30 March to 2 July Curated by Christopher Green Follow this exhibition on social media: #mésqueunllibre
‘À toute épreuve’, more than a book reconstructs the creative process behind Miró’s book based on a collection of poems by Paul Éluard with the same title. The exhibition is part of the Miró. Documents series, whose aim is to use the Fundació’s archive to further explore certain aspects of Miró’s work. The layout and execution of À toute épreuve is a reflection of Miró’s connection with the poets of the 1920s, which led to major transformations in his visual language. With this book, published by Gérald Cramer in 1958, Miró fulfilled his wish to venture beyond illustrating the poet’s words and end up creating an object. ‘A book must have all the dignity of a sculpture carved in marble.’ Letter from Joan Miró to Gérald Cramer. Barcelona, 19 June 1948, Bibliothèque publique et universitaire, Geneva, Gérald Cramer Archives.

The Fundació Joan Miró is a remarkable space created by Joan Miró himself with the idea of making art accessible to all. The collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and works on paper displayed at the Fundació is one of the most comprehensive selections of Miró’s oeuvre, offering a thorough overview of all the stages of his life and career. Eight distinct but interconnected sections allow visitors to explore all aspects of the work and personal language of one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century: ‘The Land’, ‘Beyond Painting’, ‘Violence’, ‘Escape’, ‘Anonymity’, ‘Poetry and Silence’, ‘Anti-Painting’, ‘Sobreteixims’, and ‘Art and Everyday Life’ illustrate the key concepts in Miró’s thinking and his oeuvre, and show his desire to transcend conventional painting. The paintings related to Surrealism and the works based on the Spanish Civil War are particularly noteworthy due to their artistic and poetic significance. Other important pieces include the large canvases Miró produced from the late seventies onwards, which are characterised by large fields of colour and free gesture.

Endgame: Duchamp, chess and the avant-garde Curated by Manuel Segade Follow this exhibition on social media: #Fidepartida
Endgame: Duchamp, chess and the avant-gardes is an account of twentieth-century avant-garde movements up to the beginning of conceptual art, told from the angle of what appears to be a minor anecdote: the game of chess. Taking Marcel Duchamp's life as our time frame, the exhibition explores the hypothesis that chess was a backdrop to the historical avant-gardes in several senses. By revealing the ongoing presence of chess throughout a variety of different currents, we are able to observe the shift from the pleasure of play to the analysis of language. It is the path that leads from the Fauvist figuration of the 1910s to the symbolic tradition of Surrealism and finally, to its culmination in art as idea in Conceptual Art, by way of the leading artists of the modern era.
Publication available at the Fundaciรณ Mirรณ bookshop with texts by Manuel Segade, Estrella de Diego and Adina Kamien-Kazhdan.

Self-organization Curated by Antonio Ortega Follow this exhibition on social media: #Autogestiรณ
Self-organization traces the genealogy of DIY practices from the pioneering artists of the 1960s to the present. Applying what could be considered as self-organisation strategies, these artists have gained control of the production, transmission and reception of their works with gestures of empowerment that have resulted in new ways of relating to the art system.

Joaquim Gomis Brossa at La Ricarda
Lluís Maria Riera, an amateur photographer with close ties to the Fundació Joan Miró and Galeria Joan Prats, was a friend of Miró, Tàpies and Brossa, among other artists. He worked with them setting up their exhibitions at Galeria Joan Prats, and these relationships allowed him to perform and convey a selective and attentive analysis of the details in his surroundings.
A selection of Joaquim Gomis’s photographs covering the two performances held at La Ricarda in the 1960s, conceived jointly by Joan Brossa and Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny: Suite bufa and Concert per a representar. Carles Santos, Anna Ricci and Terri Mestres also participated, among others.

Espai 13 One Foot Out. Expeditions and Diasporas Programme curated by Jordi Antas Follow this exhibition on social media: #Peuafora
The exhibition programme One Foot Out. Expeditions and Diasporas explores aspects of belonging to and breaking away from an artistic context. Projects that begin with a voluntary dispersion based on processes and questions: what is generated in the distance, and what can be brought back. Six separate solo shows that are all grounded in uncertainty and explore the relationships that form around them, in order to offer a more plural, liberated vision. The participating artists move between performativity and audience involvement, fiction, and unexpected situations. A diasporic view.

Any Object Is a Temporary Space Nicolás Lamas
Plural being: I’m the others, the others are me Momu & No Es
By means of the selective manipulation of images, texts, sounds, and objects associated with the creation and transmission of knowledge, Nicolás Lamas opens up a critical debate on the collective mechanisms that shape common perceptions and generate our shared imaginary.
Artistic duo Momu & No Es work on the construction of narratives that question established rules and social roles so as to come up with alternatives for the subversion of reality.
In his project for Espai 13, Lamas will meticulously build up a network of evocative connections that reveal a system whose equilibrium is based on its very inconsistency and lack of equilibrium.
For the One Foot Out series, the two artists present a virtual reality installation based on the open-source electronics platform Arduino. The project begins with the symbolic dimension of travel and explores the status of the places we move through. At Espai 13, Momu & No Es will present two exhibitions in one, and visitors will activate one of the options depending on their interaction with the elements in the room.

17 March to 30 April Powers of persuasion Eva Fàbregas In her work, Eva Fàbregas uses processes and testimonies that have to do with images and memory, so that it become a means of imagining timelines. She uses strategies that allow her to address and appropriate different scenarios, concepts, and interests: spaces of contradiction, of psychological engagement with consumer objects; impossible architectural projects, monuments, and the urban context; modernism, design, and industrial engineering; leaps in time, and contacts with science fiction. For Espai 13, Fàbregas will use sculptural objects and performativity to explore the field of market research through the personification techniques of focus groups, in order to show the network of social rituals and relationships.

Nadala purehardillusion Luis Bisbe Follow this project on social media: #puraillusiodura
Every year the Fundació Joan Miró invites an artist to come up with an installation based on his or her interpretation of a Christmas theme. This year, Luis Bisbe offers us a meeting point between the museum’s interior and exterior, between a fir tree and the brightness we associate with the holiday season. Christmas is a time for beliefs and appearances, and in this installation Bisbe draws attention to the illusionistic element that shapes the meaning of the celebration. Espai 13
