MALAYSIA INVESTMENT Reside in Malaysia to conduct business
INTRODUCTION Not all investments are made for the return of money it generates or for the joy of conducting business around the world. One such is Malaysia’s Investment Residency program. Having been named as My Malaysia Second Home VISA Program (MM2H), it provides the investor relocation to the country for a period of 10 years. It is not a Permanent Residency VISA. This program is handled by the Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture. This program was primarily introduced to help the country promote that the country is livable for potential overseas residents.
MM2H has been designed to provide long-term multi-entry VISA for residents of all those countries which Malaysia approves of. The applicants can choose to reside anywhere in Peninsula Malaysia, however to live in Sarawak, there are certain guidelines to be followed. Applicants can purchase property too in Peninsula Malaysia. However, such a real-estate purchase will have to be the value that the Government decides. It cannot be less than RM 500,000.
Initially, the investor will have to make a bank deposit, a minimum of RM500,000. This cannot be withdrawn by the investor during the 1st year. In the second year, the investor can withdraw only such an amount which he would want to invest in the real estate of Malaysia or for education purpose or for medical purposes. However, at any given point of time, the investor has to maintain a minimum of RM 150,000 if he/she is above 50 years of age and RM 100,000 if he/she is below 50 years of age.
One of the main eligibility criteria for this program is that the investor must be earning a minimum of RM10,000 (USD 2,500) every month, if the investor is below 50 years of age and such an investor should have a minimum net worth of RM 500,000. If the applicant is above 50 years of age, then he/she will have to prove their personal liquid assets of RM 350,000. Such liquid assets can be cash in the form of bank balance, securities and bonds. The investor should be sponsored by a Malaysian Citizen. Alternatively, the investor can approach a registered immigration agent who will have to provide a personal bond of RM2000 to support the investor.
There are a lot of documents that need to be produced by the investor and a few need to be obtained from Malaysia. It would be difficult if the applicant does not approach a registered agent who can take care of the complete process and this is where XIPHIAS Immigration plays its part to the T. Once the application gets approved, the investor will be provided with the Conditional Approval Letter. With that letter, the investor will have to travel to Malaysia to complete the rest of the process. In the year 2020, Malaysian Government has announced reduction of prices for the real estate properties for international investors. This year, Malaysian Government has declared that applicants who are over 50 years of age can apply for part-time jobs in Malaysia.
