1 LIVE-WORK: FAMILY HOME The small family home is an exceptional, inspiring, effective and anchored design. The home will be occupied by two adults and a four year old child and one of the adults runs their own business in the home. The design creates a family home as well as a business premises. The design considers creating a home that is welcoming and provides warmth, cosiness and unity. For the workspace, the design creates a lot of space for the female so she is able to her make her products, store her materials and also be able to display merchandise for sale. Due to the constraining and narrow site, the design was made an open plan, minimising the use of internal walls so as much natural lighting was let into the design for the work space as well as the home.

2 DAMANG COMMUNITY HALL This project is to develop and produce a design for a specific climate. The project is all about ‘sustainability’ and environmental strategies. The design was developed for a new space for the community of a small village called Damang in the Eastern region of Ghana in West Africa. The place is suppose to allow activities such as meetings, dancing and drumming classes. The local charity that has been working with the community also wants the space to hold training events and book clubs. Renewable technologies such solar energy, rainwater recycling and biogas were integrated into the design.

3 CO-EXISTENCE IN THEORY The proposed design is to create a change for Dalston. The design is aimed at removing the non-placelessness at Dalston Lane and bringing it back into a place with life and growth. Within the area of the site, the most historical factor was the theatre. Dalston has always had a performing arts background. Being able to keep this factor of the site within my proposal and integrate it with my design is what I am aiming to do. The programme of a Performing Arts Centre has been chosen due to this history of the site and also to create potential jobs and experiences for the people of Dalston. Having my programme being rooted in theatre keeps the history of the site alive and is able to still be known as a place of creativity and talent.

4 BEAUTY BAR

INTERIOR VISUAL: FACIAL/MASSAGE AREA

This beauty bar is designed solely on the woman. Beauty is a huge part of a woman, especially when dealing with the physical aspect of it. These are things such as hair, makeup or skin. A lot of women these days take pride in their outward appearances as it allows her to look and feel good about herself. I wanted to create a space where women can come to get all the possible beauty services that they could need, rather than having to go to different places to get all this done. I want to create a space where women can come and feel pampered, warm and satisfied with all their beauty requirements.
