CAPITAL REGION COMMUNITY SERVICES

Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) provides a wide range of inclusive programs and services to individuals, families, children and young people in the Belconnen and wider Capital Region. CRCS works with community members, local organisations and businesses to develop responsive programs, services and activities that support self-determination and reduce social isolation. CRCS is dedicated to using our strong relationships with government and other community services to enhance CRCS’s capacity to achieve our vision of an inclusive, connected community for all.

CRCS is committed to working with and advocating for rainbow communities across the entire Capital Region. We continually review and improve how we communicate, document, design services, promote and celebrate diversity for our employees, our volunteers, our participants and our communities. Since 1975, Belconnen Community Service (BCS) provided a range of high quality, integrated and inclusive programs and services residents of the Belconnen and wider Canberra region. In 2019, following extensive stakeholder consultation, BCS drafted a new Strategic Plan for the years 2020-2030, and in 2020, officially changed its name to Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) as an indication of its reach into the wider Capital Region. While the company is currently undergoing this period of transition, our commitment to the diverse range of people in the Capital Region remains steadfast.

BitBent has been running in Canberra for over 10 years and is an allinclusive social support group for gender and sexually diverse young people. We offer two sessions to cater for both school-aged and outof-school participants. BitBent is facilitated by youth workers from the LGTBIQ+ community. Bit Bent is a great space to meet new friends and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
