National Park
THE PEACEFUL OASIS THAT FEEDS THE SOUL AND PREPARES THE BODY FOR NEW CHALLENGES
The Sutjeska National Park is the oldest and largest national park in B&H. The last rainforest in Europe, Perućica, which is currently on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is located within its midst. The highest mountain peak in B&H, Maglić, the Zelengora glacial lakes, the imposing canyons of Sutjeska and Hrčavke, the Skakavac Waterfall (75 m), as well as the Memorial Complex of the famous Battle of Sutjeska are also sights to visit within the national park.
SIGHTS FROM THE VIEWPOINTS
Located on the border between B&H and Montenegro, the Sutjeska National Park stretches out over an area of 16,052.34 ha. More than 66 percent is filled with forests, whereas the rest consists of meadows, pastures, and barren land. It is impossible to visit the whole area in one day, which is why there are also multi-day arrangements in addition to one-day arrangements to introduce you to this oasis of peace. These arrangements serve to pamper your soul and prepare your body for new life and business challenges. When it comes to sports, you will enjoy yourself in Tjentište, where there is a recreation center with in-built sports courts. As you depart from Tjentište, you will come across viewpoints with unforgettable views. The first one you come across, the Beškita Viewpoint (1275m), offers a view of Perućica, the Skakavac Waterfall, which drops from the height of 75m from the heart of the rainforest, and the Heroji Valley. Only a kilometer from the first viewpoint is the second one, Dragoš sedlo (1306m), which fills people with the pleasure of being a small part of primordial nature with its wildlife diversity and riches, intact and preserved for present and future generations. Another 10 km from here, you will reach Prijevor at an altitude of 1668 m, located below the top of Maglić. Here you can find herders’ cottages, where you can stop for organic mountain cheese and cream with bread prepared under the bell during the summer months. Do not miss the viewpoint Borić, which is located close to the Donja Bare Lake in Zelengora. From an altitude of 1475 m, you can see the Sutjeska canyon, mountains, rainforest, viewpoints, the remains of the old towns of Vratar and Vratac, as well as Kosman.
