TYPES OF CASTERS There are several different types of office chair casters available, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
Free-Wheeling Casters Free-wheeling casters allow the chair to move even when weight is applied. This means the user can move the chair around whilst still seated. As a result, free-wheeling casters are most commonly used for office chairs, as they allow the user to move short distances to collaborate with colleagues or reach items easily.
Charge-Braked Casters Charge-braked casters, on the other hand, lock when weight is applied to the chair. This type of caster is a good choice if mobility is important, but a chair needs to remain in place when it is being used.

Load Ratings Casters are also available in a range of load ratings. The common ratings are light duty, light-medium duty, medium duty, heavy duty, and extra super duty. Light duty casters are designed for weights up to 299 lbs, whereas extra super duty casters can hold weights of greater than 6,000 lbs.
