elcome to Fusion issue number seven! Lots of goodness in this month's issue including our very special cover models, the princesses of cute, Anya Ohmai and Suetabulous Yootz.
Also this month, Auryn Beorn continues to try and help us get our inventory in ship shape condition with her inventory sorting series. I spent a long time trying to keep on top of my manic jumble of an inventory, but with a shopping addiction as fervent as mine, I'm beginning to suspect it's more than a one woman job. I've always said the first person who invents an inventory sorting service that doesn't require sharing passwords will be a very rich one indeed! Daija has supplied us with a filled to bursting fashion section this issue! Of course Emiliana is back with her beautiful photography and styling for the 'One Item, Three Outfits' feature and Bliss ventures into the fashion arena again with some lovely photography by Harvest Dezno and the newest addition to our photography team, Bethany Heart. I am genuinely so grateful to have the team of people working with me making this magazine work. I don't often heap praise on the Fusion team in public because, like any compliment, I feel it loses its authenticity if said too much, but this issue I want to highlight Ivana Lockhart for her beautiful and totally adorable cover photography, Bliss Windlow who never fails to step up to the plate and always makes me cackle like a lunatic at her engaging, wickedly witty writing and Rylan Carling, one of my superstars, for agreeing not to leave me for RL after all!

think it is important that we be supportive to our parents and tell them the things they want to hear. We cannot possibly understand the enormous pressure they are under to compete with other parents over the success of their children. Think of poor mom going to bridge each week and hearing Elaine talk about her son the doctor and Andrea talk about her daughter who works on Wall Street. She can’t possibly say, “My son is the pixelated sex god in Second Life. He has eight women that kneel before him and call him ‘Master,”’ no matter how proud she might be.
My parents make me put a towel over my computer screen when they come over because they are disturbed that my ‘Barbie’ is naked most of the time and that her 16
‘unmentionables’ are too clearly defined. They want to know what the heck Mattel is thinking. There is nothing wrong with the old models where they simply ‘hinted’; I told them that some people are just not good with hints.

So the other day when I noted that Flickr prompts you with your pics, ’Grab the HTML/BBCode?’ I was delighted because it clearly says in there, capitalized and all, ‘BBC’. My pic has a BBC ode (someone clearly forgot the ‘c’).
So now I tell mom I write for the BBC, because it is logical! If they have given me the code they are clearly reading my blogs and I am so proud, and mom, she is stoked.
See, this is the full circle of life and meaning. Your parents lie to you when you are growing up about important things like Santa, the Easter Bunny, appendages falling off and hair curling and then you grow up and lie to them about who you are and what you are doing.

Keeping Your inventory

Greetings everybody! Without further ado, let's start our sorting inventory task. The first thing to do is to decide how to arrange our items, and create a folder structure in our inventory that reflects this. We'll study how to do this for the Clothing folder. When the concepts are clear, we will consider some suggestions on how to sort our objects (furniture, etc), notecards, landmarks, attachments, etc. Then of course, you will adapt it to your own way of organizing. This is very important: the arrangement has to make sense to our way of searching for items. When you are after a certain outfit look, do you search for a dress style? Do you expect that dress filed under a store folder? How about the accessories?

Those questions are relevant because they'll tell you if your folder structure should categorize clothes first by item type, or if you should make store names the top
category, or even, if you would need of a mixed structure, only to mention a couple of possibilities. So, if you feel that searching items for style is more intuitive to your way of looking for things, go ahead and, within your Clothing folder, create several subfolders named, for example, Dress (Long), Dress (Short), Dress (Gown), Tops (Summer), Tops (Winter), Skirts (Long), Skirts (Short), Pants (Short), Pants (Capri), Pants (Formal), etc.

If you feel that searching items for store name is more intuitive to your thinking, then, within the Clothing folder, create several subfolders named Store A, Store B, Store C, etc.
This immediately creates a new folder named New Folder. The cursor is placed so you can type a different name. Type, for example, Dress (Long) and then hit Enter.

You don't know how to create folders? Worry not, it's very easy. Begin by right clicking over the Clothing folder. This shows a menu with several choices, click on New Folder.
If you now right click over this new Dress (Long) folder, you can create subfolders within. Go ahead, create the structure you've decided under Clothing. Don't worry if you haven't figured all the possible categories yet! Over time, you will realize which new folders you may need, and you can create them right at that moment. Once we’ve created our folder structure, it’s time to begin moving items from our current folders, to the ones we’ve created. Something that will help greatly in this task is having two inventory windows open at the same time, so we click one or more items and drag them from one location, to the other (definitive) folder.

You didn’t know we can have more than one inventory window open at the same time? We can, and it is very useful. In the official viewer, look for the gear icon below your inventory list. Click it to open it, and you’ll find the option within the menu that shows: New Inventory Window. Click that option, and ready! A secondary inventory window appears, which is very useful for moving items to the desired folders. (In other viewers, we may find this option under the Inventory menu, New Window.)
This would be all that we need for our first step organizing our inventory: think how it is natural to you, categorizing your items, then create a folder structure to represent it, and then move all the folders and boxes within the corresponding place in the folder structure that you've designed.

Anya &1r Sue
nya came to Second Life back in March of 2009, after seeing a promotion on TV, advertising a role-play high school for a popular show. She happened to stumble across the creative side of SL and realized that she wanted to create, and not role-play. She shed her 'GossipGirl' last name and became Anya Ohmai, and never looked back. She admits she had trouble balancing RL and SL at first, and, this is what brought her sister, Suetabulous Yootz, to SL. She was worried, having been unable to locate her sister for some time. Anya told her about Second Life and encouraged her to join, and she did, but using only the chat client for a while. While Anya immersed herself in the world of blogging and learning all she could about Second Life creating, Sue threw herself into exploring the manipulation of prims, her first creation being a bathroom, complete with scripts. Anya's first creation was a tank top for her friend Uma Ceawlin. She loved it so much; she took months off blogging to really learn how to create in SL.

Sue credits her inspiration to everyday life. She can't pinpoint one particular source or moment she's inspired to create, but she does like looking through DeviantArt and Etsy, but her flow of creation really depends on her ever-changing moods. Anya credits SL itself. She claims it as her creative space and loves compiling things she finds on Pintrest and Tumblr as she comes across them. She appreciates this little bit of inspiration when her focus is lost.

Anya started as a blogger, and then turned to the RP world when she first started as a role-player, then took over the administration for Hogwarts: Your Story. Later, she turned this into “Mischief Managed� and rebuilt the sim, complete with a new mesh build. Anya has since has had to let go of the administration of the community due to her busy creating schedule. Sue has helped organize events such as EPOCH, but overall doesn't enjoy that aspect of SL, and would much rather build. In her off times, she loves to explore with her friends, Azure Electricteeth and Aime Takaaki, and also hoard SL breedables (much to the dismay of her sister!).
As was mentioned before, Anya found it hard to balance RL with SL, as she has always felt like she had to hide it, either it was RL or SL, but now, after being in SL for years, she feels more comfortable in her own skin and no longer feels such constraints. She doesn't rely on SL for an income, so she approaches it as a fun outlet, which makes the balance easier. Sue admits to not being able to balance or focus very well, and sometimes has to take breaks from one Life or the other. It can be problematic if she takes a break from SL in the middle of a project, as she may not be able to regain focus when she returns and finish it. Sue likes to keep her future goals simple and uncomplicated; she would just like to keep providing innovative products. Anya takes a different approach. She prefers to not label her dreams as goals, keeping the dynamic loose and free, and to keep the feeling of fun in her everyday SL. In their favorite things, Anya, being a blogger had a very long, detailed list. For clothing designers, she prefers ISON, Celoe/Lelutka, Mon Tissu, and Maitreya, but she is also very supportive of up and coming stores such as Pixicat and Mikunch. She also loves the brands her friends create, The Secret Store and Tee*fy/Laviere, which Sue lists as her personal favorites. For furnishings, both Anya and Sue love Y House, but Anya takes it further and lists Fantatik for skyboxes, Tobias Novi for her treehouse, Picnic, KOPI, Itutu, and Plaaka for home goods. She also mentions Oyasumi for the same aesthetic feel. She wants to say she misses Bettie Page's home dĂŠcor items. In photography, Sue loves Neva Crystall, and Anya looks forward to each new addition that Marcopol Oh adds to his portrait sets. Sue shows no hesitation when she picks her favorite 36

blogger and admits “it had to be said” when she picks her sister, Anya Ohmai. Anya picks people close to her as well, choosing bloggers that were active while she was blogging, because they became close friends, Newreem Waffle, Sofia Gray, Mariya Nesiote, Uma Ceawlin and Abra Exonar. For insightful reading she will choose Strawberry Singh and the duo over at New World Notes: Iris Ophelia and Wagner James Au.

What does SL need more of, or is lacking? Anya wants more hand drawn textures and maybe a little less realism. She misses the artistry and perspective from different eyes, the representation of fantastical things. Sue wants more unification of all people on SL. She says diversity is a definite positive aspect of SL, but our community is so small, that it can hurt when it's fractured up into its different parts. She would love to see different groups of SL coming together to create something grand.

Isn't it funny how we are all after winter clothing but right on March 1st, no matter how hot or cold it is, we don't even want to be near them? Well, I know it's not just me and I am noticing that I do the exact same thing in SL too. So instead of heavy coats and jackets, I went for comfy vests and rolled up shirts for this month. I know it may still be a little cold outside but technically it's already spring, right? 40

I love the chaos of children out of control, frantic parents, and all the cute, cute things children tend to do when they overdose on chocolate from Easter. I love it most when I am safe in my house, watching it from a distance, and none of them are my kids. Easter break is not as long as summer holidays but in some respects, parents seem to be taking it a lot harder. I think once you suspend all reason and talk about Easter Bunnies bringing painted or chocolate eggs and marshmallow stuffed baby chicks you have already slipped way beyond the realism barrier that tends to keep children with one foot rooted in sanity. In short, all hell breaks loose. And it's not like there is an ‘eggnog’ or even a ‘hot rum’ that goes with Easter to help calm parents nerves. In fact some parents have to starve themselves. Others 66
at best, get a pack of hot cross buns which, I would like to point out, do not even go well with left over ham.

I watched the mob of boys with chocolate pasted all over their freckled cheeks and dripped onto their naked chests, run after one another up and down the road this afternoon. Most of the neighbours were inside with the shades drawn. I heard one of the boys scream, “I am going to kill you," and the other replied over his shoulder as he ran for his life, "No, you can’t! Only mom can kill us!" Wasn't that cute?! I think I saw ‘mom’ throw a bunch of chocolate eggs up in the air, jump in her van, and drive away.
