We dedicate the 2012/2013 SeaSon to the memory of ellen a. Groff

At right is pictured one of the angels that flanks the Fulton’s proscenium above you. In every theatre there are individuals whose dedication of resources and generosity of spirit make it possible for us to create and enjoy the art and craft of live theatre. To those of us who work in the theatre, they are often referred to as angels. We recently lost one such dear friend. And so we dedicate this—and every performance in the 2012/2013 Season— to the loving memory of our friend Ellen A. Groff. May “flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.” —Act V, scene ii, Shakespeare’s Hamlet

A Message from the Fulton Leadership

Dear Friends, We are so glad to have you with us for this very special production. For years, Marc has wanted to direct A Chorus Line on this stage and we are thrilled to share this opportunity with you. From Marc: “I can’t tell you how much it means to me to be directing this show. I got my start as a dancer, and so in many ways this is the story of my own life. And now after many years in this world of dance and theatre it is so gratifying to realize my own vision of this beloved musical. I want this show to be a celebration of anyone who has followed their dream to entertain us. It has been such an honor to work with this incredibly talented cast. I want to acknowledge the incredible discipline and commitment of the dancers not just on this stage, but everywhere.” And if you love A Chorus Line, you will not want to miss Dreamgirls, another story of the tragedies and triumphs of performers – this time set against the backdrop of the music industry during the rise of Motown. Both shows require performers who are willing to give their entire hearts and souls to an audience in spectacular performance. We are honored to continue a 160 year tradition of first-rate performances at this theatre. A Chorus Line and Dreamgirls are destined to be bright jewels in the Fulton’s crown. Finally, please take note of our electrifying 2013/2014 Season. Everyone on staff is very excited about the next year and a half at the Fulton. We welcome you to become a part of that excitement and subscribe today!

About the Fulton Guild

Since 1979, The Fulton Opera House Guild, an all volunteer organization, has worked to promote and support the Fulton Opera House Foundation. Though our activities are many, our main source of financial support for the Fulton is by way of our volunteers, who serve Fulton patrons at the lobby bar and refreshment stands. We offer beverages and snacks before the performance and at intermission. All monies earned are presented to the Foundation. Want to join the Fulton Guild next season? Please see one of our Guild members at the refreshment stand for an application or additional information. AEA negotiates wages and working conditions, providing a wide range of benefits, including health and pension plans for its members. AEA is a member of the AFL-CIO, and is affiliated with the FIA, an international association of performing arts unions. AEA and the League of Resident Theatres (LORT), a national association of non-profit regional theatres, negotiated our first contract in 1966. Our goal is to foster the artistic life of both the regional non-profit theatre, and the actors who work in that theatre, by establishing methods of operation to which the individual theatres and actors subscribe in a collective and mutually beneficial relationship. Together, we are dedicated to upholding the highest artistic standards in our community.

Help Wanted Did you know the Fulton has recently expanded its scene shop and costume shop operations? We are now looking for hourly employees and volunteers to help build and paint set pieces and alter costumes. Also, our shop is available to build sets for other professional, community, high school and church theatre productions. To learn more, contact William Mohney at wmohney@thefulton.org.

Sometimes you have to think inside the box. An idea or inspiration can come from anywhere. In designing the Fulton Theatre’s new office space, Benjamin Roberts turned to The HON Company to transform an aging, inadequate space into a new, contemporary and highly functional workplace. Ž
