Yin is In Yin Yoga is getting a lot of attention these days, probably because our predominantly “yang” dominated modern lifestyles call for more balance. Daily stress impacts our body, mind and soul. Though we long to be at ease and enjoy every moment of life, to actually unwind is easier said than done. We tend to ‘keep going’ because we don’t know how else to ‘keep up’. The Yin Yoga Therapy practice is designed to create space for just that – rejuvenate the body, clear the mind, open up the heart and allow energetic healing to take place. So, welcome to the Yin side! A dedicated attempt to bring balance and healing to our modern-day life. Yin Yoga Therapy
What Is Yin Yoga?
The term Yin Yoga comes from the ancient Daoist tradition of yin and yang. While yang relates to rhythm and repetition, creating heat in the body, yin is passive, cooling the body and calming the mind. Two completely opposite forces that are yet interconnected. The peacefulness of the long-held static stretches in Yin Yoga allow space for awareness while accelerating the reveal and release of deep layers of tension held within our connective tissue. The Daoist philosophy and healing wisdom sheds light on the energy meridians therefore providing insight and guidance towards a healthier life. Yin Yoga Therapy
Why Choose Yin Yoga Therapy? SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE… By listening to our body closely we understand the transformative possibilities of being present with sensation thus embodying mindfulness principles on a physical level. From this point we enable the body to guide the mind to the ultimate experience of peace, where we cultivate an attitude of loving kindness towards ourselves. It is from this flow of abundance that we are able to offer loving kindness to the rest of the world. HOW IT HELPS… When you awaken and align your body’s underlying energy, you activate your innate process of healing and transformation. Together we will demystify how energy affects everything you do and feel and show you how to work with both – your body and mind. We practice sequences that are tailor-made to address physical or emotional issues where the alternative medicine aspect of Daoism offers the opportunity for deep healing and profound transformation. You will learn simple principles, tools and practices that balance your body – which is how physical, emotional and spiritual healing begins – so you can build vitality, unravel energetic blockages and boost your immunity. Yin Yoga is so much more than physical stretching. It is an art, a philosophy and a way to live. Tune in. Chill out. Stay yin.

Accommodation & Meals Accommodation – Simple, homestyle guesthouse We’ll be staying at a small local guesthouse in Fulidhoo Island. The guesthouse only has 5 rooms, and they’ll be exclusively for us. Don’t expect five-star luxury or overwater bungalows, though – this is a simple location at the edge of a beautiful lagoon. Wake to hear the waters lapping! All rooms have AC, ensuite bathrooms and fridges. We’ll have a first floor, shaded yoga space that overlooks a lovely garden and the sea beyond.
MEALS Alexandra’s husband Jay will be rustling up wholesome, vegetarian meals during your stay and you are welcome to use the kitchen as well. There are shops on the island selling basic food stuffs, but remember that everything in the Maldives is imported, so supplies are fairly limited.
About Fulidhoo Island Fulidhoo Island, Vaavu Atoll Fulidhoo Island is a local island in the Maldives, where a community of around 300 people live. Tourism is thriving on the island, with many travellers wanting to experience the beauty of the Maldivian waters without paying the high price tag of the private resort islands. You’ll need to eschew visions of overwater bungalows and understand that this is a local community with a lot of charm.
Good to Know As the Maldives is 100% Muslim, you’ll need to be respectful of the local culture and we recommend covering from shoulders to mid thigh when walking around the island. As everything is imported, you should expect prices to be similar to European prices.
Day-Off Activities THE OCEAN WILL BE CALLING YOUR NAME! Whether it’s just a swim in the beautiful lagoon, or joining a snorkelling or diving excursion, the water will be where you want to be on your days off.
