CHAPLAIN’S CORNER

Starting Line to Checkered Flag… “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

Hog Waller was a blast! Betty and I thoroughly enjoyed the “early Halloween”. We got to meet so many families as they came by the CMA tent to Trick or Treat. Along with the candy that was given out, all the kids got Jesus coloring books, wrist bands, crosses and small toys. The older kids got “rag tracks” to clean their bikes.

In the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 28, Jesus challenged His disciples to share His good news. “16-17 Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion. The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally. 18-20 Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” At this time, Jesus had proven He is the Son of God by literally walking out of the tomb alive. He confirmed He was who He said He is and did what He said He would do. By believing in his resurrection and His desire to forgive our sins, we will all have the guarantee to overcome death and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

Jesus met with His disciples to challenge and charge them to share His love and good news with the world. Betty and I had the privilege of sharing that good news with the families on Saturday night by giving out those special gifts. In Isaiah 55:8-11 God confirms that even something as simple as a coloring book will spread His good news. 8-11 “I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.” God’s Decree. “For as the sky soars high above earth, so the way I work surpasses the way you work, and the way I think is beyond the way you think. Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth, Doing their work of making things grow and blossom, producing seed for farmers and food for the hungry, So will the words that come out of my mouth not come back empty-handed. They’ll do the work I sent them to do, they’ll complete the assignment I gave them. For those who received those gifts at Hog Waller; take the time to read the words and spend the time with your kids as they fill in the coloring books. Jesus wants you to know Him as your Savior, Lord and best friend. Just ask Him. New season, New time! Please join us at “The Good Race” Joy Service, 7:00, Saturday night at the CMA tent!

Blessings on and off the road, Jim and Betty Edleston CMA
