ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS Glenn Ganter, MSW (2018)
Clinical Social Work Concentration FSU’s MSW Clinical Social Work Concentration gave me the confidence and competence to pursue a clinical position in Vancouver, Canada right after graduation. I currently work with individuals, couples, and families, often with the goal of family preservation and reunification. FSU’s MSW program gave me ample opportunities for leadership through their InterProfessional Fellows program. The many funding opportunities such as graduate assistantships, scholarships, and funding for international internships helped make my current route possible. Above all else, the genuine care, passion, and open-door policy that the administration and professors in the program offer is what helped me attain confidence, funding, an international internship, and my current position. Someone once said that, “The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book” and I believe this rings true for the FSU MSW program. The clinically focused courses that I took really prepared me for my work and gave me a great foundation for continued growth.
Sarah Goldman, MSW, (2015) Social Leadership Concentration
As a student in the MSW Social Leadership program, my professors taught me the skills I needed to analyze policy, create tangible grassroots community change, and advocate for social justice issues. Studying in Tallahassee gave me prime opportunities to engage government leaders, executive agencies, and participate in legislative sessions at our state capitol. Knowing that I wanted to have a career in legislative advocacy, I could not have found a better program or location to equip and prepare me!
