PREZ SAYS
Some Old and Some New
Heading into some cooler months always sounds good but on the other end; we lose a bunch of daylight as the days get shorter. Somehow I don’t remember that part about being dark at 6 o’clock especially when you have all these projects waiting to be dealt with. Speaking of projects, I hope everyone got all that done this summer as it’s time to go racing with two events already in the books.

I was able to attend and participate in HS 1 but had to miss number 2 as my club is the third round and I was chained to the property for the entire weekend. This year we had a surprise from the landowner as we had already hung some ribbon on some new woods on the property we used last year. As I called to set up our work weekends, the surprise was we had to move over to the Cox Road property. Apparently the site of our last two races was going to be used for some more mining. So with September already here and we just got booted off our property, time was not on our side for the move. Equipment, trailers and tools had to be moved over to our now “new race property”. As we were all in disbelief, the wheels were already turning on a lay out and where we could go.
We know the property pretty well but that property is one of the toughest areas to work in as there is no pounding in stakes or drilling post holes as the ground is like concrete, unless it rains. We will have had our event by the time you read this as I am part of the reason this issue is a little late, well maybe, cause we got the one and only Mr. go fast himself Kurt Lucas running the magazine and can make up time like no tomorrow.
I am hoping everyone is liking the MotoTally sign up and scoring system as it has been in effect since the first event. Please remember to bring your helmet to sign up for a scan and check for your correct class. Also, please keep our local dealers in mind when needing repair parts or accessories as they support our series and are there when you need them. They all carry your favorite brands or can get it. FTR’s major sponsors like Moose Racing, Parts Unlimited, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, FMF and Engine Ice are all available through your local dealer. These companies continue to support our series, our banquet and produce superior products.
FTR continues to grow and with that comes some growing pains but we are constantly looking at ways to improve and make your series the best it can be. We are in the process of fixing the peewee’s and their schedule, but it takes a little time to research all the possibilities of improving the system, it’s a top priority for us. Be patient as this doesn’t happen overnight but will happen. We have a great team of volunteers that has the best interest of FTR and its members and will always do what’s best for FTR. Our participation numbers are continually increasing with every event and with that comes some unsolved opportunities but these issues are being developed into positives.
I also just wanted to welcome a long time friend and riding buddy all the way from Idaho to come race our series. He is committed to every event this year and has already found himself at home in the Silver Master A class. Welcome Lendon Smith.
Thanks for listening
