Page 55 • Taper Splicing Function The taper splicing function improves the splice loss by pulling the fibers already spliced during the arc discharge. Fujikura has already stored the optimum values of taper parameters for the typical Fujikura fiber in the internal memory It maybe necessary to reop timize the values when using other manufacturer's fiber or other types of fibers. Using this function without reoptimizing may cause worse splice loss. To view or change the taper condition. move the cursor on the [Taper Splice...] in the [Splice Mode Edit] state, and press the "SET" key. Then. [Taper Splice] menu shown in below is displayed.

ยง 6.2.3. Editing Heater Parameters It is not necessary to change the heater parameters when using the Fujikura fiber protection sleeves. To heat and shrink a fiber protection sleeve produced by another manufacturer, it maybe necessary to change the heater parameters by the following procedures. (1) Move the cursor on the heater mode to be edited in the [Heater Mode Select] state (See Figure 6 . 1 and Figure 6 - 2). (2) Press "ARC" key. The [Heater Mode Edit] state appears. (3) Press "~" or "T" key to move the cursor on the parameter to be changed, and press "SET" key. (4) Press ,,~., or "T" key to change the numerical values. After pressing "SET" key, the changed value is stored to the internal memory.

Note I: If [Sleeve Type] is changed, all values stored in the editing mode will be deleted. Instead of the deleted values, the splicer enters the default values set at a factory in Fujikura before shipment. Notez: When it is necessary to return all parameter values to the initial factory default values, change [Sleeve Type] to temporary value. Then, return [Sleeve Type] to the previous one. After performing the above operation, the factory default values are entered to the editing mode.
