into policy recommendations for state legislators. Fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with leaders at state and community-based agencies as well as the Institute’s faculty and research affiliates around the state. Fellows will be encouraged to write for publication and to present at state, national, and international conferences. The Fellow will: • •

The Fellowship will be in place September 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023, with the possibility of annual renewal each July 1st, depending on performance and available funding, with

a maximum total tenure of four years. An earlier start date will be considered based on the successful candidate’s availability.

Eligibility Applicant must have received a PhD from an accredited graduate program in social work or a related field within the past 5 years of the appointment start date. If the applicant is a current student, a confirmation of eligibility must be submitted. Exceptions can be made on an individual basis when justifiable and accompanied by supporting documents with prior approval from the Florida State University Office of Postdoctoral Affairs.

How to Apply The Florida Institute for Child Welfare accepts applications between May 1 and June 30 for a 10-month Post-Doctoral Scholar Fellowship. The Fellowship will be in place September 1, 2022-June 30, 2023, with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and available funding, with a maximum total tenure of four years.
