The city of Philadelphia is one of the most well-known and historical cities in the United States of America. In addition, Philadelphia is also known for historical architecture and the city of art. In this studio, Architecture 3232, sustainability design studio, each student is required to design a sequence of three buildings that is related to an artist’s needs. We started with our first buildings, which is a mix-use of a cafe and an administration office, which was then followed with an art gallery building and finished with an artist’s studio tower. In this project, I am interested in designing buildings that have sustainable technology features to operate the building to receive the most outcome, sustainably. I truly believe that sustainability is one of the most concerned topics in architecture design today. Therefore, in this project I have been working with the newest technology and materials that are available in the industry. In addition, I am also using the sizes and shapes of the design to reach the sustainable goals of the studio. Apart from sustainability design, I also proposed a design that addresses how people move inside and outside buildings. In the Philadelphia Art Complex, people may feel differently depending on where they move in the site, even with the same architectural language but it creates a different feeling to the visitor or the people who are using the building. 34
