UK HOME WORKING STATISTICS BY DEMOGRAPHIC The coronavirus pandemic has greatly changed how people up and down the country work, with 46.6% of workers doing at least some of their work from home as of April 2020, according to statistics from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Sex The ONS statistics showed that there was little variation between the percentage of men and women working from home during the survey period. Women were more likely to work from home at 47.5%, with men not far behind at 45.7%. Men and women were similarly likely to cite the pandemic as being the driving force behind them working from home (86% and 85.9% respectively).

Age Figures from the ONS show that individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 were less likely to be working from home than any other age group, with just 30.2% of people carrying out some work from home. However, this number rose to 54.3% for 25- to 34-yearolds, and 51.3% for 35- to 49-year-olds.

Ethnicity When it comes to ethnicity, the ONS figures show only slight differences. In April 2020, 46.4% of people who declared their ethnicity as white were working from home, compared to 48.1% of those in ethnic minority groups.
