CELEBRATING A YEAR OF ACHIEVEMENT & NEW IDEAS

2017-18 marked a year of achievements and new programs that provided opportunities for North Orange County Chamber to continue leadership as a regional voice for business.

“It has been my pleasure to serve as Chair of the board and to work with an outstanding team representing a broad variety of businesses in the region,” said outgoing Chair, Marty Burbank.“This year the Chamber focused on developing a foundation for the organization’s strategic plan. In doing so, we offered variety of programming to support efforts in the areas of building cities, inclusion, advocating for a better business community and workforce development.”

Jill Olmstead, nurse practitioner of St. Jude Heritage Medical Group, shared with attendees at SHE Influences how her experience and passion helps patients live happier, healthier lives.

Among this year’s highlights was the establishment of new Wake Up programs in the cities of Buena Park, Fullerton and Stanton. This targeted networking opportunity focused on local issues facing business leaders in each of those cities. Leading the discussions were elected representatives including Virginia Vaughn, Mayor, Buena Park; Jennifer Fitzgerald, Councilmember, Fullerton, and Rigoberto A. Ramirez, Mayor Pro Tem, Stanton.

Another new program, State of North Orange County, provided a glimpse into those things businesses needed most – a trained workforce, access to quality health care, and places for employees to live. It also highlighted changes one business made that helped it not only survive, but also thrive!

The Chamber’s inaugural SHE Influences TM – a women’s conference – attracted more than 100 business leaders as they explored challenges, ideas and issues being addressed by the growing segment of women and women owned businesses.

Continuing its work assisting small business, the Chamber also co-sponsored a small business resource fair hosted by Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk Silva. The program included updates on key issues influencing small businesses as well as a panel of entrepreneurs who are using state-sponsored programs to overcome obstacles.

“...WE OFFERED A VARIETY OF PROGRAMMING TO SUPPORT EFFORTS IN THE AREAS OF BUILDING CITIES, INCLUSION, ADVOCATING FOR A BETTER BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT.”
