Jessica Bagneris is a fourth-year doctoral candidate at Florida State University (FSU) College of Social Work. She earned her Master of Social Work degree at Tulane University with a certification in Child and Family Practice, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child and Family Studies from Baylor University.

Jessica values interdisciplinary research and conducts research within the Center for Population Sciences and Health Equity and the Center for Technology Intervention and Assessment in Schools at FSU, as well as the Interaction and Media Sciences Lab at the University of Las Vegas. Overall, her research focuses on understanding, intervening upon, and improving on biopsychosocial outcomes of underserved communities of color and low socioeconomic status, among whom are at higher risk for experiencing trauma. Longterm, she plans to develop, implement, and disseminate interventions to build resiliency among these communities.

For her dissertation, she has developed and implemented the first intervention within an intervention series aimed at improving preservice teachers’ efficacy in sociocultural social emotional learning. This component of the intervention series focuses on increasing preservice teachers’ understanding regarding the influence and importance of sociocultural context and social emotional learning within educational environments.
