We want to shine a spotlight on Cornwall Pride and all the amazing work they’ve been doing over the past 16 years. They’ve truly been a shining beacon of visibility and awareness for the LGBTQ+ and marginalised communities across Cornwall. But you know what? They’re not stopping there!

Cornwall Pride understands that while visibility is important, it’s going to take a whole lot more to make our duchy an even better place for LGBTQ+ and marginalised people to grow up, live, and work in. That’s why they’re launching Community Pride, a fantastic initiative that brings together communities in pride across 10 towns and the city of Cornwall. How awesome is that?

With the support of their amazing community, volunteers, partners, supporters, and funders, Cornwall Pride is all about sharing their values and making a positive impact. They’ve even launched a suicide prevention and mental wellbeing support group called Penguin Soup. How cool is that name? Through this exciting handover of care from Truro Rangers to Cornwall Pride, they’re now the official custodians of the Pride Tree. This means they can continue supporting creative workshops that connect our community to this sustainable awareness and support project.

They’ve got some amazing face-to-face community engagement events lined up, along with a mental health hub and community media to provide much-needed bespoke community peer-to-peer support. Did you know that half of LGBTQ+ people (that’s 52%!) experienced depression in the last year? And almost half of trans people have thought about taking their own life at some point in their lifetime. Penguin Soup is a project that gently brings people together, aiming to reduce isolation and the impact of mental ill health in the queer community.
