UK Government pledge to eradicate Fuel Poverty as far as reasonably practical by 2016. - 2003 1.2m in fuel poverty rising to 4.1m 2011 - GLA believes 24% in London taking into account higher housing costs.

UK Governments Climate Change agenda drives policy - 80% reductions on 1990 levels of Carbon emissions by 2050.

Greater London Authority - 60% carbon reduction by 2025. - RE:NEW programme

Vulnerable people in fuel poverty - do not advertise themselves - are often the hardest group to reach - often miss out on grants and services available to them.

Identifying & engaging the hard to reach . - Many people in london ‘High Risk’, but due to cultural differences and barriers of language, may also be classified as ‘Hard to Reach

Finding the sources of funding to pay for: - assessments, - energy efficiency measures, - income maximisation

London Warm Zone – Impacts Since the beginning of the scheme in 2001 London Warm has achieved:

200,000 completed assessments

57,000 homes receive quality energy efficiency measures such as full heating systems, cavity wall and loft insulation

£10m (cumulative) claimed in new/additonal benefits

750,000 tonnes of carbon saved

2011-12 LWZ will install energy efficiency measures in over 10,000 homes with a budget of £5m from EDF Energy & London Boroughs

Wide spread recognition from key stakeholders - UK Government departments such as DECC - OFGEM – UK Energy regulator - GLA
