CHAPLAIN’S CORNER
Starting Line to Checkered Flag… “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
Summer nights… cool but not cold; just right for an evening ride. My vintage street bike loves the cool temps and dense air compared to the daytime. As I ride away from the Daytona area and the city lights disappear, the shroud of the night, the darkness, envelopes me.

Sometimes heading out in the darkness can turn out to be a bad decision. There are hazards out there; debris in the road, truck treads, car parts and of course, the suicidal armadillo or racoon. Riders know, more than others, the danger in the darkness. In the daylight we spot the threats; at night, not so much.
This also applies to life and its unseen hazards. Stay in the darkness too long and you’re flirting with danger. Living in the darkness has consequences and will lead you to hidden perils and possibly disaster.
As riding in the daylight gives us a better chance of spotting the road hazards, walking in the light of Jesus can show us the evil waiting around the corner. Satan wants only one thing; to destroy us, but Jesus will lead us safely through life’s hazards.
In John 8:12, Jesus said, “ I am the world’s Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”
Tired of the dark side of life? Are you messing around in the dark, risking yours and your family’s safety? Or maybe you have already fallen into the darkness with disastrous results. Please, don’t be discouraged. Jesus is
ready, willing and able to bring you out of your darkness and into His perfect light!!! He will forgive you, clean you up and make your life shine bright with His presence.
Call out to Him with this prayer; “Jesus, I am tired of walking around in the darkness. Please forgive me of my sins, clean me up and let Your light shine on and through me. Jesus, I step out of the darkness and into your wonderful light. I declare You are now my Savior and the Lord of my life. I surrender to You. I claim Your loving strength as I walk in a new life with You.
If you prayed this prayer, Betty and I look forward to celebrating with you. Welcome to God’s family!!
Blessings on and off the road, Jim and Betty Edleston CMA
