HEAVY WEATHER DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM (HWCD)
The HWCD has been designed by Fugro, specifically to cater for heavy weather environment and semi submersible drilling rigs. The principle behind a HWCD is to provide additional stability and support to the (ROV) Remotely Operated Vehicles as it passes through the airsea interface immediately above and below surface. HWCD can provide extra support, reliability and a piece of mind to ensure that the ROV system is never caught waiting on weather while the rig stands by. The Frame Structure sitting on the extended structure on a semi-submersible rig provides a means of supporting the weight of all the components. The HWCD comprise of an integrated Frame Structure consisting of Moonpool (MP) door, Trolley, Sheave, Umbilical Winch, Umbilical 160KW Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU), Constant Tension (CT) Winch, Guide Wire Winch, Constant Tension HPU, Cursor and Clump Weight. Guide Wire Winch which deploys a 2Te clump weight through a moonpool on the frame structure down into sea to station at rig pontoon level will provide a guide for 3.5Te Cursor to travel along. The CT Winch is used to deploy and recover a ROV package consisting of associated top hat (TMS) Tether Management System unit plus Fugro ROV (in particular FCV3000) and work packages (where fitted) up to a maximum in air weight of 8.65Te via a 3.5Te Cursor. The CT Winch which can hold 12.15Te SWL at 3.5g is guided along the guide wire ropes which provide additional stability to the package through the air-sea interface to ensure smooth and controlled launched and recovery process. The maximum operating depth of seawater shall be 3000m or maximum in water weight of 22,000kg. Operations can be performed in sea conditions up to and including those defined by sea state 7 (7m significant wave height). The HWCD shall be capable of operating in temperatures from 20ยบCto +45ยบC and in up to 100% humidity.
