Captain Sean Daugherty lives his life on the water. He is the owner of Mellow Mangrove Charters based in Homosassa, Florida. Mellow Mangrove offers an array of services like chartered scalloping trips, offshore snorkeling trips, manatee tours, paddleboard and kayak rentals and sunset cruises. “We do a little bit of everything, we try and cater to the customer,” says Capt. Sean. Sean started his company in 2015, after working at a manatee tour company for a few years he decided to head out on his own.

Scalloping is one of Mellow Mangrove’s main focuses. “It’s like an underwater Easter Egg Hunt,” says Sean. For Citrus County scalloping season runs from July 1st to September 24th and is one of the main attractions during this time in Florida’s Nature Coast. Sean has customers from all walks of like, from native Floridians to out-of-towners. Even some motocross riders show up, “We usually have one or two families a week that race dirt bikes.” Even top riders like Ken Roczen and the late Brian Swink have taken adventures with Mellow Mangrove.

When Sean is not out on the water you can find him on the Vet A line on his #161 KTM. Sean finished up third overall in the 2019-2020 Hare Scramble season.
