PILLAR: Tell me about Fullerton Grocery Outlet and how your passion for innovation is represented by your company?
FGO: Fullerton Grocery Outlet strives to provide quality service and great prices to our local community. With opportunistic buying, we are able to offer affordable prices by utilizing technology to buy up excess inventories at big discounts and pass the savings on to our customers. We also pride ourselves in great customer service and on maintaining a friendly, family like atmosphere.
PILLAR: What successful marketing efforts have you implemented to brand your business?
FGO: We love going out into the community for different events and networking with other business owners. As a company, we also realize it is important to give back. Joining Soroptimist of Fullerton has allowed us to build relationships with people locally. We also have an active social media presence and have designed a plan to keep us visible through online platforms.
We also benefit from having a great company standing behind us. We are able to offer amazing prices, 40-70% off compared to other stores. We carry items such as fresh meat, fresh produce, dairy plus a variety of organics… all at affordable prices. Some will say “it is like a treasure hunt” every time they are in our store.
PILLAR: Why did you choose Fullerton to locate your business?
FGO: We grew up in Orange County and love Fullerton. The local community has been very friendly and welcoming. We are also a Titan Family! Our oldest graduated CSUF and the other two currently attend the University. We believe Fullerton is a wonderful community to start our business.
PILLAR: As someone doing business in Fullerton, how does the Chamber help you?
FGO: The Chamber helps us grow relationships with the community. NOCC has been very positive and supportive. Their support during our grand opening has been fantastic. Overall, Fullerton is an awesome community and supportive of new businesses.
PILLAR: What’s an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know?
FGO: Each Grocery Outlet is a local independently owned business. Although new to Grocery Outlet, we come to this business, with nearly 40 years of experience in the grocery business. Mike has been in management for major national grocery chains. Melanie’s business experience and passion for community is a perfect combination.
