THE ROYAL TOWN OF JAJCE IS ONE OF THE OLDEST, MOST FAMOUS AND MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWNS IN B&H AND THE REGION. EVERY YEAR IT ATTRACTS

A GROWING NUMBER OF DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN TOURISTS. JAJCE WAS ONE OF THE FEW CITIES IN THE COUNTRY THAT ACHIEVED RELATIVELY GOOD

TOURIST RESULTS EVEN DURING THE 2020 AND 2021 PANDEMIC YEARS.

NEW TOURIST FACILITIES AND EVENTS

The introduction of new tourist facilities and events, such as a unique zip line stretching across the Jajce Waterfalls, concerts on the plateau of the waterfall without an audience, but with live broadcasts, and other interesting events, attracted a large number of Bosnians and Herzegovinians to Jajce. Public Institution “Agency for Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage and Development of Tourist Potentials of the Town of Jajce”, in cooperation with the Municipality of Jajce and partners from the private sector, plans to further improve the tourist facilities and cultural events on offer in the upcoming tourist season for the enjoyment of anyone who comes to visit Jajce.

MUSIC AND THE THUMPING NOISE OF CRASHING WATERFALLS

In the interest of attracting as many foreign guests as possible, Jajce was presented at several international fairs this year. To that end, at the beginning of the tourist season,at the end of May,a concert of one of the most famous music stars in the world DJ James Jones was held on the plateau of the Jajce Waterfalls. It was organised in cooperation with the Paris-based agency “Cercle”, which has been arranging amazing concerts time in the most unusual locations throughout the world for quite some. During the month of June, a two-day international motorcycle race, which was organised by the Moto Club “Padrino”, also took place in Jajce. At the end of the month (24-26 June), the “MoonJune” Jazz Festival will be held on the plateau below the waterfalls. It will be a unique event in the whole country this year, because some of the world’s leading jazz musicians will gather to perform in Jajce.

JULY ON A THEATRICAL STAGE WHICH MEANS THE WORLD TO ACTORS

The month of July is traditionally marked by the Theatre Games of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an event organised by Jajce Cultural Center, which will take place from 29 June to 8 July 2022 this year. This year,

too, it will welcome the leading theatres in B&H to showcase the best theatre performances in the country. The day after the Theatre Games end, on 9 and 10 July 2022, “Days of the Middle Ages” will be held in Jajce. Over the course of two days, the traditional event will bring to life our distant past and take us back to the medieval era with knights and kings. Numerous knight groups from the country and abroad will partake in it. For fans of the local rock scene, Zabranjeno pušenje will give a concert at the fortress in Jajce on 16 July 2002.

THE INEVITABLE HIGH DIVES FROM THE WATERFALLS

Extreme sport lovers will be able to enjoy the International High Diving Competition from the Pliva Waterfalls scheduled for 18 August 2022. The event’s evening program will be held at the fortress in Jajce and include a concert by the popular band Crvena jabuka. Another event, which enhanced the cultural life of the Jajce community with is name and rich programme, will be held at the end of August this year too. It is called the “Jajce Landing Operation” and will take place from 26-28 August 2022. Fans of film art will be able to enjoy the screening of the best films aired at the Sarajevo Film Festival this year as well. In the music part of the programme, Dubioza kolektiv, one of the most popular bands in the region, will perform first, and Burak Yeter, the well-known Turkish DJ, will perform second. Fans of sevdah will enjoy an unforgettable evening thanks to Damir Imamović, the acclaimed author of the traditional Bosnian music. This is just a part of the rich programme that awaits all visitors to Jajce this season.

ADRENALINE PARK FOR THE LITTLE ONES

Adrenaline-seeking adventurers will be able to enjoy a zip line ride through the Vrbas Canyon and the magnificent waterfalls this year too. An adrenaline park near the waterfalls featuring a number of attractions for small children will be open. Pliva Lakes with their unique mills commonly attract the largest number of visitors. Unforgettable rides on various types of boats on the Large Pliva Lake will be part of the offer again this year, but caterers in Jajce will have other activities and events in the upcoming season. New catering establishments and children’s playgrounds have been opened on the Small Pliva Lake. USAID, Linden d.o.o. Sarajevo, Ideas Bussines Lab d.o.o. Sarajevo, and Sarajevo Navigator Foundation have partnered up to help promote and organise the Summer in Jajce 2022 event.

WITH THE AIM TO BETTER PRESENT ITS RICH CULTURAL, HISTORICAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE TO THE WHOLE WORLD, JAJCE PLANS TO APPLY FOR INSCRIPTION ON THE UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LIST THIS YEAR.

TROUT À LA KING

You can add the final touch to your stay in Jajce by trying out the unique Bosnian-Herzegovinian cuisine: the famous Trout à la King, bosanski lonac (pot stew), Bey’s Soup or grilled meat along with homemade brandy or local wine. Hence, we recommend everyone to visit the royal town to see for themselves why this place in particular is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most breathtakingly beautiful small towns in the world, according to the US-based magazine Thrillist.
