Role and objectives The Corporation’s vision is: •
To operate a successful and accessible Park and world-class sporting venues, offering facilities for high-performance and community participation, enticing visitor attractions, and a busy programme of sporting, cultural and community events that will continue to draw crowds to Stratford;
•
To create London’s most dynamic urban district, attracting investment from across London and beyond, becoming a location of choice for current residents and new arrivals, acting as a fulcrum for wealth creation and entrepreneurship, and linking the Olympic Park estate with surrounding neighbourhoods; and
•
To create local opportunities and transformational change, support convergence across its functions, and ensure value for money for taxpayers.

• Park transformation programme: clear, connect, complete
• North Park opening from July 2013; South Park and venues re-opened Spring 2014 • Summer 2013 events programme to include music and community participation • Further events include basketball, boxing, wheelchair tennis, Rugby World Cup, WAC • Longer term programme of events and visitor attractions under development • Mobilisation of construction for Chobham Manor (first homes ready for occupation early 2015) • Launch of Phase 2 of LCS development – including private rented housing • BT Sport begin broadcasting August 2013, other tenants in place from summer 2014 • Enhanced school provision in the local area • Potential for further employment/growth generators – higher education, convention centres, museums, visitor attractions
• Legacy operators in place for eight out of eight retained venues: Aquatic Centre, Copper Box, ArcelorMittal Orbit, Velopark, Eton Manor, Stadium (plus Village and Press and Broadcast Centre) • Planning permission for up to 7,000 homes approved through Legacy Communities Scheme (LCS), with agreed Section 106 • Taylor Wimpey selected as development partner for the first 800 homes – detailed planning underway • Agreement to lease for Press and Broadcast Centre to iCity • Legacy careers programme in place with construction job brokerage service • Commitments to local employment and apprenticeships secured from operators • Community programmes including schools programme and legacy youth panel • Planning powers and team established, and work underway on Local Plan
• Local employment and job brokerage extended to Park, venue operations and Press and Broadcast Centre – good early results from Copper Box • Community programmes for use of Park and venues in place • Consultation on Local Plan, and Community 20 Infrastructure Levy Charging Schedule in place
