A community in harmony with its setting

This is the first neighborhood of its kind in the region. And the only one that so fully integrates the Clemson community in its overarching vision. The community is named after Patrick Calhoun, whose granddaughter, Anna Maria, married Thomas Green Clemson. Anna Maria and Thomas gifted private land to the state for the establishment of the University. Today, the campus resides just three miles away from Patrick Square, which is also home to Clemson’s OSHER Lifelong Learning Center (OLLI). Within the 173 acres lies a multi-use neighborhood community, offering a wealth of opportunities for recreation, camaraderie, and continuing education. Residents enjoy a setting that is at once a treasured destination, as well as a launching point for adventure, activity, and recreation.

Nature’s bounty abides on every side

Inside Patrick Square, lies 62 acres of green space, pocket parks, walkways, lakes, and wetlands. Outside the community, lies a scenic world waiting to be explored. Bordering Patrick Square’s fresh-water lake (and easily accessible by footbridge) is Nettles Park, Clemson’s largest park. And just a few minutes away is Lake Hartwell, which spans 56,000 acres, including 962 miles of shoreline. Other natural points of interest nearby include:

Jocassee Gorges, Sumter National Forest, Table Rock State Park, Foothills Trail, Lake Keowee, Chatooga River, among others. Nearly everywhere you turn is an opportunity for hiking, fishing, skiing, camping, climbing, biking, backpacking, hunting, kayaking, canoeing, whitewater rafting, and virtually anything else under the Carolina sun.

A life of convenience and access

While Patrick Square grants homeowners a rich, self-contained living experience, our central location in the Upstate has distinct advantages. We are located in the heart of Clemson, less than five minutes from the university and all the highly acclaimed enticements of campus—educational facilities, special events, music, entertainment, football, basketball, and more. We are also just a short drive from a number of thriving cities, as well as various recreational and cultural points of interest—in the Carolinas and Georgia. Families will also enjoy access to terrific health care throughout the Upstate region, along with a highly rated school district.

A day in the life

Imagine waking to a gentle chorus of songbirds. You take your morning coffee on the front porch, greeting a cheerful neighbor walking their Lab. You glance at the paper, reading about the Tigers win Saturday, and then take your daily jog down to Nettles Park, stopping at the Fitness Center for a light circuit of weights, and then a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool. After answering a few emails in your home office, it’s time to meet your neighbors for lunch at Joe’s New York Pizza. You talk about your weekend plans and the upcoming holiday season. A bit later, you sign-up for a new class at OLLI, and then walk up to the great lawn for the jazz concert, followed by a romantic dinner for two at Rick Erwin’s Clemson restaurant. You think to yourself: it’s all right here. Everything you ever wanted. Whatever the day, whatever the season, Patrick Square presents an abundant life that integrates and harmonizes every aspect of your life. This is where you belong. This is home.

Town Center: the heart of our community

In the days before WWII, neighborhoods were designed around a central hub or square that served as the gathering spot for families. Local shops, restaurants, and businesses were there to do much more than simply serve the community—they were part of the community. Families and shop owners were interwoven and connected by a common bond: the neighborhood. Today, that ideal is realized at Patrick Square. Town Center features a variety of restaurants, businesses, professional practices, and centers for learning—all within an easy walk from your front porch. Family members, young and older alike, are drawn to the bustle and energy of a vibrant location in which people take center stage. This is the place for impromptu visits with neighbors… lunch with longtime friends…outdoor activities for the children…and high-energy concerts under the glimmer of summer stars. It’s all within a leisurely walk from your home.

“Patrick Square is crafting a sense of place as it honors Clemson’s own sense of place. It is the best planned village I’ve ever seen—a destination in itself.”

— Former Clemson Mayor, Larry Abernathy

Town Square

The cornerstone of Town Center is our charming Town Square, an inviting 40,000-square-foot amenity shared by business owners, families, and friends. Anchored by the elegant Inn at Patrick Square and the OLLI Center, Town Square is alive with activity: outdoor markets, bustling walkways, charming gazebos, relaxing green spaces, and year-round events that celebrate community and attract visitors from the Clemson community and beyond.
